Yes had one over 50 at a seafood joint. Most vile mouth ever hahaha.

I'll never forget how he called tilapia til-labia and the many, many ways he used that to make his jokes.

When I worked on the line there and We were low on drawn butter for the lobsters and whatnot, we'd yell back to the little old prep ladies "blow*** butter!" Which sounded exactly like low drawn butter.

To this day I'm not sure if they noticed the difference lol.

And yes, I still call tilapia by it's funnier name whenever possible.

Is there a sexual way of referring to "finger" foods in the Chef world?

My wife says that I enjoy eating mussels out the shell because they look like... (you know what)

Actually, I think SHE likes watching me pry the shell apart and diving in, LOL.

lol!

I spent 40+yrs in kitchens, wouldn't change a thing.

Some of the best times I ever had.

My first wife was a waitress. One of the best I've worked with.

She could handle a whole room by herself and no mistakes.

I shoulda known then, there was something wrong with her, lol!

They all want to work under a good chef, tho.

Fun times.

Yeah..it's just that the time was right to get rid of him. Wholesale purgings going on in this environment. Not many suits being filed, but tons of allegations.

Not in our ops.

Our chefs may be assholes, but we wont let them be perverts.

I could be sued for allowing it.

It's amazing how little we working-people know about the social networks of high society.

It's been well known in chef/New York cooking circles about his behavior. Some people on this site actually worked in his kitchens.

Oh, and it was documented in the book Heat which was based on a journalist friend of his spending a year in the kitchen at Babbo.

Unfortunately this behavior didn't stop at this level.
What about the millions who don't work for high profile men but were victims none the less?
The secretaries or file clerks, or waitresses, who have suffered in silence for decades because they held no power.
I do not see that lots of women would abuse this movement. No one would want this kind of exposure.
But there is a big problem. Women have always known this. We need our supportive decent men to first say they will listen to us and second support us in making it stop.
We don't need some alpha males waving their arms and yelling witch hunt. That's just an attempt to silence us once again.

Too bad he couldn't behave. His bolognese recipe is killer. Perhaps the meat should have included a little Mario supresatta??

I did catch that, and for the record, I am a Bourdain fan as well.

I never really hung with the staff out of work but I can tell you I had to tell almost all of them to control their grabassery, even the women.

Newest witch hunt victim bites the dust.

Yes, part of my job is to research upcoming events in various cities, and Smiley is doing on where he travels around and does a stage show about MLK. I've used it in a couple of places because it's a nice one ... now, I'm not sure what the policy will be going forward because of the current controversy, plus venues may cancel if they feel the controversy too keenly.

I got caught the same way with Garrison Keillor.

Good question! There are many references to such foods. Most would probably violate rules though lol.

Use your imagination and I'm sure it's one that's been said.

It appears it isn't just Hollweird and the political class caught up in this new witch hunt but also the restaurant industry that panders to the wealthy elite. Here is an article about the elite restaurant The Spotted Pig in NYC where the owner is also involved in sexual misconduct and ole Mario seems to have frequented this restaurant quite often....

Nah kitchens are still totally inappropriate.

I'm in my mid twenties and when I was working in restaurant jobs a few years back, kitchens were rife with ass-grabbing/slapping, catcalls, "girl show me those fun bags if you want me to remake your tables food" and on and in etc etc etc....

It wasn't just the guys being perpetrators mind you.

Nah, pretty sure you're wrong. My kitchen is certainly not inappropriate, for one, everyone is on A+ behavior at all times in the BOH. Sure we joke, and have fun, but we have an open window that looks into the dining area, and guests can watch us cook anytime they want. For two, owners policy, one bad joke can get you canned quick. But for the most part all of us who work there like it that way, and everyone gets along like a big family. If someone does crack an inappropriate joke on the line they get the stare until they feel it, we take our jobs very seriously, and are a pretty elite kitchen. Just don't group all kitchens into one category, that's all.....
