Big part of the Bolshevik idea was the collective. Rule of the proletariat, that a single dictator has hijacked it is unfortunate but not a property only communism has. Monarchies are much worse and still alive and kicking.

It took dictators to enact Communism. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Just the same as maintaining it.

Capitalism (producing goods or performing services, and exchanging them for other goods / services without The Government breaking you back for it) isnt inherently an ideology. Communism is!

And the only way Communism can work is if everyone agrees and fully participates. If people dont then the system breaks down. Therefore it MUST be ENFORCED. And that's why it takes tyrants to even get it off the ground, keep it in place. Even banning all other religions & ideologies and making The State / The Party the one and only 'religion' of the land isn't effective enough, and tht's the only hope it ever has of working short of The Boot. And yet every time The Boot and The Gulag still had to run roughshod in trying to maintain it.

With "capitalism" those stipulations arent inherent iron laws for it to function. With Communism its been proven to every single time.

There is no collective. There are individuals and their families/friends, who will do anything to support one another. They may have a this veneer of care for their "collective," but in the end, they care enough to pay lip service to it but nothing else.

Groupthink is having opinions because other people around you also have those opinions.

It is not having opinions because you've come to a well reasoned set of convictions that some others also share.

Everything is groupthink under your definition.

Groupthink isnt merely opinions, its ideology. And anyone via their opinions can be targeted into groups, and those groups can be honed into ideologies. The ideologies can be stoked with supremacist fervor, and the people in them can be turned to blind loyalty / rabid fervor / self-censorship / collective narcissism / learned psychopathy / violent angry mobs AND SO ON.

This is primal urge stuff within all of us. There's s silent nagging in outr subconscious to fit into groups, and for our groups to be Exceptional (over other rival groups). Then groupthink naturally kicks in; the larger the group there more power it has over the individual and the dumber each becomes while in it.

Leaders / rulers that know this can almost effortlessly wield this power over us to achieve their ambitions.

This is the glue that holds societies together, and this same force can just as readily be exploited to turn that 'glue' into an explosive.

And the more people insist on denying these facts of life / human nature, the more hopelessly they are open to being utterly ruled by them.

No, personal achievement leading to rapid advances in technology/science/medicine is what made us successful.

"The collective" has never done anything. Every single achievement has been at the hands of a visionary individual who usually went to great lengths/personal risk to make a discovery.

What has "the collective" ever done? The very idea of that minimizes the achievement of our founders and ancestors who literally built Western civilization. That was 100% commie free, American raised achievers, pioneers and visionaries.

Oh well, no reason to get bent out of shape over some commie-delusions. Never going to happen here.
