You will never make any sense to the gun nuts, they need them so badly any logic presented to them is ridiculed, they literally do not have the capacity to see any other option,

Same can be said for the "anti gun nuts"

I live in Australia...my wife, son and daughter inlaw own property and farm sheep...73,000 acres in American.

I was raised in a farming family, we see guns as a tool of trade and have used them appropriately..from sunday afternoon rabbit shoot with my father 50 years ago..to friday night fox shoot with my grandchildren today...
When I was 15 I walked into our local police station and paid 50c for my unlimited gun liscence...today it is many 100's of dollars and a 2 day course to achieve the same. The first big increase came when a German tourist shot 7 people in the outback and the laws were instantly reviewed, the second came after the Port Arthur shooting...a 300% increase..so, we have had 2 major shootings in the past 50 years and the result was.....legitimate gun users got slammed financially...government knew they didn't really "need" to do anything because the stats said "we dont have a problem" but they saw the oppertunity to appear committed to public safety by wacking big fee increases on gun owners and basically "cashing in" on the crisis, now we are being attacked again on our storage arrangements, our guns must be stored in a specific way in a safe made to a specific standard....yep...3mm door, 2mm walls if its inside the house...3mm door...3mm wall if its outside (like in the shed etc)..as if an angle grinder is going to know the difference between 2mm and 3mm!!...so..basically..ever since Pot Arthur ,Australian gun owners have been made into easy cash cows and the risk to the public via some nut going crazy with a rifle..is really, still the same...

I do think you guys allow access to semi auto rifles just a weee bit too easy...seriously...even with 73,000 acres..over run with Kangaroos, feral goats and foxes...I cannot easily get a semi auto rifle..

There is a place for guns...in the hands of responsible people......not every one is responsible....I dont agree that a 19 year old with no legitimate need for an assult rifle should be able to legally access said gun and then turn up at a school..with a bad attitude and create mayhem and devastation for innocent families etc......but on the other hand...its just as evil that a government will change the laws just enough to gain revenue from legitimate gun owners without ever really addressing the problem.
It is almost feasable for me to forgo my gun licence, sell my guns and just lay poison to kill feral animals, but its not that simple..baits kill lots of native animals too...so I choose to shoot ferals...but it cost me more...because of the fees involved in being a gun owner..primary production or not...there is no distinguishing between recreational and essential.

Look out USA...if Australia is the example...you wont lose all your rights...but it will cost you....

No. In my opinion you'll be hiding behind them like a little girl and do a lot a ass kissing when you're saved.

Hiding behind the one with the gun, yes. Thankful to the one with the gun, probably not. Once saved, they'll go right back to whining about gun nuts. Can't have their agenda interrupted.

How many knee-jerks do you need before you realise there is a problem?

Somthing happened in the schools and socieity that is causing this. We have always had guns but we havent always had these shootings on such a reagular bases.

Our do nothing congress needs to start addressing these school shootings and start passing legislation that prevents mentally ill and young people from owning guns. Alcohol can't be purchased or consumed by people under 21, yet we can trust young people under the age of 21 to be responsible with guns that can be used in mass shootings? A simple Facebook search when this kid wanted to purchase his AR-15 would have sounded alarm bells for government officials.

How many school and mass shootings are going to occur until there's a serious discussion on this subject? Teachers are with these kids everyday and usually have a better perspective than their parents on a student's mental stability. Many kids act differently outside their home. The education system should have a reporting system that sounds alarm bells for these students! Dangerous obsessions, deep seeded hate and anger, multiple run-ins with the law, doesn't change much with age.

We either continue to ignore this problem and continue to let evil have the upper-hand and take innocent lives, or we put our obsession with guns aside and start addressing this problem. You just can't continue to ignore the clear connection of many mass shootings utilizing the same AR-15 rifle.

No, making guns illegal is not the answer, but making a particular automatic rifle illegal which is the clear choice among mass murders can reduce the number of lives taken. As for your argument about drugs, if we made all drugs legal, we certainly would have a lot more young people gaining easy access to drugs, more of them would be experimenting with them, and their would certainly be many more overdoses and deaths, DUI's and murders.

We need to stop creating these ridiculous arguments in support of gun ownership, and start addressing the "real" connections between mass shootings and a particular automatic rifle being used.

Most gun deaths in the US of A are because of the 'war on drugs'. Which accomplishes nothing but high drug prices and people killing each other over those profits. THAT is not a gun problem, it is an idiotic government problem, and as we all know, those type of problems is what is wrong with nearly everything on the the planet today.

It pretty much is. It wouldn't be easy though and thats what people are scared of.

You might as well spit into the wind.
Our president and representatives have failed to protect our kids. The trump republicans don’t care.
Vote blue, send the red back to the wilderness.

Detroit, Baltimore, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago = ALL democrat controlled for decades. Are they the safest places in America to live?

Sandy Hook was under President Obama. Did you blame him for the shooting? If not, why?

Nothing like using dead kids to push a political agenda.

Republicans I've heard want security in school, Democrats want more "gun free" zones. Both party's politicians send their kids to school with armed security. Seems to me the Republicans are the ones pushing safety and the Democrats are once again pushing the "good for me, but not for thee" policies they always push.

You have a right in America to give up your personal defense, you do not have a right to give up my personal defense.

"II was reading the other day that tourism numbers have dropped some 20% going to the U.S, there are a few reasons for this but a big one is gun nuts."

Helps with cutting down on terrorism and illegals I suppose.
On the OP, my house has numerous firearms and nobody has died. All my neighbors and brothers and sister at work too. In Chicago they are illegal. So is heroin and drinking and driving in the U.S.
There is a current topic showing how many have been stopped by the good guys. If you don't like it, then move to someplace where they are forbidden. Like Chicago..

Says the guy who needs his weapon to go shirtless by the pool to take a selfie.......

lmfao

Shirtless by the pool? If you wear yours by the pool at 105 degrees, then you must be ashamed of your physique. A selfie is when one takes a photo of themselves. See my hands? And a gun on the family ranch hog hunting? God forbid the insanity of all that.
Never had an avatar until a week ago and have been wondering who would make the first personal attack.

Anonymity is for the weak bullies of the Internet. If comment pages on said internet had everyone's face and name it would be much more polite.

Thoughts and prayers for the kids and family's.

Wonderful post, and I 100% agree with all of it!

Every time these events happen, congress and or the POTUS says it's too soon to think about solutions. No! For 17 people ( and all the other victims) its too late!

Dang it man
I cannot beleve you are so bold to flaunt that pic of you GLORIFYING that weapon used to kill more of our children than anything else in this country.
I will not stop till all swimming pools are under lock and key or cemented in even. We must keep easy access for children to so easily wander into unsupervised swimming pools. We should probably ban private swimming pools and only allow public swimming pools so government can monitor their use at all times.

We are losing kids EVERY SINGLE DAY to swimming pool deaths. Way more than guns. And all of you yahoos take 1 crazy and start pointing at guns when EVERYONE knows swimming pools kill more children that guns do.
And yet here we are using pics with swimming pools glorifying this unattended death trap by putting a gun in the pic for misdirection.

Well it worked!
Nobody is talking about all the children we lose to swimming pools EVERY DAY

If the gov't ever tried to ban and take the guns it would be civil war.
