Almost 70% of 8th Grader are Stupid...

According to the National Assessment of Education Progress test, 67% of public school 8th graders are not proficient in Math and 65% are not proficient in English. W to the T to the F!

Public School Kids are Stupid

The sad thing is that in some districts, practically all the kids aren't proficient. I read an article that in Baltimore, 1/3rd of the schools didn't have a SINGLE GOD DAMN KID that was proficient at math. NOT ONE. Baltimore Kids are Even Dumber

How is this possible with all the money we spend on education locally and the billions of dollars the fed steals from us every year to fund the Dept of Education?

While I am no friend of the teacher's unions, I believe results like this are a reflection of how some segments of our society are just failing at parenting. Schools reflect the communities they serve. Good public schools aren't good because of the teachers, but because the majority of students come from homes that expect academic excellence. In many areas, public schools have become glorified day care and social service programs, not places of higher learning.

They're highly proficient in social media though...

We didn't just stumble upon mediocrity in the schools, we created it.
We can't blame those who can't vote or aren't trusted to cross a busy intersection; let's start pointing the finger at those whom failed these children.

This goes beyond doing dumb stuff. We all did dumb stuff, but we could still read, write, and handle basic math...

To say these students are stupid betrays your own stupidity. They are just as intelligent as any group of students anywhere. The education system and society has failed them. They may be ignorant--but not stupid. Educate yourself and learn the difference or you look stupid yourself.

Well, of course, that money has to go in someones pocket. Lately that education funding is going in to the pockets of charter schools.

I've always loved how administrators yell they need more money for education. Yet the more money gets thrown and the higher we raise the 'standards', but students can't seem to meet the standards. Even though they spend all day studying to take tests for the standards, but yet never learn anything.

But the administration side of schools seems to be taking in most of that cash for their own ends.

It's not school anymore, it's babysitting.

I have a neighbor who teaches in the local public middle school.
He tells me that there are two basic problems with the public schools.

1) There's no average kids left in the schools. The only kids left in the schools are the idiots, who are often violent and the exceptional......the exceptional are there, but not in the same classes with the idiots.

2) The "idiots" are entirely unmotivated and have no capacity for forward thinking. They are themselves "hopeless" and see no future for themselves. They constantly disrupt the classrooms to the extent that the teachers "show up" but make no effort to instruct as the "inmates" essentially run the asylum. So the teachers are basically just "wardens" and they routinely just pass the kids along to the next level, where the same is done, rinse and repeat.

Where did the "average" kids go? Private Schools and/or Charter Schools and/or Homeschooling.

Why did they go? Violence in the Public school setting. (idiots are dangerous and often bully what they don't understand).

So...............if these percentages of stupid coming out of the Public Schools offends you..........kick out the idiots to alternative campuses and try to attract the "average" back to the schools.

It is done on purpose, by design. I know most wont want to swallow that one. But it's the factual truth.

I only have an 8th grade education myself. I'm serious.

Social Media is the reason for this. They would rather check their twitter, facebook or whatever, than do homework or study.

Whats amusing about that whole thing is, when we passed legalization for marijuana a few years back we were told it would solve the funding issue for all schools as the tax revenue would be huge.

Two years later they wanted to raise taxes again because there was still a gap.

$6.5billion to schools in ONE STATE, and they still can't manage to educate children, but they need more money!

It is such BS.

Successful children have engaged parents that value education. You don’t throw money at this problem and expect it to be solved.
