LoL

I know those who dont tip will hate me for it, but screw you guys. This is really just for you few.

Those who NEVER tip on "principle".

To everyone else, forgive me in advance if it seems like I use broad strokes in my mental decompression here.

There is a darker side to this. I see a personality type that repeatedly doesnt tip.

Its not based on class, though working class people do tend to have a heart (need one) to survive in life, so they generally do tip.

The zero effs given people are the zero sum players that people like ME NEED to avoid in order to survive. They take more than whats fair and give nothing more in return.

I have told my bosses at most places where I have worked that I will never work for certain clients ever again. I would quit ANY job over it. I am good at what I do. Im not perfect, but I rise like foam at whatever job I have. I know what Im worth /produce.

It is the custom in many cases to tip and odd balls should get the hell out of Rome or do as they do.

Its not the amount of money BTW. I have been humbled and blown away by a few dollars or a cup of coffee, or just an offer. Luke 21:1-4. "The Widow’s Offering".

There are some tender moments in life where people really just need help and somehow their hearts still move them to help others where they can. Honesty goes far.

When you ASK FOR MUCH, and make it seem emotional and slick, then I know. You only want to take advantage of my crew and me.

People who will tip a good job or tip according to how well or how hard you work for them will say what they want matter a factly and will maybe even be upfront in their offer of value to you for your added workload.

They will also tell you how you are an asshole very concisely so you better just do an amazing job. If you do they will let you know and be very sincere as well.

Those bad tippers that REALLY dont blend in with the crowd as well as they think they do are the ones to never be happy or really know why because karma is instant and unperceived by them.

Maybe you have bad luck dining or banking and are just stuck with what seems like an ocean of mediocrity providing services to you. Maybe you were traumatized by a bad experience getting a cab from hell.

All I know is that you will forever be waiting for the cable guy.

The ones who show up early, do everything right, and go above and beyond if needed are too good for you.

Often the meaning of your actions is greater than you know. The effect as well. Some people dont just live paycheck to paycheck, but day by day.

You dont know the stories people have out in the struggling world. You wouldnt even understand to begin explaining. Its sad.

You guys have brought TRUE tears to peoples eyes. I have seen it too many times. Its not right.

The reverse to being humbled by a meager offering given by a humble person, as it is worth more, is not "good"...

The reverse is being insulted by someone who lacks nothing and still parades their worth while giving nothing back...all the while DEMANDING as much as they can get. They seem to always want to go well into the realm of trying to make you incur a loss so as to accommodate them.

To them I say, I refuse your money. You actually COST people that get tips MONEY by being in the way of that NON Zero Sum player we couldnt get to thanks to your stupid ass wasting our time.

The one bringing our daily bread to our mouths...We cant afford to miss him or let him down.

You guys, not so much. Maybe just because I wouldnt do a bad job just to punish you. I simply wouldnt do 2.

Screw the one who is trying to save money on my work. Im not trinket in a bazaar. Dont haggle or save. PAY for what you want. LET ME, offer some value to you instead of you taking all of the possible gains with you...middle fingers in the air as you walk away.

So you see, we that get tips dont actually need YOUR tip money. We need you to go away so normal people not trying to make others suffer can meet us and have an awesome time getting a great service with extra anything possible just to keep them happy as a PERSON, and not as just a CUSTOMER.

I just dont see your money as appealing anymore. Its not worth it.

You offer a zero sum. That is what you are.

To everyone else who is normal and maybe DOESNT tip when PAID services suck, I hear you. No worries and totally cool.

If you do generally tip a few bucks no matter what or only what is a bare minimum, maybe even less than that just because you dont have the scratch, Its all good. I got you.

To the obtuse petty dicks that are just jerks in life, here is this thread. It is my gift to you.
LOL

Thinking about it now, there are even some people who dont tip on principle that get a pass from me.

So you few true scum bags out there are elite!

ok. Thank you for letting me rant on you. Good night.

Wow, good rant

I'm self employed, I tip if someone does something better than other people. You choose to be an employee relying on tips though.

I tip when I am alone. Other than that I have all my friends and family convinced that I never tip so they pick that up lol. I am sorry that someone seems to have ruined your day though. Grab a beer and a cigar and enjoy the night sky!

Exactly! If you can't afford (or refuse) to tip, stay home! Nobody wants you! You are just making your bed in heaven and the bedding is full of spit and pubes.

On a personal note, I tip 20-25%, period. If I can't afford it, then I can't afford to go out and I stay home. Nobody has ever been rude to me to the point where I didn't tip.

ps - If you are in the front, by the stage, you better be consistently throwing down cash. If not, sit in the back.

You are in England, though. It works totally different there. In America, the government allows employers to pay tipped employees less than minimum wage and tax them for a percentage of the cost of the meal.

People who don't tip literally are freeloading as their server is technically paying for part of their meal. Tipping minimum is basically just reimbursing the server.

There are some bad waitresses out there who do not deserve a tip. They act as if they are doing you a favor for taking your order and they never come around, they just talk to their friends at a certain table. I usually tip based on the quality and friendliness of the service. I usually leave something, but I will not leave a tip for a waitress who is rude to the customers.

You do not reward someone for bad behavior.

Thats true even with some minimum wage manual labor jobs. Part of the attraction is the high wage per hour when you factor in tips. Thats what gets people to sign up to destroy their bodies.

When you dont have a union, dont have medical insurance, dont have credit, you really need your little bit of cash on the side to make it all possible.

Take a furniture delivery service from a large department store. I am guilty of this one personally.

You get a fridge or a couch delivered.

The guy delivering it makes minimum wage, and he gets paid weekly or bi weekly. How much money do you think he has in his pocket for lunch? How about train /bus fare home?

Maybe his route got messed up by traffic or weather, so he only has a few stops....and no one tips.

So he walks home hungry that day. He did everything right, but somehow he is worse for the trouble.

In any industry where people get tips, you should tip. There is PROBABLY a good reason why its the custom.

I know most here get it, which is nice. Thanks y'all.

To the other posters: I am kind of tired so excuse me if I dont respond back. I am off to be happy now. Thanks for hearing me out.

I've played the customer service game before, so I try to find a reason to give a baseline tip, but on rare occasion, I can't justify giving a tip. Personally, I try to avoid going to restaurants and such, as I feel completely humiliated being served by strangers. I guess its just something that you learn from personal experience in retail.

You should only feel humiliated if you are a freeloader not giving a tip.

Maybe.

I don't wish any form of servitude on anyone, be it waitressing or full-blown slavery. The only time I go to restaurants or cafes are when friends or family push it. Its just a character flaw of mine, I guess. After all, even the grocery stores could not be stocked without some level of servitude.

Seems to me businesses should pay their staff more.
Do you tip Mc'D's servers?

I waited tables in college, so I know what it's like to survive and rely on tips.

I always tip.

No, they are not in a tipped position therefore, they are not taxed like people who are. Thus, they have higher wages (even if it's only minimum wage).

Then you have that one asshole that leaves a penny on the table just to be a jerk.
I've waited tables and tended the bar.
Regulars that tip well get priority service.

The whole purpose of a tip is gone and it should have the name changed.

Forced payment is not a tip. Tipping used to make both the good worker and the customer feel good and it was not for those who were bad workers.
