I work for a company that does in store displays. One of our customers is a company that makes nightwear and underwear for girls between 12 and 18. A lot of the stuff we do is 3D so you have to put the art on to the 3d model to make sure that the sight lines are OK. If the wrong person would look over my shoulder at the wrong time they would probably call the Police. We actually have certified documentation that the models are over 18, but, they sure don't look it.

I've always found it ironic that you could star in a porn film at 18, but , have to wait until 21 to drink a beer.

Classic example of why responsible adults are pissed that our youth are being taught about all these sexual techniques in our Federally run school systems????

Yet when WE speak out against it we are called all kinds of names????

In English law (i.e. England and Wales) there are two age distinctions.

1. Under 13
2. Under 16

In the law anything against a child under 13 is treated very seriously, while under 16 is dependent on circumstance.

Think your in the wrong forum because this is for alien stuff I think, but here goes.

You are referring to 2 differnt things..

1) layman’s definition of a pedo..

2) the legal definition of pedo.


The legal term is referring to pre-pubescent, so that would be like less than 10..

The layman’s definition seems to stop at 17, which is the legal age of consent most places, but is the perfect example of something that is subjective and different for everyone..

I personally would sat a layman’s pedophile requires over a 3-4 year age gap, ending at 16-17..

A 19 year old with a 16 year old starts to get shady, where a 15 and a 20 year old I would comfortably place in the pediphile basket.

Somehow, no one has gone after him for both dating and marrying his teen-aged adopted daughter.

Speaking in clinical terms, most pedophiles are sexually drawn to young children. Once the child develops secondary sexual characteristics, (public hair, boobs, periods) the true pedophile is no longer interested. Many of them don't have a gender preference, as long as it's a very young child. ( I have heard some say they prefer girls, but boys are easier to get to cooperate, and the parents don't keep such a close watch on them so it makes them an easier target.)

Well, I think that was the whole point of the OP question.

Where does "adult" begin and "child" end?

Some places it's 21, others it's 18, or 17, or 16. Some parts of the world 13.

Some claim it should be 25.

Is 25 the new cut-off point for adulthood?

Nope. Sexual offenses against a child are a crime against the state. The statue usually reads "a crime against the peace and dignity of the state of _______.

That's why they are prosecuted by the District Attorney.

eta: Parents can, however give an underage child consent to marry. In most states it's 16 or 17, but in others it's 14 or older, such as in Utah.

I think a fair stipulation would be to say the adult must be under 21 at 16... and maybe don’t push it if a birthday is close..


Anything worse than that I think should be jail worthy..

I agree that is a murky issue, and anytime it is questionable I think they should be given the benefit of the doubt, but 16 to 26 is too far for me personally.

It used to be normal here for a guy around twenty two to date a seventeen year old girl. That doesn't happen so much anymore, the society changed the acceptability of that. It was common for a husband to be four or five older than a girl.

So technically it is illegal for teenagers in high school to date anymore once one turns eighteen. So that means they have to break up and get new people to date. I talked to the local cops, they do not push that kind of thing. But technically a guy eighteen can go to prison for going out with the almost seventeen year old girl he has been dating for two years.
