A law enforcement official says Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock bought 1,000 rounds of tracer ammunition a month ago from a private seller he met at a Phoenix gun show.
The official says investigators searching the hotel room Paddock used as a sniper's perch found tracer rounds and a document with the name of the Mesa, Arizona, man who sold him the ammunition.
The official is involved in the shooting investigation and spoke anonymously because the official was not authorized to disclose case information.
Tracer bullets contain a pyrotechnic charge that illuminates the path of fired bullets so shooters can see whether their aim is correct.
The official says Paddock met the man in Phoenix on Sept. 9 and 10 and that the sale took place at the man's Mesa home.
The tracer ammunition that Paddock bought were .308-caliber and .223-caliber rounds.
The official did not know whether Paddock used tracer rounds during the attack.
The official declined to identify the seller.

(CNN)Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock fired special "incendiary" bullets at a 43,000-barrel fuel tank in what investigators believe was an attempt to cause an explosion, two law enforcement sources told CNN. Those types of rounds, meant to ignite what they hit, were found inside Paddock's room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and near the fuel tank a short distance away on the grounds of McCarran International Airport, the sources said.

Yeah, I find it hard to believe he thought he could burst those tanks with the bullets he had from that distance. Right? Something seems off about that theory. He planned this so meticulously, but didn't take into account what he would need to bust those fuel tanks??
Paddock never shoot these shots.
Look at the top and bottom image: Do you honestly think he could have made that shot from the 32 floor? No bloody way.
How did he sneek that bullet up under that small ledge?
Dont you People pay attention to details?

Ok I can't say that I'm on board with all your theories, however you do make an excellent observation here. From the 32nd floor at a distance of roughly 2100ft - how the hell does the bullet hit the very top of the tank just under the lip/ledge?? That really doesn't seem at all possible.
Someone prove this wrong or I'm going to be absolutely convinced THIS shot was not from the 32nd floor. Just to clarify, that doesn't mean I believe no shots were from the 32nd floor.
