Jerusalem is Israel's capital, says Donald Trump
President Donald Trump has announced that the US now recognises Jerusalem as Israel's capital, overturning decades of official US policy. Mr Trump described the move as "a long overdue step" to advance the Middle East peace process. The fate of the ancient city is one of the thorniest issues between Israel and the Palestinians. Israel called Mr Trump's move "historic" but there has been sharp international criticism.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim that the United States recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel and that the United States Embassy to Israel will be relocated to Jerusalem as soon as practicable.
He said he was directing the US state department to begin preparations to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Hamas says Trump has opened the 'gates of hell' by recognising Jerusalem as Israel's capital...they're putting red white and blue lights around the walls in Jerusalem.....its really going to get hot over there.

This reminds me of Trump's announcement to exit the Paris Accord. All manner of hub-bub created about it - except we can't exit the Paris Accord until Nov. 2020. So...nothing.
Trump loves his "just wait and see" line, I suppose.

If I read it right, someone was asking when Obama said Jerusalem was the capital of Israel? Not only did he say it was the capital of Israel, he said it should be undivided.

I almost forgot about this. This little fact seems to have slipped under the radar.

Saudi Arabia's King Salman told Mr Trump, according to a Saudi readout of their telephone conversation.
Declaring Jerusalem as Israel's capital, the King said, "would constitute a flagrant provocation to all Muslims, all over the world. ......all over the world is a lot of Muslims.....this looks like a different kind of war game
Lets see what happens next.

Did you read the full OP? Trump did exactly what Clinton, Bush, and Obama did. He still signed the same waiver of the 1995 law which delays the transfer of our embassy to Jerusalem for 6 months. So Trump in this instance is exactly what you're claiming he is not; he said one thing but still signed the waiver like the others did. From the OP's link:
After his speech, Trump signed a proclamation recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital, as well as the waiver delaying the move another six months.
ETA: As the OP noted, every single President since the law was passed has signed 6 month waivers every 6 months specifically to delay the transfer of our embassy there. Trump even signed the waiver before.

We have 6 months to wait I guess. Strange he said he would do it then turned around and basically vetoed his own announcement. Very strange.

Who knows? Sounds kind of counterproductive to his announcement. I'm sure some will come in saying it's a brilliant move on Trump's part... somehow.
