I've have double redundant backups (including an HD image) but that's because I like messing around and have often screwed my system up royally. I'm aware of ransomware, but not that concerned.

This is a direct attack.
The article is disinfo but made to send a message to POTUS.
You are witnessing history.
Coincidence?

a reply to: darkbake After the Arma download thing. I opted for a bigger case and a whole new rig. I needed the room for the extra wires without them interfering with hardware. Then I started using Steam only. I get nervous about using a cloud. What if it goes down? I did just set up cloud service on my windows phone to get used to it and see if that may be something I would be interested in. I have alot of gopro videos and pictures of all my cave diving and backpack adventures that I would like to have saved on the cloud incase something happens to my stuff.

a reply to: Phage I used to mess around with my older rigs alot and mess them up all the time. Then I went all out on my current one and had a IT friend give me a few lessons on how to mess up my crap. Since then only one big issue which happened because of a power surge. I got lucky with that and had my system built with protection and it was plugged into another. Still caused problems but Microsoft was able to send me an update to correct it.

With the government’s rush to have everything “connected” they regrettably had some unqualified contractors and employees who left the backdoors open for these guys, some intentionally and some not.

Unfortunately people are in a hurry and many times the protocols sent up to ensure security are not used.

So someone figures out a work around, tells a couple of people to help them out with their workload and then you get a hole. If you have hole you have a potential for a leak.

And then you have to contract' 'plumbers' to fix the leaks.

But wait, wasn't Snowden a hero to the Left?

He ended up in Russia. He stole NSA secrets.

Hopefully someone uses hacking tools to expose some of the bad stuff our government is doing.

Yes, he did. The tone and the language used in the article suggests that Q is correct.

a reply to: Phage I got hit with a ransomware one time. Damn old Arma1 download. Lost everything on my main drive. So I came up with that. And I like what you did there
where is our Tron?

Why not setup a virtual machine and avoid the hassles? Ifsomething is wrong i just remove the vm and create a new one. Takes about 10 min and makes it impossible for your drives to be attacked.

a reply to: dashen Well I guess it's a good thing I use multiple hard drives and have a hard switch that can connect my backup main drive loaded with Linux and a switch to disconnect my main windows drive for this exact reason. If anyone is worried about this type of thing that is the way to deal with it. Linux will allow you to recover date that you need and transfer to another drive then you can wipe the affected drive and load up your system if need be.

I always have to laugh a bit about people that store sensible data, or data of worth, on computers that are connected to the internet. If i would get such a message, that my computer is hijacked, i would switch off, format the ssd, play the OS up again, problem solved. Nothing would be lost, because i store my stuff not on my computer that is connected to the web. There is even just one ssd harddisc in it, for the OS and some progs. If i need to download something, i use external harddiscs, that are connected to that computer just for the time of downloading.

On the other side, where in the web do you have go, so that your computer get´s hijacked?
Do i have to use e-mails and click on every check that appers, do i have to open every e-mail attachment to get attacked by viruses and whatever? What do i have to do to get attacked, hijacked or whatever?
It seems that hackers just hate me and my computer, because i never ever had problems with such stuff!
But maybe it´s just the way i use the web, at the highest level of caution to which websites i visit and what i do with my data.

I think its a counter Q story . If everything was so hacked I don't think we would be reading stuff like "The US is operating three carriers in the Pacific for the first time in a decade " www.cnbc.com...

Interesting would be to see nsa computers being held hostage under their own ransomware. That would be a pretty sight.

That piece does reek of "strategy." Which should make everyone go, "Hmmmmm?"---as opposed to "Russia!" But hell no...wherever the MSM tells them to go.

Remember when Admiral Mike Rogers of the NSA went off the radar for a meeting with the President?

Maybe it is all Russia, then again maybe Russia is only the oft repeated misdirection/excuse.

That article is a hit piece plain and simple. It seems less focused on reporting and more on expressing vitriol against the agency

Definitely a curious piece and look how easily it was absorbed by many without even a second thought. Swallowed whole.
