The end of your paragraph made me think of something I read a few years ago, in Canada. There was this man ( I forget his name at the moment ) and he was saying that HE was one of the most intelligent man in the country, and that for a decade HE and his friends tried to convince us, the people, that we NEEDED immigration to survive as a society, and that since they could not convince us, we should just believe his words, because smarter than us said so.

I thought if after 10 years you don't have convincing arguments, maybe it is because you just don't. So they do it not to help anyone but themselves, on the back of everyone else, citizens and immigrants alike.

The entire Republican/GOP agenda has been exposed as crap for the middle and lower income populations of America. All of it. Greed is their mantra. Conservatives have lost their once grand party. Nothing proposed by Republicans in the legislative or executive branches of our government since Trump took over, with Russia's help, is good for the country. Nothing. Their policies are awful. Just awful. May the Grab Our Pussies party the GOP has become fail under the weight of compassionate resistance. Republicans no longer represent America. Their agenda is exposed.

As a liberal, I would much rather error on the side of compassion than the greed and hate conservatives have sold their souls for.

May conservatives find enlightenment and realize their party has been hijacked by those who divide us.

We don't need the government to keep us fighting among ourselves....we do a great job all on our own.

They (not the Russians per se) put Trump in there so that we'd get this sort of polarization. If you don't think Trump is a willing participant in the charade then I'd have to say you aren't paying close enough attention.

It seems that the Liberals want to have immigration to get people to do work, they want to have an easy life. The problem is that if you are sitting behind a desk all day or not doing hard work, you get unhealthy and disconnected from reality. It is called entitlement. To me there is no more prestigious job than working in a field or growing livestock. If it is done in a natural way. Remember, it is not the farmer that creates the chemicals that are spread on the fields that are harming us and nature, it is the educated chemist that creates these things, people with degrees. It is also the highly educated people who created all the plastics and unnatural food additives.

I like the internet for research, but people are starting to lose their reason-ability because they rely on the internet and technology to do things for them. People will spend more on their cell phone per month than they spend on food, choosing unhealthy food just so they can get the phone. Also cable packages for TV can cost more than it costs a person to eat.

I just made a big pot of chicken soup for my daughters because they were sick, the whole pot ran nine bucks, one whole chicken and some veggies and noodles. I thought it was a little bitter, a little too much lemon and almost half a shot of wine, but it worked great and immediately. So, we do not need to hire an immigrant to make soup. Our young can learn to do things, but our society steers them away from doing regular work like we used to do years ago. This kind of philosophy can jeopardize our societies future. All societies that got entitles like this on a huge basis have collapsed over time. I kind of want our country to survive. Our kids can learn the trades and how to grow food to survive, that is the sensible way of doing things.

There is an alternative to this. Find good candidates to run. Hillary was a con and she messed up too much to even qualify as a candidate. We need to split the difference and get congress to work together.

I am not that fond of Trump, but his idea to bring jobs back is very good. We cannot survive as a consumer based society, our country is way too big. We cannot survive as a sick nation, with the medical industry gobbling up all the money everyone makes, we need to get healthier, not spend more on healthcare.

The companies that make meds also are involved in companies that create chemistry that requires us to take meds. They train the doctors.

Technology is a fact of life. It drives the economy, it's capitalism, free enterprise and American as apple pie.

Now it's a matter of Lead, Follow or get the #### out of the way. We aren't going to return to an agrarian society, and
all the leaders care about is profit. The military industrial complex is the determinant factor in todays world and the
the plebeians are just there to pay taxes.

Enjoy your pie in the sky hippie dreams but reality is much different and if you haven't learned that from your time on ATS;
something is cognitively wrong.

How can they justify the amount of money going into the MIC? By creating wars and enemies out of thin air.

The MIC is the biggest ponzi scheme in the world yet people are willing to throw even more money at it. Sad.

The MIC isn't stupid and they market their product [ WAR] just like toothpaste, cars and candy. But use fear as the operating principal. We now have a bigly fear monger in office as twitter in chief.

Get ready for the next big war somewhere. Sign up your kids, for the glory of being a part of it! MAGA, MAGA, MAGA!!!

I have a saying that gets a lot of people angry when I say it; "Well, this must have been created by someone who went to the university!" It's like insulting their mamas, or worse. They take it very personal, as if their entire beliefs HAD to be based on what "more educated" people said, or it would have no value otherwise, not thinking by themselves, only sponging...
My daughter who is actually going to college thought I was a little nuts because of that. But this semester, she has 2 teachers who told them they would learn to think by themselves and not automatically rely on someone else's saying. And she is starting to understand what I have been plainly telling her since she was born; know yourself, and think for yourself. Do research, don't take the easy way as facts.
It is struggling to her because of social media peer pressure. But she's getting there. And my 2 youngest child are understanding the concept earlier than she did because they can see the negative impact it has sometimes on her to follow blindly. But still, I need to constantly remember them.

And as you pointed out, making them do some work always feels as if I was making slaves out of them. But once the job is done, they can see the value in it and feel rewarded simply for having accomplished something by themselves.

And all of the Donald Trump supporters ensured us he was "anti-establishment," and constantly defended him for "playing 3D chess," for each very clear established move that hurts the American people.

Trump cuts overtime for salaried employees... "he's anti-establishment!"
There's still no wall, Hillary isn't in prison, IS isnt destroyed.... but I digress, they excuse literally everything.

Donald Trump is more of the same. Wikileaks was "allowed," to happen and Trump was their Plan B.

And, as the case always is, we get even further screwed by billionaire con-men.

What a time to be alive.

I'm almost certain that despite this thread rasing the question of divisive and polarising issues being a distraction, that ATS will continue to argue over trivial and polarising issues.

Here on ATS I have seen several similar threads rasing this issue and they never seem to change anything here.

I guess folks like to argue about trivial and polarising things.

No, I honestly don't see any equivalence in the mission between our two presiding political factions. We could argue about tactics deployed all day long as there is always one moron willing to serve as an object lesson on idiocy for the evening news cycle. But in terms of mission, the agenda, the missions are not equal. The conservatives don't even want the policies passed into law their party has been preaching. Three strikes on the ACA, thankfully. Followed by a horrid E.O. The policies coming from Trump and the GOP and the constant deployment of divisionary and diversionary tactics, will not improve our lives, our communities, or our shared human experience.

We are capable of so much more. The politics of greed creates scarcity. Scarcity creates desperation. Desperation creates crime when resources that are basic human needs can't be legally secured for one's family.

People are hurting and starving unnecessarily. We should not need to be in competition with one another. We are cooperative and compassionate beings meant to reach the stars we gaze at above. Seriously. With, not against. This agenda of constant division is not our future. Bullying must end. Hate must stop. Me before you subjects us all.

I wonder what Elon Musk is doing today? I wonder what the mother will do tonight who doesn't have food for her children? That's what we should be doing together. Not seeing how far we can divide ourselves into the least common denominator.

May we find our way. Together. Someday if not this Sunday. I'm going to go throw the tennis ball for the dog. Some unconditional love for the soul from a loyal dog can be as good as soup. I ramble.

Peace

Yep, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what's going to happen. People are addicted to conflict and drama and they'll keep running right back to it to get their "fix".

ATS has turned into drama-queen central here lately, thanks in no small part to the drama-queen we have in office who gives them their daily dose.
