No Roberta Flack?! What madness is this? Mandela Effect?

Listen to the bass and snare and it's hooked you already. It's off her debut album which is all killer and not a shred of filler.

The recently late, though forever great, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. I got into them after looking into who played the drums on Amy Winehouse's Rehab song. The Dap Kings played session on the Back to Black album. Jones' vocals are staunch.

Here's a little curve baller that hardly anyone has ever heard of. One play of this and you'll love it forever. Letta Mbulu's more jazz than soul, but any excuse to share the track lol.

...and no Nina Simone? WTAF?

Woah, that Roberta Flack.. I loved her version of Sweet Thing and The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face... but have never heard this one!! On repeat now.

Nice call on the Sharon Jones. (BTW: Some members of the Dap Kings went on to form a band The Olympians, after Sharon passed away- would highly recommend checking out their stuff if you haven't heard it).theolympians.bandcamp.com...

That Letta Mbulu was completely unheard to me and so FUN!
Thanks for sharing!

As for Nina, got some Nina (pg 2) but could ALWAYS use more.

Big thanks for the Olympians link. New music FTW

There's someone we've missed out. This track should hit all your buttons even if you've heard it before. Blew me away first time I heard it. It's hip hop, soul, vocals, DJ scratching and jam session all in one. Jill Scott and The Roots.

Oooh, yes! Saw them all together live, 2006 or so. One of my favorite live shows of all time. The Roots walked up to the stage from the back of the audience, playing their way through the crowd marching band style. It was incredible. And Jill's voice is divine!
Found a live one... definitely has that special something!

Nice one! They're always counted as one of the best live shows going. You've seen some good performers. Who's left on the bucket list?

Too much, what's that?

There's a great music scene here in Denver. Lots of artists stop here on their way across the country, and we have one of the most beautiful venues in the country (Red Rocks Ampitheatre).
redrocksonline.com...

Who's left on the bucket list?

Interesting question! I really thought about it because I've never had a list, really, but what keeps coming back to me is that I've heard from numerous sources that Tool puts on an unforgettable show at Red Rocks. They would definitely be on a list if I had one.

Do you get to see a lot of live acts? Any favorites or must-see shows?

Great song! Love Lauryn Hill (especially with the Fugees)

Here's one I heard today; what a deep soulful voice Bettye LaVette has!
