It's not about pushing his luck. I'm saying Schumer has no intention of it passing. If it fails they can use it while campaigning. If Schumer is behind it, it's not as it seems.

You're just jealous because it wasn't a Republican.

One thing people need to remember is that decriminalized =/= legalized. Just because you won't get screwed over if caught with a reasonable amount of weed on you doesn't mean the government is suddenly going to be raking in billions in new taxes. It also doesn't mean there'll be a dispensary for every Starbucks.

If this goes through you're still going to be buying through a dealer. All this does is make it so you're not going to be spending your life behind bars if you've got a joint on you.

During Obama years they were hands of on the state legalization, but made no progress on the federal level because large parts of the nation were still against it.

You meant decriminalized, I think.
And you are exactly correct. This bill would decriminalize, not legalize.

if it is legalized federally there will be dispensaries popping up
That would depend upon state laws.

I would be were I a Republican. The real problem with being opposed to both parties is the Left assumes you're Right and Right assumes you're Left. There really are people who agree with bits and pieces from both sides. We are free thinkers who prefer not to be limited by a party platform. We upset the apple cart, I know.

of course.
its legal in a few states for recreation already and several for medical.

if legalized at the federal level i tend to think more states would fall in line
at least loosen the grips a bit

im most concerned with what this would mean for employee drug testing

Republicans should counter and promote a bill to legalize.

Why the brilliant bastid!

Fail, you succeed in getting sympathy votes from the inhalers later in the year. Succeed, and you are the greatest thing since Taco Bell!

Meanwhile, keep holding your fundraisers because the inevitable is coming down the turnpike, anyway.

A vote! A vote!! My kingdom for a vote!!

Banks are missing out on lots of money because federal prohibition doesn't allow them to profit from the industry.

Which lobby is more powerful, banking or big pharma?

They both have the same owners, actually....

We are actually called Independents... the group both parties hate until election time.

Probably not much.
I think the issue of impairment is more of a concern there than the legality.

I am with you on this. This is obvious political posturing and Chucky knows this wont pass. But for the record, I hope to be wrong and this does pass by some miracle.

We are the majority. Bow before us.

WaPo says we are a myth.
I say let the Moderates run for office without obstruction and watch us fix stuff. It would be glorious. A chicken in every pot! Or if you're Vegan a pile of Kale in every pot!

I think I've had too much caffeine.
