I guess there were no school shootings when Obama was president, then. Wow, I learn something new every day.

Anyway, the school shootings will not end until average Americans end their passionate love affair with guns. In other countries where it is not considered part of everyday life - or even remotely sane - to have guns stached around your house, these massacres don't happen every week or so like they do in the US. Just the way it is.

An 18-year-old student was arrested after a journal was found detailing plans to shoot his classmates at ACES High School in Everett.
According to the Everett Police Department, the 18-year-old’s grandmother called 911 Tuesday morning after finding the journal and believed the threats to shoot students at the school were credible.

Officers responded to the house on the 10600 block of Holly Drive and were shown excerpts of the journal and were told the grandson had a semiautomatic rifle stored in a guitar case. As officers reviewed the journal, they were alarmed by the statements and detailed plans to shoot students and use homemade explosives

That's how you can put an end to this. That's right, a school shooting that didn't happen because a family member reported in the possible crime before it happened. If people would get involved with their communities, and family members would report these issues to the authorities when it goes out of controll, then these types of crimes would be dramatically reduced if not eliminated fully. The point is, people should drop the "Stiches for Snitches" crappola, and be proactive in taking back their communities.

We have police in our city high schools, but they're not really patrolling the school. They all are usually sitting around in their security office. The only time they come running is when the office notifies them of a fight or behavior problem. I've always said they should be walking the hallways. It would help keep students poor behavior under wraps during the change of classes. Unfortunately considering today's climate of school shootings, there should also be a bullet proof security booth with an armed guard at the entrance of these schools. It's a crazy idea, but I'm sure many parents would feel their kids are being well protected from a possible shooter.

I would also go as far as to create a hidden built in wall locked gun safe in every classroom. Only the teacher of that particular classroom would have the key to open it in an emergency. Teachers should have a right to defend themselves and their students. At least they don't have to sit there like sitting ducks. Most school shooters are themselves students so they've practiced and know these lock-down procedures.

My kids school would make a far left liberals head explode. They recite the Pledge, they meet at the pole for prayer, and they pray after games.
I know for a FACT, that if someone came in that front door carrying a gun they would be mowed down before they ever hit a classroom. It's a don't ask don't tell type thing in a wealthy small Texas town. If a kid snuck it in, if they were not dropped there they would be blown to pieces leaving that room.

By far one of the most ignorant comments I have seen on this topic.

The guy was 19 (laws already exist).
The guy brought a loaded weapon to a gun free zone (laws already exist).
The guy killed 17 people and injured m ore (laws already exist).

Gun control only applies to people who abide by the law. I am always amazed at the lefts ability to blame everyone but the person responsible and to top it off Democrats do it for political purposes only. Even those on the left who think they are morally superior to others and claim to abhor guns and say they need to be banned fail to mention they employ armed security for themselves. They want the guns gone with the exception of themselves, where exceptions must exist because they apparently think their lives are worth more than others.
