I get the feeling that President Trump views Puerto Rico as a ChitHole too.

He certainly might, of course since PR is tied to the U.S. he might not say it out loud.
I have not paid much attention to the restoration efforts, I just read as of Dec 29 only 55% of the power restored.not sure if that implies a lacklustre effort, or just how devastating the event was..probably a bit of both.

I do think the same thing that happened in Haiti is probably happening in PR, people/contractors are cashing in.

Trump didnt call any a s-hole, he called the countries.

You're twisting his words and making excuses for his ignorance like many Trump supporters do. I really don't know what it's going to take for Trump supporters to realize this president is dangerous for America. If any liberal president acted this way you and many other supporters would be outraged, and rightly so. The ignorant need to stand by a political party and ignore it's leader's blatant lies, bullying, contradictions and narcissistic character is beyond common sense and logic. Americans complain about the narcissistic character and ignorance of a North Korean dictator, yet we have the same kind of leader who possesses these same traits sitting in the Oval Office!

Like I said, it was an insult and total ignorance for a leader of a country that prides itself on accepting immigrants to say such a thing! I don't know what you expect in leadership qualities from a president, but this statement and the many ignorant statements he spews out is NOT what I and many other Americans want in a president. He represents every American citizen when he talks, and shooting from the hip doesn't show any sense of intelligence on behalf of the POTUS. It surely doesn't help when it comes to "negotiating" with other countries, a skill he prides himself on, yet his poor communication skills certainly doesn't lead to that conclusion.

You lead by example. I can't imagine how many world conflicts we would have if every leader threw insults, engaged in name calling and had nearly zero credibility due to their chronic lies.

You discuss how poor background checks let criminals from countries with large criminal elemnts get in. EXCATLY!!! That is why a merit based system and choosing who we let in is a good thing.

Trump declared a complete ban on selected middle eastern countries, he doesn't take into account the individual. It's quite sad to think a person who wants to escape a dictatorship and conflict in their country can't immigrate to the U.S. because their entire country is banned. He also ignored Saudi Arabia completely! Saudi Arabia exports a rigid strain of Islam which contributes to terrorism. It's the biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the world today and Wahhabism remains the source of most radical Islamic extremism! I guess Trump's business ties and the 110 billion dollar arms deal had a lot to do with keeping Saudi Arabia out of the ban.

The Government is horrible and corruption and crime ruins that which the poorly run government doesnt.

For example the Countries of (Re:Government ) of Venezuela or Bulgaria are Sh#@*y.
The people are fine. That being said I don't want Low Skilled Venezuelans or Bulgarians coming over to the US unless we have an economic need for them.

Other countries leaders do say that.

Ruissia, North korea, many EU countries when criticizing things like prison population, health care, how americans vote, etc.

Nothing like side stepping the issue and ignoring the basic Sh*t hole comment. Criticizing government programs doesn't even compare to calling a country and it's people a sh*t hole. It's an insult, simple as that!

I'm pretty sure it was meant as an insult. Citizens of poorly run and governed countries should be insulted that the optimal strategy for a citizen to thrive , is to leave their country and go to a better land.

I'm sure it sucks to be born an average citizen of a badly run Country. If nobody says Mugabe's Zimbabwe is a s#!^ place, then maybe he stays in power till he sucks the whole country dry. Honesty and candor about things isn't a bad trait.
And yes. ....sometimes the truth hurts.

Would it have been better for him to just say the countries are poorly governed, full of corruption and crime and thst they continually screw their own citizens? There is no way to sugarcoat some things.

God I hate the country I live in.

It's a # hole.

For 9 GD years a certain crowd thinks running around calling their political opponents 'racist'

Is a legitimate form of debate.

It isn't.

Well what do you expect? The GOP isnt going to change after 9 years of calling Obama a racist.

Good point.. You keep sending money and "aid" to Haiti and Puerto Rico, with little oversight, and the population will always be screwed.

How many black/brown nations are better than white nations? Honest question. Africa? No. Middle East? No. Cuba? No. South America? No. Haiti? No. Jamaica? No.

How many people from white nations leave to settle in those countries?

ATS lately has been flooded with "alt-right" (that tender euphemism you neoracists and white nationalists" like to call yourselves now) goons and to be honest, I hardly recognize ATS anymore.

But this comment, for sure takes the gold. This comment is so blatantly racist, so blatantly ignorant and so blatantly full of covert white power ideology that it makes me want to vomit.

Latin America is filled with European immigrants. Mexico has over 25,000 italians living in it, over 75,000 spanish and over 250,000 AMERICANS. Argentina has over 75,000 italians. The same goes for Brazil, Costa Rica, you name it!

Shame on you.

Nothing lately about it. This infiltration has been going on since the Bush era when the "patriot/militia" movements really started to get big. Those have evolved or been co-oped into the alt-right we are seeing today empowered by a president that "tells it like it is" and is an "oustsider".

It isn't racist and it wasn't just at Africa. Merit based immigration is a system used in many other countries to great success. This diversity lottery and other BS does nothing to serve our interest.

maybe more people can be educated about Haiti

The information has been out there...even in the MSM...

Textiles represent 90% of the country’s exports

shutracism.com...

US taxpayers are making it easier and cheaper for foreign and local clothing and textile companies firms to set up (sweat)shops in Haiti, lay off better paid workers in the US and other countries, and increase their profits. If Levis and the GAP can get their clothes stitched in a place that pays US$5.00 a day rather than US$9.00 an hour (approximately the lowest wage paid in US-based clothing factories), with new infrastructure, electricity, UN peacekeepers to provide security, and tax-free revenues and other benefits, why not?’

Does the above concern you. Start picketting cheap clothes - visit their corporate HQ, start a protest. Bring jobs back from Haiti dont wait for politicians to somehow one day wake up and take the moral high ground.

haiti is poor because of rampant corruption . history is just that history. corrupt official in their land and corrupt people in our country did this . but it is a cesspool that is why they pile up on boats and rafts and what ever they can find that floats to leave.

Why don't they just walk over to the Dominican Republic and visit Charlie Rangel?

Why is it assumed to be true?

Whether or not it's true, is not the point here.

This was another case where accusations are automatically considered true, without one shred of proof.

Accusing someone of anything isn't required to be proven at all? This is the real goal, no doubt...

i keep checking this thread for what i consider the obvious. Your post comes the closest.
Trump might be working with even Durbin on this.

So, somehow Trump said something bad, about Haiti... mmmmk.
Now everyones attention is on Trump and the topic is $hi*hole Haiti.
Did Trump do damage to Haiti? Because he said a bad word, allegedly?
What he did is get everyones attention on him and Haiti.

I gotta wonder when the deflection begins by addressing the Global Foundation that stole billions of Haitis donations in the relief efforts after the earthquake that devastated the people.

But at least Hillary never said $$$t hole.
So, where is Eric Braverman in this?
