Most Excellent responses!

Yet i do see a lack of response on the fact of sponsorship and the role it play's in driving the news in certain directions.

There does very much exist a media black list in sponsorship that goes way beyond truth or views.

General media = free. That targets liberals.

Conservative media = pay. Targets conservatives. Who have jobs. And keep the economy moving.

If you think the reporting on Trump has been non-biased then you need a reality check.

Why has the communications in the usa been set up in such a manner as this. Is this a form of control that tptb are using to further their agenda?

Because it's capitalism. "news" is just another platform to hang advertising on like reality TV or sitcoms... Networks have rooms full of R&D people trying to figure out what demographic to target with their programming. It's business with stock holders, CEO, and a corporate structure. The agenda is to make money.

You want a different approach, do what Alex Jones, Ted Turner did and start your own network.

Public Access channels is where I got my chops as a producer. Now I'm a contractor media person for who ever pays the most jing.

I'm in the studio now....

Start here....and make your own show and if it clicks you could make some serious money. Young bikini babes dancing to the latest hits is a place to start. You would be amazed at how many beautiful females with stars in their eyes want to get infront of the camera. And horny young fellas will watch them.

That's all you got for your ats fam...
I know you got more clout than that.

Do you really think the world is ready for the mac show?

Tee hee, i know eh but honestly sometimes watching cnn or msnbc gives me a toothache in the head.
At least cbc and ctv report all news and are polite to each other when discussing it. kinda nice sometimes when you can hear each persons opinion without screaming screeching banshees all around. hint hint cnn, don lemonhead and guests panel.

ATS family ???..I've been banished to the realm of "people like you" and thank you Jesus for relieving me of the bondage of mediocrity.
I don't know what the world is ready for but they seem to be ready for almost any garbage you throw at them. I've been working on a reality TV production with to fat guys traveling around on Hondas mc's eating burgers and looking for chuchucabras. Cable news seems right at home with the rest of the programming.

Because the majority of "conservative" news sites are noting more than fake news articles and opinion pieces of said fake news articles. Maybe if the leaned more towards the truth they would have more success.

I pretty much a centrist person, leaning more left on social issues. Being a moderate centrist, I cannot stand the posturing from BOTH sides -- such as MSNBC's liberal spiel and FOX's conservative crap. Both MSNBC (much of it, anyway) and FOX are two sides of the same coin. They both over-spin every little aspect of a story in order to make it align with their agendas.

There are exceptions at MSNBC -- Chuck Todd is a stand-up journalist. However, both MSNBC and FOX do nothing but stir the pot intentionally to garner ratings from their respective (albeit opposite) demographics.

And conservative talk radio is more popular because of a variety of reasons, but demographics plays a role and left-leaning radio does not sell the same "drama" that Right Wing radio does.

Indeed. Left leaning radio doesn't sell much, especially advertising, hence the failure.

You are completely correct. Left-leaning radio is not fun to listen to. Unless they are nerds such as myself, people do not want to hear hard facts without a bunch of BS and theatrics to go with it.

Right Wing radio, on the other hand, sells all sorts of entertaining garbage. You have drama, lies, conspiracies and fear all wrapped-up in a nice radio show where Right Wingers can get their entertainment and two minutes of hate brought to them by the show sponsors, who are selling gold and buckets of SHTF MRE's.

it's because "mainstream media" has to follow certain journalistic standards which always includes "telling the truth" and having "sources".

Conservative media, for the most part, doesn't meet this basic standard of journalism and therefore can't be included in basic tv lineup.

The British government even recently blocked Rupert Murdoch's takeover of Sky News citing "the lack of journalism standards at FOX News"

There's several reasons.

Humans are visual creatures. We depend on a developed sense of sight for most of our sensory input, because our sense of hearing is not as well-developed, and smell is... well... our sense of smell sucks. So video is the preferred communication method. Video is more expensive to produce, though, and therefore has to charge more for advertising. Whereas a radio broadcast can get by with a microphone and transmitter, a video broadcast needs visually appealing sets, visually appealing personalities, and more expensive equipment than radio.

There's not many TV stations in rural areas; there's not enough money to support them. There are radio stations in rural areas, though, since they can operate for less. So there is the rural/urban dynamic at play, or at least there was until satellite TV became more rurally available. Rural areas are typically more conservative simply because there's less infrastructure to depend on and people are forced to do most things themselves. Cities are built around the concept of specialization in one narrow field and dependence on others to do anything outside that field. It provides for a more dynamic economy, but requires a denser population.

All media is driven by advertising. If a show does not bring in advertisers sufficient to make a good profit, it does not continue for long. For reasons mentioned above, video advertising is considered superior to radio because it utilizes the visual sense as well as the auditory. So in the more liberal cities, the higher advertising costs are offset by the superior response; in the country, there is not a large enough market to justify the high cost of video advertising (not to mention the lack of available outlets).

There are few 'liberal' radio shows because rural folk do not tend to want to listen to them; 'conservative' shows rule the day. There are more 'liberal' TV shows because the TV stations are located in more urban areas and have a greater impact for advertisers to take advantage of.
