I know there's a lot of confusion over what weapon was used, rate of fire, etc etc so I got the audio from a video here.

twitter.com...

Here's the audio profile. Might have missed the first couple hundred milliseconds of the video but you can get the idea
oi64.tinypic.com...

As you can see the rate of fire is very inconsistent, although firing up to 12 rounds per second!

They said he had multiple firearms in the room, maybe this guy was balancing 2 automatic weapons somehow at the same time? Just blasting away.
I don't know what else to think.

It sounds like a goddamn Gatling gun. So scary.

Iirc, an M16A4 CAN fire up to 900 rounds per min. So those numbers add up. 12rds a sec=720 over a minute

I say CAN because it really makes no sense to fire that quickly. Accuracy and all that.

My guess is he got his hands on a stolen military firearm. If you got the money and know where to look, anything is for sale.

Does anyone know what type for weapons were used? It sound to slow for a M-4. Could be a AR variant with a 100 round drum mag, but it sound to slow. I would bet on a drum feed AK.

All speculation at this point. Last i heard was "19 rifles" ( i think)

So, anything from a .22 squirrel gun to an m249 LMG.

The ambiguity is annoying.

It could be the echo off of buildings, but I swear they sound like an M16 and an M60 in other videos I've seen. Not at all saying those were the weapons used, just sounds like them. Still not convinced this was a lone shooter.

It sounds like a Gatling Gun from an old western movie.

Here's an interesting video that shows a hand crank gizmo that can be attached to an AR-15 to make it into a Gatling GUN.

I also count 82 shots based on the sound analysis. The sequence sounds to me to be relatively continuous. So I assume that he used a drum magazine. Here's an example: AR-15 / M16 100 Round Dual Drum Magazine .223/5.56 That's a pretty good size piece of hardware.

One interesting thing in the video is that the gentleman uses an office chair like a turret. That would allow the shooter to use the chair to hold the weapon and the magazine. And mostly all he needs to do is turn the crank.

That’s so not true... military weapons are not just available to anyone Willy nilly.... stop that nonsense!

This is going to be a custom job. He modded the guns. That’s why it sounds like an old school Gatling gun. Modded guns don’t fire with consistent round per minute like a real machine gun.

Well hell you could hook an electric motor to it and have a proper gatling gun!

From what I counted roughly 72 shoots plus a few maybe missed at the beginning. The drum mag for that AR-15 only holds 60 so it's possible it could be 2 weapons, one in each hand but one would have to have more than a 30 round magazine. Since there was multiple weapons I think it is probably safe to say it wasn't belt fed.

Because of the large area it took place in and the close proximity to the shooter, I think it is safe to say those large spikes in the audio are the actual shots. You can see the smaller spikes between which are probably the echo's.

Quick google search tells me the AR-15 can use 100 round magazine. Question is how hard is it to obtain one of those? If true he could have been using that gatling mod.

Did you even watch the clip I got the audio from? The person filming is no where near where the shots are impacting, unless what you are trying to say is the small echo's are actually the impact hits. The impact zone is over 400 meters away and the shooter is around 100 meters from the person filming. The gun fire is obviously over powering the impacts. Youre not going to hear the impacts overtop of the gunfire at that position...... just watch the video, I know what impacts sound like.

Being an old gun enthusiast I would hazard a guess it's either a trigger modified AK, could be a crank type or
it's a stock bump.

Hard one to say for sure.Almost sounds like an old hand crank machine gun!

No doubt the MSM will spout the words "fully automatic Rifle" just to instil fear!
Like the old saying goes......Guns don't kill people, people do.

What a tragic event, my heart goes out to all involved who are suffering from this evil act.

The high pitched sound that's being heard is probably the snapping sound not impacts because the bullets are going faster than the speed of sound. To hear the impacts the sound has to travel 400 meters back to the person filming at that spot. Not going be to be loud

Lol the mainstream media is already saying it was automatic fire. I doubt that too.

I've watched quite a few videos and in most of them you can hear the snap, that snap is the impact

I thought that it was either a trigger cam or a bump fire device because of varying rates of fire. The range was 300-400 yards according to some reports, so this was more like suppression fire without specific targets. With 22,000 people in a small area, all he had to do was sweep the venue to ensure casualties. If the range was correct, the impact angle would be 15-20 degrees which would reduce velocity through impact with the ground but still have enough energy on ricochet to cause damage. Fortunately, the angle was not shallower; catching the crowd in enfilade would have caused even more casualties.
Purportedly, cases from .30 caliber rounds were discovered but no mention was made of whether they were US or Russian cartridge cases. It was also stated that several tripods were in his hotel room.
