Ok, a little background on this next one...

This one is from actually from early 2015...
It's titled Note To My Kin, and there is actually a story behind this.

I'd written a suicide note...
I was at my lowest point ever...

I decided to check myself into the psyche unit, so no one I loved would be the one to find me.

Memory of the first couple days in there is foggy, to say the least, but something happened...
Something I can only describe as divine intervention.

I was inspired by what I consider to be an Angel, to try and combat the note I'd written only a few days before...
As an attempt to nullify the initial thoughts I had with a positive perspective from my life.

I did exactly that...
And while it still took another week or so of struggling with the mindset that took me there, persistently drilling the verse into my head eventually convinced me I couldn't discard this blessing I received.

And I always come back to it when I start to fall back into that abyss.


I am considering a separate thread for this one too, because I'd love to be able to spark a fight in anyone else on ATS who is silently suffering.
It's so hard to overcome, and surely it is a person's (mine in this case) duty to be of assistance in anyway to others who face a hardship that person conquered.

This is tremendously powerful. I just love the story behind your verses (which gave me chills).

Weird, too, was just listening to a Geto Boys cd driving and the song that came on had Bushwick Bill talking about wanting to commit suicide, about shooting his eye out, and I thought how important it was that people talked about that in their music (no joke!).

Up to you obviously to share or not on your own thread... this is so personal so powerful and raw. Thank you so much for posting here. (SO glad for that blessing that kept you here )

This is my donny FR AKA Frenchie with a tribute to his boy who passed away.

I can tell you all now, not only are all my team lyrical/flow kings, but in regards to this, though I never knew FR's mate, even I even got tearful.

My team are pure talent.

Seems like a bit of Universal synchronicity hit you there with myself and Bushwick.

If I recall correctly, Note To My Kin might be the only thing I've ever written (since 2008) that is actually fully autobiographical.

I do have the odd line scattered throughout many other verses that relates to my personal life, but no whole song.
It's not something I could consider as one of my ''talents'' in all honesty.

So, to elaborate on the relevance of the above, Note To My Kin has a pretty special place in my heart, for two reasons.
Firstly cos of how it saved me, of course...
But also cos it is a one-off in terms of opening up.


Gonna start making some other recommendations for you in a minute.
I hope you enjoy them (it's very different lol).

Had to make one today, to distract myself...

My day started at 6am, with police barging in with a warrant to seize my dog Ghost in accordance with the Dangerous Dogs Act. I've been raging ever since.

And as if things couldn't get any worse than that, I found out a few hours later that my closest friend had overdosed last night and was hospitalised.
Considering my most recent thread, the irony is palpable.

I honestly don't think I've ever had a crappier Valentine's Day in my 30 years of existance.

Currently I've had no updates on my canine buddy...
The silver lining is that my mate eventually regained consciousness this evening.
Among the turmoil, we were given that blessing at least.
