I'm a huge Star Wars fan. Empire Strikes Back is my favorite movie of all time. I loved The Force Awakens. However The Last Jedi just felt off to me. As I was watching I couldn't help but notice how white people were portrayed.

I didn't have a problem with Rey, a woman, being a central character. I didn't have a problem with Finn being a black man. We're all humans and I felt the characters were great and had no issues with TFA. However watching TLJ I couldn't help but look at the racial disparities.

Let's take a look at all the new characters.
Rey - woman
Finn - black man
Poe - Guatemalan/American
Rose - Asian/American
Kylo Ren - white man -evil

But then take a look at everyone in the First Order. It was all whites. They didn't have big parts so I don't remember the names but I don't think I saw a single person of color in their ranks. You could say Finn but he had a moral compass and left so he doesn't count, plus that was in TFA so it's not the same movie. I will admit they had the token white woman in the silver storm trooper suit, but that's it.

I used to love Star Wars, but at this point it's political propaganda.

Pretty much every movie and television show has political propaganda.

Doesn't stop with 'race'.

Tarantinos racist heroes.

Avatar/Aliens it was the evil corporations.

Day after Tomorrow/2012 climate change.

Television had a show lived series with a TG person.

From Picket Fences to Boston Legal to that series that had Dylan McDermit in it.

Madam Secretary,The Good Wife and the list goes on.

One can not escape politics.

Star Wars is not any different.

Lando's the only black guy in the galaxy, and he betrays his best friend, nobody bats an eye.
Galaxy starts to accurately reflect human variation, people go ape-sh# (wookiee-sh#?)

How can you say Hollywood hates whites?

The bad guy Darth Vader is all black.

No, Luke, the bartender, Oh Big One...

The Establishment, heros and the hi priest were all white in the bar.

Also OP: IT’S RACIST!!!!!!!

Most films have a socio-political message if you look hard enough. How to Train Your Dragon had themes that warned against propagandising strangers (dragons) and overcoming prejudice. You could say it had the same message as BLM (breathe deeply and count to 10 slowly). Toy Story was against corporate greed. Shrek about social equality and against racism. Original Star Wars had Liberal and socialist values transcending Communist oppression in the Cold War. Yada yada.

I had tears in my eyes at the end of Train Your Dragon because it was a warm-hearted, funny film with a happy ending. Shrek was one of teh funniest films of all time when it came out. It was like something new. Star Wars was just a great action movie that's caused millions of people to dream of having Jedi powers. I still want Jedi powers.

What I'm trying to say is "Enjoy the movie! Stop dragging everything down into the political gutter."

I stand corrected. I saw it when I was 5 years old. In a future where interplanetary travel is possible, how is it racist to characters of multiple "races?"
What if Kylo Ren was played by Rudy Ray Moore?
Finn by Woody Allen?
Imagine the hilarious #-storm that would set off.

I get where you're coming from, but it's just business sense. Appeals to more people, more profit, and that means more Star Wars.

We're talking about movies and books (don't judge me!) that deal with aliens. I figure throwing in a few colors and genders in humans makes perfect sense.

Not one single Native American.
If there was, he was passed out on the floor out of camera angle.

I don't get why you are adding nationalities when your gripe is about people who are white, or not. I think you are selectively over-analysing and trying to find fault. It's a good cast with some cracking young (and old) actors.

Let's take a look at all the new characters.
Rey - woman (and English)
Finn - black man (and English)
Poe - Guatemalan/American
Rose - Asian/American
Kylo Ren - white man -evil (and American)

Let's see

Original trilogy - 3 main heroes - all white

Prequels - 3 main heroes - all white

New films - 3 main heroes - 1 black, 1 white and 1 who would considered white everywhere apart from the US.

Yep sounds terribly anti white..

Finn was a stormtrooper...he is black so the first order do have black folk in.
I think you are seeing things that are not there.

Funny.

I've noticed posts like yours on IMDB too recently. White supremacists whining about how movies and tv shows are including more diverse casts to further their evil liberal agenda to diminish white supremacy in tv and cinema.

Hilarious!

I have found a marvelous way to deal with this type of anti-white bias.

Don’t watch.

I just don’t buy a ticket or I turn off the tv and the problem is solved. We should be able to relax and be entertained without a side of political bias and liberal Hollywood agenda.

Oh, and Star Wars doesn’t hate White people, but Disney does. They have been social engineering our country for decades. They are the epitome of an evil mega-corporation.
