Have you taken in any of Jordan Petersons lectures on Religious beliefs ? I find them pretty good . He looks at it from a evolutionary perspective .

Yeah, I really dig that guy in fact. He has the right approach too. At first I wasn't sure about him. When I first listened to him talk I was like "what's this guy trying to say here??" Because there was some issue with him and he was talking about his politics also all kind of mixed together. But the things he was saying as just ideas were totally right in how he stated them so I kept listening.

But yeah, he's a very smart and very insightful guy. Just a really good guy too in what he's trying to get people to understand and the effort he's put out. But he gets a lot of trouble coming at him from people who I don't thing get it. They just see him as a Right Wing Target or something or that he's pushing an unacceptable dogma but that's not it at all.

He has a very interesting way of seeing things and his opposition should just step back for a second and listen to him. Doesn't mean you have to agree with him in everything or all his specific ideas. But even those that you many not agree with, he typically explains exactly correct. It's just a matter of personal choice to go with it. But he's correct in the way he sees stuff.

WTF are you all arguing sperm and women's brains? What has that to do with the original topic and OP?

Serious question.

LOL.

It branched off the main topic and has just been a sort of amusing side topic.

But it makes for a good example of what this OP is about though. It's the kind of bad idea which takes hold when we allow Beliefs to mix with Facts. You end up having people walking around with a tainted body of knowledge which they live by and make decisions by that can lead us in the wrong direction overall.

For now it's just kinda keeping us amused to some degree. But it's still applies here if you see how it first came up and why. Otherwise, ya, it probably seems like we're way off topic with it.

It was thrown into this melee of thoughts. It may as well stand on its own. It's like we live in a parody of the reality we were taught was real. Why not let the absurd take precedence?

Aren't schools and teachers supposed to be progressive? They go with the times, not against. Especially science.

I think we have a different definition of "progressive" hehe

Perhaps.

You might be thinking of "regressives" which applies to both sides.

I suppose it depends upon the objective.

Importance taking precedence would seem more practical than absurdity. Although probably less entertaining.

But if the objective was entertainment rather than practical application you could go that route.

Of course being that the outcome may not produce what you expect who knows what actually will be the result of any conversation. Something you think is important may result in nothing while something simple could end up resulting in unexpected conclusions you never knew possible.

high school teachers are not necessarily progressive. mine certainly weren't.

How old are you? Today's education aligns more with careers that do not require high performance to succeed. Do your time and you are basically bullet proof at some point. I don't blame them, if I was in a job that didn't require profit to make ends meet I would be the same.

I'm not knocking teachers, I know a bunch or really good ones, but just saying...

Maybe, I'm not religious, but for me progressive is another word for pure socialism and when the Government controls most there is no room for religion. The extreme end is communism that basically outlawed religion, so back from that a little and my point is most teachers would be more in align with an atheist than a religious person.

Progressiveness also means constant change to the whims of the majority and that my friend would doom the Constitution that would be changed constantly as a living document.

I think Progressive was meant in a more general sense as in simply expanding or changing over time. So being that over time our knowledge of things "Progresses" so should our Teachers in order to keep up with what new information we've gained.

That would be my guess anyway. Since any kind of implied political slant or ideology being included would be a limiting factor which would be the opposite of what you'd want when it comes to the general idea of Education.

No outcome should be expected. The more unlikely the result, the more fnord.

Aren't you then in a way "expecting" fnord???

I'm not sure if it's possible to totally remove expectation completely. There is always some kind of even very subtle expectation within anything isn't there??

Also, as a general rule isn't less fnord better than more. Unless of course the whole point is for more for whatever reason. Or do I have my definitions wrong???

Yeah, I know. But I always have hope that they'll stop using it in that one limited way.

It's a good word and can be used in a variety of ways that are much more useful after all.

It never made sense to me why anyone would choose to reduce the usefulness of language when not needed. It's like only ever driving your car with 1 gallon of gas all the time. I mean you can do it like that but it's certainly not the best method and is only making your travel more difficult than it is.

In all honesty the school in this case is so out of line as far as the accusations are concerned that I don't think they will have budget left by the end of it. And to hell with the taxpayers, they are local and support that school. It's their bed.

Well, that's just it. Although they're out of line, if such a thing wasn't being pushed and allowed by a lot of important people and places already then it obviously would never have even happened or could happen.

That's where the conspiracy is at. Because this isn't isolated at all. Things like this are happening all over to various degrees also. With various level of success. Which means it's something bigger in place here that is of significance if allowed to continue unchecked.

This one thing on it's own could be just a fluke. But already too many things point to something much bigger than that. I'm looking at it from the bigger picture of which this is just a single photo within the entire album which is as of yet not even completed.

I'm sure there is different ways to look at progressive, but I would say our education system is very politically slanted...

Fair enough. The slow kill applies to thought as well. "Fake it till you make it": a motto for the future souless drone to fulfill society's needs. No need to be genuine.
