The militants from Douma were already being evacuated at the time of the supposed chemical weapons attack. The battle was over. The Syrians and the Russians had everything to lose and nothing to gain by using chemical weapons. On the other hand, the Saudi backed Jaish al-Islam military faction had everything to gain from western intervention.
Sieges are a natural part of warfare and Jaish al-Islam was a well funded, trained and equipped military group that was well entrenched and had hoarded international relief and supplies for themselves and their soldiers. They were not a group of rebels seeking liberty and freedom as you believe. The Syrian Army also suffered greatly from sieges and still do in Fu'ah and Kefraya. Except when sieges were completed by the opposition they lined up Syrian Soldiers and murdered them. They weren't evacuated in buses back to friendly lines like how the Syrian Army has done to areas that have fallen.
Unfortunately, to know what has happened in Syria takes more than emotionally charged one-liners which you seem to be fond of delivering. Feel free to debate my knowledge on this issue instead of resulting to personal sniping. I've been involved in this conflict since before it started and have not gone a day without researching it. I'm more than prepared to debate you on any occurrence during the conflict.

I find something ironic the Russians are not upset about Assad being attacked. They are upset because Putin's threats were dismissed. So Russians are mad because they feel Putin was disrespected because they ignored Putin's threats.
Here was Russia's response
Russia's ambassador to the US warned that there would be consequences for the strikes, adding that it was not acceptable to insult Russia's president.
"A pre-designed scenario is being implemented," Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov said on Twitter.
"Again, we are being threatened. We warned that such actions will not be left without consequences."
"Insulting the President of Russia is unacceptable and inadmissible. The US - the possessor of the biggest arsenal of chemical weapons - has no moral right to blame other countries."

It is interesting that France is a part of this since they typically do not support American agenda. In the end no big WWIII, no nothing from Russia... This will end into a nothing burger..
