I'm in PH from late Dec to Feb, and was playing with a idea of visiting friends in Seoul..

Personally I think it is nothing more than scare mongering, if the US was going to make a move it would have done so prior to the hype. Any move on NK that is not an internal coup would mean a unbelievable cluster f#ck of blown up noodles..

If the west or allies where to invade or take military action then the retaliation from artillery towards SK would be devastating and that is without a Banzai move with nukes.

Fat boy is actually in a fairly strong position..

My only concern is the military industrial complex will need a new revenue source so all bets are off to what BS paid mercenaries would pull to start something..

Aye right coz North Korea is the bad guy for simple proliferation of there nuclear armaments program whilst is fine for the rest of the big boys to upgrade their toys of mass destruction at there own leisure???

The only thing that's getting real is that the big boys on the block are chucking their toys out the pram because N.K regime and Little Kim refuse to go the same way as Hussein and Gaddafi did.

If there is a war it will be Trump, America and the U.N doings that cause such, that's pretty much a given.

yep... i think we (the west) will try to do a decapitation strike while putting someone in place the North Korea's will like...

as for NK's feared dug in artillery.. i think

a) we have some kind of technology that works like a large forcefield.. you can see it, its generated through modules on the ground.. anything goes through it, its vaporized

b) we have thousands of trained paratroopers all have been studying NK's artillery systems and where they are located and the terrain... thousands of them will be airdropped 3-4hrs before the decapitation strike to go and destroy as much as they can, again with a new technology that renders people and artillery usesless without a shot being fired...

those 3-4 hours while the paratroopers are on the ground and the decapitation strike takes place are the most dangerous..

if the paratroopers are revealed and their attacks given to Fat Boy before his demise then Fat Boy will give the order to attack...

once the first salvo's are ineffective, Fat Boy will shoot his nukes at Tokyo and Seoul... but the US, Japan and China will shoot them out of the sky before they even make it past stage 1.. then, the US will drop a tactical nuclear weapon on Fat Boy, claim it was in response to the nuclear attack... all forces of the NK will be given the option to surrender and be let go freely to go home... or die.... 99% will surrender just like Iraq

China and the US will divide North Korea up..

Why not just use guns and C4 charges as they actually exist and work just fine? For that matter what wrong with smart bombs/bunker busters being used rather than 1000s of paratroopers with imaginary weaponary?

far fetched and science fiction, but i want to believe Trump realises the value in using our tech...

on the assumption the military is x years ahead of the consumer world... a man can dream cant he?

because keeping it quiet is the key...
you cant detonate C4 and alert everyone... you need the half dozen or so men manning the artillery piece to be silenced quickly and quietly.. the idea is to render as many useless as possible before word gets out.

New untried technologies, untested in the field, against people defending their sovereign land equates to one very large cluster four letter word.

Smart bombs would render the same equipment useless from the air stealthily and relatively silently a hell of a lot more effectively than 1000s of paratroops, and with a hell of a lot fewer lives lost.

1000s of paratroops cannot be deployed silently even with today's technology.

Sure they can but that won't make large forcefield technologies any more plausible given the technologies available and power requirements for such an alleged device.

Kim has very few ICBM that could indeed be intercepted by our own anti-missile systems even with there 50% failure rate just down to the amount we would launch, no need for imaginary forcefields.

Your dream is other peoples nightmares, just a thought.

It's times like these that I really question living in NYC. I mean #, just the last two terror attacks were in either my work neighborhood (truck attack) or on my subway line (port authority bomb). It's a bit scary knowing NYC was a major target going back to WWII.

Look for the stock market to raise, especially defense and related industries. Money to be made here on war rhetoric...

He's saying what most of us fear , it makes sense to prepare for the worst but I don't think this is an indication of anything that is going to happen , but it could.

I don't think Trump or the people advising him are stupid enough to open that can of worms , I hope they don't prove me wrong.

Trump have one problem and that is that he cant strike first. If he attacks NK first both Russia and Chine will step in.

The problem with that is that the US no longer can provide safety for SK and Japan. The US will probabaly have enough just trying to protect Guam, their forces in SK, sea of japan.,.....their Fleet.

Russia have already massed a lot of air defence systems on the boarder of NK and along the Sea of Japan. And i dont think Russia thinks NK will flee to safety by air to Russia or China. Russia will target the US fleet if the US make a wrong move.

The US dont have enough forces or other assets to tacle NK. And for sure not if Russia and China get involved.

THe other thing is. IF NK observe that the US are building up massive forces in SK or Japan. NK will attack. This means that if the US can not stop the initial attack these forces will be targeted by weapons of mass destruction. THis probably means a total destruction of US forces in Japan, Guam and SK.

If the US attack in any way they will loose. What i mean by that is the US will not be able to protect SK, Guam or Japan. Or their own fleet.

Chances are a war will ensure him another 4 years in power through.

That is reason enough in itself for the likes of Trump to provoke such. As to the people advising him, i would not place to much stock in their intelligence or ability to control him.

Certainly, hope they manage to reign in any craziness he plans to unleash on the peninsula should his outlandish nonsensical demands regarding North Korean regime change not be addressed.

Thing is though he's apt to jump head first into some form of crazy scenario should little Kim present him with further opportunity.

SK has the winter olympics.... it would be a terrible idea for them to engage in anything.

I would expect us to wait until after the Olympics. It's a huge economic boost for the hosting country. We wouldn't want to ruin that on our ally SK.

This myth just won't die.

Most of NK's artillery can't reach Seoul, and the pieces that are capable of reaching Seoul can only reach the suburbs. They have tons of bomb shelters up there and drill routinely. Those areas could be evacuated before the action starts, or we could tell SK to hold a "drill" and get everybody in shelters, and then get started. There are options to significantly lower the potential casualties. And the main part of Seoul would be unaffected.

china isn`t going to go to war with north korea, the only reason that they would mobilize forces on the north Korean border is to keep the refugees out after America kicks north koreas ass! same with the russkies,mobilize troops to keep the north Korean refugee riff raff out after America puts north korea down like a rabid dog with a bullet to it`s head. nobody wants that riff raff swarming into their country.
