Anyway none of the vids gave an explanation, so I Googled it for 20 mins but still couldn't find any explanation for it. Which in turn led me here for answers. Should I start a new thread in an appropriate forum?

I experienced this back in 2012ish near rochester mn. Had me freaking out. Then also was suprised this happened elsewhere..so its real. Only nasa knows.

Welcome and howdy!

As for this phenomena... there are videos on YouTube that describe what you seem to be describing. Like a sun dog only slightly different. The sunset gets mirrored in the east.

Someone on YouTube posted a video of what he believed was Niburu (snicker) but it was that phenomena. May want to look there.

If course I am just throwing that guess out there and I could be totally wrong.

Enjoy your stay here... it rarely disappoints and chances are high for a good honest belly laugh now and again.

The exact same thing happened to me about 3 years ago, even down to the fact i was walking the dogs. I filmed it because i couldn`t understand why there was 2 sunsets. I`ve even thought if i was brave enough and had the time that that would be a good thread for ATS. I was in the UK, where are you?

Going to go through my old external hds and try and upload the vid.

Acoustic here... self taught off of learning the songs I had on two albums. Led Zepplins Houses of the Holy and Exit Stage Left from Rush.
