Ok, this is not a "gun debate" thread but a gun sound debate topic.
Waking up and seeing the videos and hearing the gunfire was unsettling. But instantly I was drawn to the sound of the gunfire.
That does not sound like a typical full auto to me. It sounds more like a bump stock and suppressor which are both legal.
It's one of those things your typical anti gun people have no clue about. The bump stock has a stock that is spring loaded and makes the gun bounce from the recoil. You hold your finger in the trigger guard and bam! Every shot recoils and fires it again.
I will have to look it up, but their is new legislation on suppressors right now in congress. The claim of nobody being shot by a gun with a suppressor will have dramatically just gone out the window while bringing attention to bump stocks if I am correct.
Let's hear it! What do the gun people say? Maybe someone more tech savvy and not on a phone can put some sound bites together.

Not a suppressor.
Just nearly a quarter of a mile away recorded with a cheap cell phone microphone.

It was an AK. Distinctive on any mic. Easily made automatic.

By the high number of deaths, probably an AK, and not the smaller .222 or 9mm "carbine" type of gun.

ETA: Fox computer news says:

"Police found that Paddock was in possession of more than 10 rifles."

I'm gonna say it was TWO different types of firearms. 1stvolley sounds like AK, second volley not as much, sounds unlike an AR......maybe a older model that shoots the 7.62 round. Whether or not it was fully automatic ......we will be told it was fully automatic.

that would be .223 round not 222.

This is a close recording of the sound that I have seen thus far. It certainly sounds like a rifle to me. I don't know about being a .30 + round though. It could be a standard .223.

I think we can hear some of the rounds making impact??

Don't tell me this was a 'false flag'.

This weapon was no AR 15 . This was a heavy caliber , fully automatic weapon.Notice the thump , thump , thump sound ? That is not impact . An AK or an AR has more of a tap, tap to it.
Just my opinion

the sound seems correct but why in all the footage of the hotel are there none showing muzzle flash? or any kind of flash for that matter

From the video that worldstarcountry posted i too would assume you'd see some sort of muzzle flash coming from the hotel. Then again I'm no expert just merely sharing my view. The only thing I can think of is that there was muzzle flash from from that distance and only being a camera phone it may not have picked up the muzzle flash maybe the bright lights from the stage is effecting the camera

Maybe the type of weapon used doesn't give off much of a muzzle flash .. who knows

A) we don't know how good the mic in the cell phone camera was, so no telling if the sounds are super accurate.

B) with that kind of shooting I don't think being quiet was an objective.

Could be a M-1A (or M-14 if you will). As for the lack of a muzzle flash, well anyone whos had/researched/seen news footage of Sarajevo street fighting knows the answer to this (and no I will NOT divulge what I'm saying here, nor do I think that anyone who's had training in MOUT should discuss this)

I agree with the possibility of a bump. Not so much with the suppressor. The sound could be off due to it being an urban environment. Having the sound echoing off the buildings before hitting the mic on the camera could explain the different sound.

++ here's some reports from early, Un-verified sources (people)

According to an unofficial report from Reshet Bet, the Las Vegas shooter's "Muslim name" is Samir al-Hajib.
He is an American who converted to Islam at the age of 30 and lived in Mesquite, NV near Las Vegas.

RE; various sources

According to Israel National News, the shooter converted to ISLAM when he was about 30 years old; another Radical Islamic TERRORIST

While initial reports claimed (steven) Paddock was a recent convert to Islam, Clark County Sherrif Joseph Lombardo said he had no knowledge of Paddock's religious beliefs.

"As far as his history and his background, we haven't completed that part of the investigation yet."
"We have no idea what his belief system was."..

(from hotel neighbor)

'I was in room 135 and I heard over the police scanner that the shooting came from room 137,' said the man, who asked not to be named.

so the police scanner reported that info obtained had pinpointed the shots were coming from the 32nd floor hotel sub-lease room 137

the early reports seem to being 'sanitized' or else my reports are dicey & biased.... like Trump says: We Will See...

I'm just hearing about this.

Condolences to the victims and their families.

Just curious, have they placed the blame on guns and the 2A yet?

No, this is not a false flag. It is a question of what the antigunners are going to blame. Full auto, bump stocks, suppressors, AR based platforms.
It was a dick on a murder mission. a reply to: UnBreakable
