This is about the constitution. They are trying to erode it away and weaken the support for it. Hate exists in the hearts and minds of people. The cause is there, but few will intercede where it needs it. Instead they will take advantage of a crisis and try to take our weapons. Which will start a war.

I'm really getting tired of being compared to a few pedophilical 'priests' because I happen to believe in God. That comparison is much less appropriate than comparing this kid to a fascist, because he is proposing actions (confiscation of weapons) that are conducive to a Nazi state, while the vast majority of Christians abhor and denounce any improper action toward children.

I agree that it is fallacious to paint groups of people with such broad brushes. It does not facilitate intelligent discussions.

On the other hand, it is also fallacious to make comparisons to a Nazi state. While we may be able to find points of comparison with the Nazis and current situations, that could be said about a wide variety of issues and only serves to shut own intelligent discourse through the use of hyperbole.

Well taking that statement by itself instead of stacking all of the ones before it for context, maybe, perhaps, but don't let that stop you from calling someone out like that. Truth be damned and all.

From some of the things I've seen, it would almost appear he is using the event that happened to simply propel himself to notoriety. He seems to have an overly dramatic or sarcastic aura about him. This day in age with social media I agree, it just takes one opportunity to accomplish this. A school shooting is nothing to shake a stick at though and I'm sure it was traumatic. Let's face it, he's a 17 year old kid still in High School. Whether or not he's really genuinely passionate about the topic or simply using it as a fame platform, I don't know. If what he posted on reddit is in fact true, then that tends to sway the argument a bit. Hypocrisy knows no bounds. I know when I was in high school, I tended to speak before thinking at times. That's just part of being young.

Whatever side of the road you stand on, the topic is a super charger for debate and he jumped on it. Regardless, he is 'famous' now. Not sure if that makes him smart or just opportunistic.

And if he did go full fascist from all this "vitriol", well, he willingly entered into the public space. You are not protected from criticism and scrutiny there, and you cannot expect to be either.
