1.) The RUSSIAN government directly "meddled" in our 2016 election process, as explained in the 37 page indictment issued this past Friday.

As the indictment lays out in thorough detail, the content pumped out by the Russians was not paid or promoted ads; it was so-called native content—including video, visual, memetic, and text elements designed to push narrative themes, conspiracies, and character attacks. All of it was designed to look like it was coming from authentic American voices and interest groups.

2.) A few days before the 2016 election, FBI Director James Comey announced that the Criminal Investigation of candidate Hillary Clinton was being reopened. (Hillary lists this as a big reason why she lost to Donald Trump.)

In his letter on Friday, Comey wrote, "In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation. I am writing to inform you that the investigative team briefed me on this yesterday, and I agreed that the FBI should take appropriate investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation." Comey added that the agency couldn't yet determine "whether or not this material may be significant or not," or "how long it will take us to complete this additional work."

3.) Candidate Hillary Clinton, with cooperation from the FBI, paid a Russian spy to create a DOSSIER document, composed of LIES about Presidential candidate Donald Trump's personal life..and "leak" it to selected media outlets.

Mother Jones has reviewed that report and other memos this former spy wrote. The first memo, based on the former intelligence officer’s conversations with Russian sources, noted, “Russian regime has been cultivating, supporting and assisting TRUMP for at least 5 years. Aim, endorsed by PUTIN, has been to encourage splits and divisions in western alliance.” It maintained that Trump “and his inner circle have accepted a regular flow of intelligence from the Kremlin, including on his Democratic and other political rivals.” It claimed that Russian intelligence had “compromised” Trump during his visits to Moscow and could “blackmail him.”

There's no doubt that these 3 items caused SOME U.S. citizens to change their vote, or, to not to vote at all. But which of the three (in your opinion), had the greatest effect on the American voter, heading into the Presidential Election on November 8, 2016?

The opposition to Trump had the greatest effect IMO.

The media spin didnt/ doesnt help.
We know they are in a business paid for by sociopaths to lie to us and keep us small.

Also, we are pretty smart now a days, regardless of all the insults and echo chamber detractions.

To me the greatest effect on the American voter was that the election process and the debates brought front and center to everyone that Hillary was.... horrible. The dossier was so badly written that it cast serious doubts on the people trying to peddle it. Comey coming out of the closet and doing what he did just made people on the fence with a brain and an internet connection look at the situation and him closer, which resulted in even more mistrust for the DNC, if that was even possible at that point.

I guess it should be pointed out that the majority of the ad buys on Facebook by those fiendish Russians was AFTER the general election. So no "vote changes" happened as a result of meddling, really. All the Russians wanted was to cast doubt on our electoral process. Some people somewhere are drinking some vodkas and laughing their butts off on how successful they were.

So although I admire the spirit in which the OP was written, I am going to have to say at the end of the day that the candidate sucked. Get a better candidate. That was the major issue.

I was an independent before this election. For half a century I have voted for the best candidate. Now I've a party that made me go more right, more right, more right...

And it wasn't the Republicans.

None of the above.

The concerted effort BY,

Film, television, news stations, and progressive websites affected most Americans at election time.

However when it came down to election day.

The electoral college was the great decider.

Everyone played their part.

Some better than others.

Hilary spent 2.5 billion dollars on propaganda ads against Trump. No amount of trolling can help Trump, certainly no 16 trolls against David's Brock multi million dollar Clinton Troll factory.

Ditto.
Nothing in the OP affected me one bit.

I knew that our country would be doomed with Hillary as president. And I knew that Trump was exactly what we needed. I held firm in those convictions since the beginning, and as events developed they only confirmed my convictions. But nothing in the OP had one bit of affect. Those things were just added drama for the masses.

Thanks but the question wasn't WHY she lost. Everyone knows Hillary was a DOG candidate. (She even barked at one of her rallies, in desperation)

Some people think we are stupid.

I won't say "the left" but Damn if it doesn't point there!

I don't suffer fools.

Ask my dogs.

Thank-you for a direct answer to my direct question, TadaMan. I too think the Dossier, and negative rumors that it created, probably cost Donald Trump more votes, than the Comey investigation reopening did to Hillary.

As more evidence comes in, it's being realized that the RUSSIAN government interference was negligible. They spent more money AFTER the election on the "Not My President" movement, than they spent on Facebook ads, BEFORE the election. And the Russian expenditure was puny, compared to what the candidates and the party leadership invested.

Same here. But the liberal media kept me determined to vote for candidate Trump, even when I thought he was intentionally trying to throw the election to Hillary.

Thank-you for the detailed repsonse, Lumenari.

I'm sure Comey reopening the criminal investigation of Hillary was a huge SHOCKER to Democrats. But I think it caused more of them to stay home, than to vote for another candidate.

Tons of Democrats were going to vote enthusiastically for Bernie. But after Hillary pushed him over the cliff, they reluctantly were going to vote for her...even after she insulted them. But, Comey probably turned that group into NON-voters. After all, Hillary was a SHOE-IN.

If those are the three choices it is Comey that had the most effect.

With that said I don’t think all three combined change the outcome of one state, but we will never know for sure.

The Russian trolls had by far the smallest effect, I am almost positive their ads changed absolutely no votes. Their ads sucked, and a few ads alone do not change a persons vote.

Comey put doubt into people’s heads about Hillary breaking the law with the announcement of the new emails (she absolutley did).

The basket of deplorables and public/private positions comments lost her the election, in my opinion.

I mean think about it. She all but said, 'I hate the half of you, and plan to lie to all of you.'

Not much of a winning message is it?

That's what's so maddening about the nutjobs that are the U.S. News Media. They want everyone to think that Russians exacted measurable damage to the 2016 election process.

They give excuses for Obama not stopping them, but want to burn Trump at the stake for "sitting on his hands" as we near the 2018 elections.

How can the Russians interfere in 2018, if they've been neutralized by Bob Mueller. Were the indictments just a face-saving dog-n-pony show from Mueller?

You echo the sentiment of everyone but the liberal media. They are certain that the Russians gave us HELL during 2016 and are preparing to do it again, leading up to November 2018.

I think the ill acquired Dossier actually benefited Hillary way more than the Russians interfered with the election. The use of that dossier which, contains mostly crap, steered more people away from Trump than the Russian interference gained him votes. In fact, I think that the twisted interpretations of evidence created by media in reguards to the Russian collusion lies actually hurt Trump more than any gain from what the Russians interference gained. Trump lost support from the scandal thrown at him by the Hillary campaign and even from the result of the Russian interference.

Trump won when he shouldn't have, Hillary is not as good of a deceiver as people think, her deeds in the past lost her the election.

Have you not seen the anti-Trump ads during election? It was like every ten minutes. No amount of troll can help Trump. Hilary just sucked. She couldn't win against anyone let alone Trump.
