Truthfully, I'm more worried about Israel than anyone else. They truly don't care what anyone says. They'll do what they want, when they want. And they have the Samson Option as insurance which means we're all ****ed. On top of that, they know the U.S. will have their backs against Iran which will pull the U.S. into conflict.

Israel shouldn't be doing anything outside of their own country with something like the Samson Option in place. It's like a little twerp with a bigger brother, "If you punch me back, I'll get my bigger brother to beat you up!". (Not saying they don't have a right to defend themselves, but they don't need to actively seek out engagements.)

I don't think Putin would escalate things, he is trying to keep it under control. Killing Americans in subs, would be something that would get bad PR and he is winning it at the moment.

I read somewhere that as Russia recaptured territory, that they also repaired most of Syria's outdated S-200 missile launchers that were taken back from the rebels and left in a state of disrepair. I think the Russians did rebuild the Syrian S-200 systems that were gutted by the rebels. That wasnt exaggerated.

The Russians deployed wouldnt have vintage parts, and they wouldn't use them even if Syria did. The launchers were probably upgraded with new components making them capable of integration into the Russian radar and early warning systems that they brought with them to Syria.

Syrian air defense systems could also be generally augmented after the upgrade by the few S-400s that the Russians have protecting themselves in Syria.

Syria used more then just the S-200 VE to hit our missiles.

This is what Syria have:

1. Pantsir S1.
2. Buk M1 and M2.
3. Kvadrat medium range.
4. Dvina, Volga a S 75 variant.
5. OSA, strela-1, and strela-10.
6. Manpads.

They have quite a lot of these systems as Well.
They have about 36 Pantsir S1.

We are not in a democracy, we probably never were, but the West is run by a few Oligarchs , whos wealth and power depends on shuttling one user friendly government in after the other, this is why vast amounts of money can be spent on a missile, and not on any real social programs which actually benefit the people. This is ok when things are economically good, but the more people that end up without jobs and healthcare, puts pressure on this cozy arrangement . The usual remedy is to have an enemy, which drums up nationalism and stops the hard questions being asked. Then bringing in laws which make any opposition to the cozy arrangement a terrorist act, which is true, by definition, because you have to change the Government to get some honesty back in the system.
In the West to get the good jobs, is automatic if your family is rich, Generals have gone to all the right schools, The same with those running the Government, so its only natural that they are only going to be concerned with their own kind, But what happens when your up against an enemy who's Generals and Tacticians, have got their jobs on pure merit. Will this essentially effect the outcome of any real conflict , especially when the military hardware is similar.
In the West the leaders are living on some other planet compared to the average person, it's not their fault but its an error in the system. this is a severe moral issue because of the gap between the ruling haves and the have not's,. The consequences of it have yet to be tested.
So basically we have an IQ issue . Putin seems more intelligent than Trump, Laverov more intelligent than Haley. If this runs through the whole upper echelons of Western society, as I believe it might, then we have a problem if any real escalation in the ME takes off.

Reports of huge amounts of USA assets being moved to Panama canal. If ww3 breaks out, red dawn will attack from South. USA forces moving to counter. What is coming. Nothing or something.

I was thinking the same thing, Israel does some crazy stuff definitely don't want them embolden or threatened for that matter. Middle east has been a hornet's nest a long time and unfortunately will continue to be.

Israel are very worried that the attack have prompted russia to deliver S-300 systems to Syria.
This will in that case help Irans military venture in Syria. Iran would probably be protected by the S-300. And it would make it harder for Israel to make pop shots at Iran inside Syria.

Israel does see a possebility that by working with russia on the Syria issue, it could in return be that russia wont let Iran become a major military establishnent in a future Syria.
But how we work now only encurages russia to let Iran build and strengthen their military capasity close to the Israeli boarder.

Isn't that the long term plan of the West including Israel? You know, coax the Iranians out of the safety of their borders then wait until they bite back at Israel taking out their Syrian bases? If the Iranians do bite back and a skirmish develops have no doubt................ Suadi, USA, IDF and UK France will take out Iran in no time whatsoever. Then it really will be "Mission Accomplished.

I dunno I have been hearing stories of Israel launching sorties in Syria targeting Iran and Syria. Not the first story I found take it with a grain of salt I suppose but it’s good to keep an eye on it.

Syrian air defenses on Monday night responded to a missile attack over Homs, Syria's official news agency SANA reported.

According to the report, the missiles targeted the Shayrat air base, which was attacked by the United States last year following a chemical attack in Khan Sheikhun.

All three of the missiles were shot down by the country's air defenses, the report said, but did not specify who may have fired the missiles.

The Pentagon said there were no reports of U.S. military activity in the area.

“There is no U.S. military activity in that area at this time,” Eric Pahon, a Pentagon spokesman said, according to Reuters. “We do not have additional details to provide.”

The missile attack comes three days after the United States, France and Britain launched joint air strikes on Syria in response to the regime’s use of chemical weapons on civilians in Douma.

Last week, seven Iranian personnel were killed in an early morning strike on the T-4 airbase in Homs.

Iran accused Israel of being behind the air strike, as did the Syrian regime and Russia.

I'd rather see billions spent on missiles blowing up missiles compared to missiles blowing up humans. Still, imagine what we could achieve with world military budgets put into positive things. Kinda ironic how much technology and surgery was learnt in World War 2 however. a reply to: putnam6
