So is this "deep state" powerful and scary or not? Because it sure seems people like that former CIA guy are able to run their mouths about it, and sites like this are allowed to exist without anyone mysteriously disappearing.

People disappear from this site regularly, we are not allowed to talk about members so we really have no idea if indeed they have been disappeared by a secret entity or just left for their own reasons.

The world is actually pretty boring.
I think some people just can't accept that. People want the world to be like something out of a movie or TV drama, when it's really a lot more bland and boring.
Incredibly complex conspiracies with thousands of intricate moving parts are invented -- and somehow that seems logically more realistic than a much simpler truth ...
That the world is pretty damn boring, and the government is full of people just like you and I who put on pants one leg at a time, drive Honda's and re-use plastic supermarket bags for their lunches.
It's actually far scarier to consider that instead of some shadowy "Illuminati" or coordinated "Deep State" there's really no one in charge. No one is driving this bus, no one is steering Earth. We're all hurtling through space on this tiny rock, with the richest people all fighting one another to become more rich.
That, to me, is infinitely more terrifying.
