So why is it that most broadcast tv media is left leaning?

Other than 1 hr. of fox sunday morning tv with the wall ace you can not get a conservative view point without having to pay for it via cable or internet provider. Terrestrial tv signals do not provide a daily dose of conservative news.

On the other hand the radio talk shows are filled with the conservative voice talk shows and in many areas lacking in liberal viewpoints if any talk shows are even available?

Is this a conspiracy?

Why has the communications in the usa been set up in such a manner as this.

Is this a form of control that tptb are using to further their agenda?

I'm in Canada and we have to pay through rogers or bell tv for fox news and even rt.

cnn is available without xtra charge.

our canadian news channels can be boring sometimes but the anchors and panelists don't yell and scream at each other, so theres that.

For context: Y'all are right leaning over there, mate. Sanders is a centrist by Global standards.

The reason, I guess, that most media is less right leaning than Fox is that they would lose their platform for the international market (which is surprisingly big), if they did not moderate themselves.

So, yeah, because money.

Because the majority of "conservative" news sites are noting more than fake news articles and opinion pieces of said fake news articles. Maybe if the leaned more towards the truth they would have more success.

I don't think that it's a conspiracy, I just think that it's a byproduct of who produces the stuff and what audience that they're trying to reach.

Think about it--most young people are liberal by default (statistically speaking), and what you want to do as a brand is to reach people while they're young so that you can make your brand a habit in their life. So, if you're marketing to reach the young'uns, you create a product that will generally appeal to them.

Most young people are not overly concerned with fiscal issues, or this or that "boring" topic that is often discussed on conservative news outlets, so it's no wonder why there's not a lot of it available to the mainstream audience--it's just not interesting to the young mind.

Plus, many of the faces of national news outlets tend to have more in common with Hollywood actors than journalists, and Hollywood isn't exactly known for leaning to the right, either.

My two cents, anyhow, but I don't think that it's necessarily a conspiracy from the government. I do, however, acknowledge that it gets exploited by certain administrations while in office, though.

If collusion were a crime...

Are you sure they are?
Most real leftists think that the broadcast tv media is right leaning.
Maybe the tv media is neither leftist or conservative but rather supportive of the status quo. MSM supports the ''establishment'' which is seen by the left as being conservative and seen by the right as being liberal.

Media supports the ''establishment because it is within that established economic structure that the MSM makes it's money. ALL MSM is profit driven, hence capitalist enterprises. The real left, the socialists and communists and progressives that are so greatly feared are all anti-capitalism. So it is impossible for the '' leftist media' that so many here complain about is not really leftist but rather firmly entrenched with in the capitalist economic system which it defends on a daily basis and hence are not really leftist.

TV and the MSM, except Fox, just seems to be liberal because to the Right Wing anything that is not in lock-step with their ideals is considered left-leaning.

And conservative talk radio is more popular because of a variety of reasons, but demographics plays a role and left-leaning radio does not sell the same "drama" that Right Wing radio does.

There was an article published a while back on this issue and I'll see if I can find it.

Hmmm sorry I don't know how to provide you with the echo chamber you seek. Personally I'd just like to find some news that is actually real unbiased journalism myself. But I'm really starting to think such a thing has always just been just a fantasy anyway.

Most trusted news sources aren't as far 'left' as you think. It's just that when you have people blabbing on and on about the MSM being left you either listen and gobble it all up, or you just simply gather your own conclusion by sourcing through ALL news sources.

Unfortunately majority of people on the internet seem to love bashing CNN and what not yet will post garbage from far right extremely biased and literally fake news sites and trust it. Blows my mind. World of information at your finger tips and people still can't critically think to search multiple sources, left and right leaning.

Because it's capitalism. "news" is just another platform to hang advertising on like reality TV or sitcoms... Networks have rooms full of R&D people trying to figure out what demographic to target with their programming. It's business with stock holders, CEO, and a corporate structure. The agenda is to make money.

You want a different approach, do what Alex Jones, Ted Turner did and start your own network.

Public Access channels is where I got my chops as a producer. Now I'm a contractor media person for who ever pays the most jing.

I'm in the studio now....

Start here....and make your own show and if it clicks you could make some serious money. Young bikini babes dancing to the latest hits is a place to start. You would be amazed at how many beautiful females with stars in their eyes want to get infront of the camera. And horny young fellas will watch them.

Watching news is kind of stupid to begin with. I would much rather scan headlines for something that interests me than be fed propaganda from some talking head. There are so many things that networks consider newsworthy that I couldn’t give a crap about.

Stop watching it all together or just turn on the radio if you are stuck in your car and want something pass the time.

All of it is BS.

My main gripe is with NPR. its pretty seriously left leaning, but if you ask a liberal its completely and utterly objectively neutral... as a "conservative" i would strongly disagree.... yet my tax dollars fund it.

I just read an article about how rarely guns are used for self defense and that it shouldn't be an argument against stronger gun control...

why in the world are my tax dollars being used to fund the agenda of curtailing our 2A rights!?

Maybe, but go to CNN.com right now and tell me how many opinion, or analysis, stories you see. What few remain, read them, they're largely opinion pieces as well. But it probably doesn't seem that way in an echo chamber.

Watch out .....your propaganda indoctrination is showing ! That may be honestly what you think, but I think just about the opposite.Considering that most MSM is left leaning along with the proper left leaning teaching in most schools....it's a miracle that there are any conservatives at all ! Many of us at this site would say it's an agenda by design.

I agree with this, and if you run a textual analysis on most news stories, most are actually neutral. The commentaries are not, but the news itself is neutral.

Maybe because rural areas tend to be conservative and until the last 10 years or so you couldn't get cable. Just what your antenna could bring in. Best bang for your buck. Now you can get satellite internet.
