Ugh. Tom Petty was only 66. So many great songs and he also struck me as a genuinely good dude.

I just wanted to say - the last few weeks I've had some old fashioned nostalgia and had been listening to old Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and then Traveling Wilburies (Best supergroup ever!) and I do remember thinking how great it was he's still rocking out with us and even working with the younger generations and by gosh how well he looks still. Sadly, looks are deceiving and I should have known better.

I hope he makes a remarkable recovery - there's always hope. I won't count him out yet.

Be where you gotta go Mr Petty.

And if he goes, at least they'll be getting the band together again on the other side.

Well, I saw he was in the hospital and on life support yet other sources said he was dead. I thought he must have died, I should know better than to believe most news sources.

believe me me when I say, I heard and actually felt you saying that.
So I waited after what I consider a sh!tty monday....
I wouldn't respond to this thread till I was either turning in for bed, or it was really official. Luck would have it I got both.😑

I am truly gutted.
I can't put a cigarette paper between Tom Petty & The Stranglers as my all time favourites of all time.
I reckon we were due for a new album next year too.
I had hoped to see Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers live before my time ran out.
