Have you taken in any of Jordan Petersons lectures on Religious beliefs ? I find them pretty good . He looks at it from a evolutionary perspective .

WTF are you all arguing sperm and women's brains? What has that to do with the original topic and OP?
Serious question.
LOL.
It branched off the main topic and has just been a sort of amusing side topic.
But it makes for a good example of what this OP is about though. It's the kind of bad idea which takes hold when we allow Beliefs to mix with Facts. You end up having people walking around with a tainted body of knowledge which they live by and make decisions by that can lead us in the wrong direction overall.
For now it's just kinda keeping us amused to some degree. But it's still applies here if you see how it first came up and why. Otherwise, ya, it probably seems like we're way off topic with it.

Aren't schools and teachers supposed to be progressive? They go with the times, not against. Especially science.

You might be thinking of "regressives" which applies to both sides.

The word "progressive" is a pejorative term for them.

You do realize that Pence believes the opposite? Don't get me started with Ted Cruz and others.

I think Progressive was meant in a more general sense as in simply expanding or changing over time. So being that over time our knowledge of things "Progresses" so should our Teachers in order to keep up with what new information we've gained.
That would be my guess anyway. Since any kind of implied political slant or ideology being included would be a limiting factor which would be the opposite of what you'd want when it comes to the general idea of Education.
