Ever seen a lunar eclipse? Then you've seen the curve. Ever stuck a stick in the ground, asked a friend in another country to do the same and then ring them and ask what the angle of the shadow is? Then you've seen the curve. Ever stared at a departing ship from sea level and then again from a higher elevation? Then you've seen the curve. Ever seen the stars shift in the night sky? Then you've seen the curve, or rather you've seen the rotation. Ever travelled from one hemisphere to an other, or flown to the other side of the planet and then noticed that you have to reset your watch? Then you've seen the curve.
All of these things are practical ways to observe the curve. There are more. Why not try some instead of sticking your fingers in your ears so you can scream real loud and then only unplug them after a mod told you to stop being so childish?

I don't understand one thing about your approach,

Science says first miles will have 8 inches drop.

I hope you don't dispute this fact .

1/2 miles means 4 inches drop
1/4 miles means 2 inches drop
1/8 miles means 1 inch drop
1/16 miles means 0.5 inches drop

It is not impossible to measure a flat surfaces flatness , we can use water levels , lasers , strings , sticks , you name it .

Why does it infruate people so much when I say i can't measure it , observe it ?

1/16 miles is about 100 meters and this distance easy to measure even if you can't see it with your own eyes , over 1/16 miles i.e 100 meters will have about 1.2 centimeters bulge in the middle .

I can't find it by direct observation , measurement and trust me in civil engineering terms 1.2 cm over 100 meters is a big deal .

I am not sticking my fingers in my ears at all ; I am focusing on the object that i want to measure .

Look , i don't really want to waste my time , you obviously made up your mind and it doesn't bother me that you believe in NASA and ISS .

You are watching CGI and I have a masters degree in multimedia software engineering from Nottingham University i know what I am talking about .

You just have dfficulty accepting that government agencies can be lying .

Which I found astonishing giving the fact that this ATS .

Thank you for your time but you are just trolling and flaming me .

Measuring the curvature of earth is hard because of extreme variables. You need maths.
The sea or a sizeable lake will always be moving, so just pointing a laser will always give you some deviation because you will not be able to make something straight enough. (try building something) .
Also... How do you know if your lazer is straight? Straight compared to what?
I live somewhere with big stretches of sea, and for me it is easy to see that the bottom of small islands in the distance become see-throug (also because of refraction their see through curve seems to be opposite of the curve of the earth) , especially with a low sun here in the Arctic.

Also remember you are never at the end of the curvature, you are in the middle of the curvature from any point.

No im actually not... just pointing out the obvious

And no i don't believe many government agencies EVER tell the truth...

Fortunately theres no reason for every scientific field to lie about the fact that the earth has a curve...

SO... let me get this straight from the guy with a "masters in multimedia software"

Because it won't have a 1.2 cm 'bulge in the middle'. The point you are looking for will have an infinitesimal drop downwards, theoretically speaking as geology gets in the bloody way. The Earth's surface is not a billiard ball.
The sea is the best way to observe this, or comparing what you can see from sea level and then from a higher altitude. Ever been to the Great Lakes? I have. Go to Chicago. Watch the big ships sail from there and then watch it from a higher elevation, like a skyscraper. Take a telescope. You'll see a difference.

Your 8 inch drop in every direction is based on a perfect sphere. We do not live on a perfect sphere.
Your calculations and measurements needs to be ove much bigger distances.

You've never seen and electron, yet you know better than to touch a live bare wire.

You've never seen X-rays, yet you know that they're used to take images of inside your body.

You've never seen a proton or a neutron, and yet I'm pretty sure you agree that both nuclear power plants and weapons work.

You've never seen microwaves, and yet you know radars, radios, TV all work just fine.

You've more than likely have never seen the geosychronous satellite that provides TV to tens of millions of people....and yet that antenna pointing in the sky works.

There are many, many things that you have not see, and yet, you trust the engineers and scientist that tell you that is how they work, and work they do.

Else you believe everything in the world must be magical......like a flat Earth, that the whole universe revolves around.....

Actually the earth is very, very much smoother than a billiard ball in scale.

Meaning if you blow up a billiard ball to the size of the earth it would have far higher mountains and far deeper oceans.
Interesting fact.

Here you go:

Picture was taken in Nov. 1935, well before there was anything like NASA.

Or GoPro cameras, etc.

It was taken when the balloon known as the Explorer II reached an altitude of 72,395 feet. The horizon is 330 miles away. The used a straight black line, and if you look, you'll see the curve of the Earth.

Don't believe it? Check it yourself. Grab the image, put it in a paint shop program and then place a straight line across it. You'll see that the ends of the horizon dip and the center rises up: a curve.

Explorer II

How do you know that is not pre-recorded ?

Please stop with these assumptions and presumptions ; you are taking NASA's word for it .

I don't take NASA's word as truth .

how do you know that this is live streaming ?

Even if it was live , have you not heard of augmented reality ?

Please leave me alone , you are just flaming and trolling me .

Science says first miles will have 8 inches drop.

Science says this? Or do you mean maths? If its maths, there are more relevant calculation an you can make.

I hope you don't dispute this fact .

It is not a fact, it is misapplied mathematics. The Earth's surface is not level, so a small sampling says nothing about its overall curvature. The best way is the trigonometric experiment you claim to have done with yardsticks and gotten a result at odds with every other experimenter who has tried it.

Explorer II

Please open it in a paintshop and zoom into the horizon and adjust the hue + saturation .

You'll see that the bulge is made up of cloud cover .

Besides , doesn't it strike odd that there is no other image available ?

Have you calculated the lentgh of South Dakota mountains and figured out what curvature should be there according to accepted values of Earth's given circumference ?

I can go into more detailed image analisys but it is getting late .

Have you heard about Dr Picard?

If it's a missapplied math than tell me what is the correctly applied math and I'll revise .

Can't you really see that the yard tick experiment doesn't measure the curvature in all cardinal directions ?

It'a a combination of Augmented Reality and Blue Screen effects , its about 17 years old, I worked with a Research scientists from University of Ulm in Germany , way back in 2003 when it was in it's infancy .
