Could Gender Dysphoria, "Transracialism," And The Like Be Evidence Of Reincarnation?

In the above video, it discusses a case that I remember reading about a few years ago: A three-year-old boy talks about remembering being murdered, and his village blows off the claims until he is able to show police where he remembers being buried. Sure enough, there is a skeleton there, and the skull is broken from a blow from an axe, and this location of the axe strike corresponds with a birth mark on the child's head.

There are many, many stories similar to this--stories that lend credence to the theory of reincarnation, and I for one have a mind open enough to consider this a possibility. I mean, we don't know from where consciousness comes or where it goes upon death--what if it's just particles that float around after death and before conception, and the spark of light at the point of conception is just a pre-existing consciousness that attaches itself to the new life?

Anyhoo, this isn't about my considerations about the afterlife, but to posit an related idea: What if gender dysphoria, or 'transracialism' (think Rachel Dolezal, or this recent thread), or any other similar "abnormal" behavior in people is just the result of reincarnation?

What if the previous life force (consciousness?) is still so strong that it is overpowering the mind/body of the new human host? I mean, I understand that none of this line of thinking is proven or even remotely provable at this point, but just...what if? Maybe this could explain bi-polar behavior, or schizophrenia, or myriad other ailments that we classify as being "disorders."

It's just something that popped into my head this morning out of nowhere, so I thought that I would share the idea for consideration on here. So, if anyone is so inclined, what do you think, ATS? There are so many unknowns about our universe and about life itself--does this sound like something that could be plausible? It really is something about which I'd like to hear others' opinions.

Thanks!

Slap

ETA: Please do not make this about religion, or the one specific example that I used in the video. This is about a broader idea and I absolutely am not approaching it from a religious standpoint. Also, I don't necessarily consider "consciousness" synonymous with the religious "soul," so if I argue that they're different, it's because I just don't see consciousness so much as an entity that can live forever in eternity, but more as a particle that contains coding that has, amongst other things, the on/off switch for life (for lack of a better, concise description).

Possible. If you're somebody who is inclined to believe in the soul and reincarnation, then this absolutely could be the result of soul that has been predominantly incarnated as one gender, being placed in the less familiar gender.

Occam's razor:

Occam’s razor, also spelled Ockham’s razor, also called law of economy or law of parsimony, principle stated by the Scholastic philosopher William of Ockham (1285–1347/49) that pluralitas non est ponenda sine necessitate, “plurality should not be posited without necessity.” The principle gives precedence to simplicity: of two competing theories, the simpler explanation of an entity is to be preferred. The principle is also expressed as “Entities are not to be multiplied beyond necessity.”

I was waiting for someone to make this thread.

Fascinating idea, isn't it?

The spirit leaves the body ONLY at death. An often taught lesson by the Apostles and early church fathers.

There is no such thing as reincarnation or OBE. You actually go into lucid dreaming driven and guided by a spirt and you believe or see a past life and/or told that was your old life.

Reincarnation and OBE are old occult teachings that go back to paganism teachings. It is a lie and part of gnostic teachings. Both practices are blasphemous against God and the teachings of the prophets.

EDIT LATER: Same with OBE ... you are shown while in lucid dreaming you looking back at yourself, then flying around and some can see n actual live time (this is done by the entity actually showing you real time activity while you think you are there when actually you are still in your bed) asleep... lucid dreaming....

I have similar thoughts some times.
What if transgender and homosexuality are proof of a soul?
And not only that , but that our souls have a masculine or feminine quality to them.
It's just speculations of course but it does make you wonder.

Are you saying you don't believe anything like the op suggests?
Because this all just being mental illness would be the simplest explanation, would it not?

Thanks for the profound insight in a thread that was obviously meant as a philosophical discussion.

Or Kidnapping.

Too bad the boy is too young, he may or may not understand the images that flood his mind are from the deceased spirit of a murdered soul seeking justice from the grave.

Perhaps the Scientologists should be claiming them all as proof of Thetans.

Well, no offense, but this isn't really a religious discussion, and since your beliefs are your own, let's not pretend that the Christian religion is the only one in the world or the only one that has the correct theories and teachings.

If you're unwilling to even consider the idea that I proposed, why even bother derailing my thread with religion? Yes, I understand that reincarnation is often linked to certain religions, but before "religion" was necessarily a thing, it was a philosophy--a possibility as to what may happen after death (and before, I suppose).

I'm talking theory and non-religious ideas. Please don't tie it into religion--IMO, that discredits the whole discussion when you do that.

I've meditated on the issue of gender dysphoria for a while now after first hearing the claims that its a "mental illness." Objectively it's not, there is a plethora of studies going back decades that say otherwise, and the only ones saying it is probably aren't even aware of the evidence (or they are and just want to irrationally hate people different from them).

My conclusion (philosophically, since I can't scientifically prove most of my conclusion) is that gender dysphoria, like other topics such as homosexuality, stem from either/or rebirth as another gender, and human enlightenment. We as a species are on the precipice of a great wave of knowledge and discovery. Slowly we're learning more and more about what it means to be human, and our relationship to one another as well as the Earth. And yes, even the universe.

But those on the left and the right have a lot wrong when it comes to these topics. Only once we shed away our social, political, and religious ideologies can we truly begin to know what a human really is.

Things will change for the better, I hope. And maybe one day we'll look at people who despise gays or trans people in the same way we look at bigots who think the Holocaust never happened.

it's a really good idea too consider. as I'm sitting here thinking about it, I wonder if perhaps it's also possibly the result of a sort of combining of spirits in passing?
it's speculated that we have soul groups that remain in our circle through reincarnations. what if two souls we so close in "spirit" that they merged?

...just a thought upon your thoughts

I have added a disclaimer to the bottom on my OP to address this, but I don't see the "soul" and "consciousness" as being the same thing. Hell, I'm not even convinced that a "soul" exists, at least not as described in the many world religions that I've researched.

But I think that we're on similar ideas, just approaching from different terminologies and understandings.

Great thread!! I have done much study on this that was kicked off by reading "many lives, many masters" by Brian Weiss, www.brianweiss.com... . I have no doubt that we come back time after time. Reincarnation seems to have been in the Christen Bible and was removed because the Church thought it removed control over people if they thought you came back again!!

There are quite a few tales of reincarnation like the one the OP presented that defy explanation.

That being said, I haven't heard of a reincarnation claim being tied to transgenderism.

I used to have a friend, whose daughter used to ask people if they remembered when she was a Chinese boy. She grew out of it by the time she was around 5.

Almost everything is possible...

This is something that I've considered, but on a grander scale--I even proposed the idea in a different thread, but I can't find it anymore.

I proposed the idea that 'consciousness' is dispersed as multiple particles upon death, and that during conception, all of the pieces needed to create a human being come together from random sources and that is where we get the foundation of our intelligence, personalities, and possibly even sexual orientation or feelings of gender.

Basically, considering the idea that our consciousness is a puzzle, created by random puzzle pieces, to create the unique individual.

I love contemplating some of this stuff...
