Sad news...

Tom Petty was one of the best songwriters, and an incredible talent in the music industry. He also seemed like a guy that you'd want to have a beer or two with.

Rocker Tom Petty remains hospitalized in Los Angeles after being found unconscious and in cardiac arrest at his Malibu home Sunday, the Los Angeles County Fire Department told USA TODAY.

Initial reports Monday from TMZ and CBS said Petty, 66, had died. CBS cited the Los Angeles Police Department as its source. LAPD later tweeted that this was an inadvertent mistake and that they had no investigative role in the case.

His current condition is unclear, and the hospital cited federal law on patient confidentiality for declining to either confirm or deny reports about any "potential patient."

We're told the family has a "do not resuscitate" order on Tom. The singer is not expected to live through the day, but he's still clinging to life. A report that the LAPD confirmed the singer's death is inaccurate

Well, my local news is reporting that he passed away. Very sad. I like his music very much, and I liked the way he even made fun of himself, in his acting.
I read that he was wanting to slow down, to spend more time with his granddaughter. My heart goes out to his family.

I agree with another poster, seemed like a genuine guy, that you would enjoy sitting and talking to.
