Sorry you are feeling down. But you brightened my day with that video! His voice takes me back to System of a Down.... and a walk down memory lane.

Great!
Feels good to brighten someone's day. And yes, System of a Down is unique. Well, i guess all bands and artists are unique in their own sense but SOAD in a special way unique, like a snowflake! (those that fall from the sky at winter, not the ones that are used in a negative sense about some people here on ATS)

Ok this needs to be shared now... The closest friend of mine knows a whole lot about me and i know a whole lot about him. A few mornings ago, i woke up and saw this link that he had sent me! Makes my heart absolutely melt. Somewhere behind this beard and grin here, nevertheless, still is a knowing, feeling human being.

You all, shed people, need to remember this too!

Truly awesome. I have, and i have had so much. Makes one wonder... all these things that surround me, apartment that is warm. Laptop and fast internet to browse the net. Good TV (which i don't watch, but that will temporarily change in february when the winter olympics in south Korea start, plenty of ice hockey and a little bit of snowboarding)... Ok i got carried away there... What i wanted to say is that i have food and even tobacco, coffee and wine, i have a very close relationship with my mom who is coming to visit me thursday. I have one super friend and a few great friends!

So, how come an individual in that position feel depression and anxiety? Sometimes (often) i feel that i don't have the right to do it. But it gets a hold of me sometimes.

But all is good now... As i wrote earlier, felt depressed but not major. Now it is gone. I have my ups and downs, i guess everyone does. And sometimes my up-down-up-down-up takes fifteen minutes to happen. Dunno... i guess i am just strange. But glad to feel that i am part of the shed, because shed is a wonderful thing!

Thank you Timely. I don't see my medical issues improving however. Since dad complains about spending money on me for medicine, I've decided to stop all my medicine. He also wants me out of the house.

That is not acceptable. Not for me and as far as i know other shed people, not for them too. Night Star already responded. I am not in a position to command but i will give it a shot anyway: Take your medicine!

At loss of words... Your dad seems so stubborn and out-of-everything. My 2 cents would have been to have a man to man chat, sitting down and talk things out. But i feel that you are the only one of you two who is capable of doing that.

Sending a prayer for you right after i click "reply"

Thanks you for your thoughts and prayers. I've taken my meds later on yesterday so Im somewhat back to normal. Correct, all conversations with him are one sided as he thinks he is an all knowing god.

What, in your opinion, are the alternatives to make your situation better? I am not talking about like... your heart suddenly repairs itself by magic... But viable options here?

Our spare TV (which I use as a computer monitor in our conservatory) is the same brand as our main TV in the living room, so the remote control from either TV can work BOTH!

I have on occasion "borrowed" the batteries from the main TV remote (to disable it).... and then... when my wife or sons try and change channel using the (now battery-less) remote... I'll surreptitiously use my hidden spare remote to change the TV to one of "my" channels. Bad - I know.... but it is VERY FUNNY watching them trying to figure it out!
I may actually tell them how I do it one day.....

Re: Depression...
The vast majority of people who suffer with depression and related conditions are VERY INTELLIGENT & CAPABLE people. (Often from reasonably happy & stable backgrounds.)
The depression itself often stems from a lack of personal challenge or stimulation, and sometimes from a sense of not achieving everything that could have been achieved.
Having a nice life, nice house, nice job, nice car, nice family etc has no direct bearing on our state of depression.
It's more tied in with how satisfied we are with what we've done with our life.
How fulfilled we feel, and how challenged/stimulated we are.
IMHO!

People affected by depression are also affected from outside influences that affect their lives deeply or a chemical imbalance in the brain. There are many reasons why one would suffer from depression, but there is always hope and help.

Yes, our Chels is quite beautiful!

How is the van coming along Sir Gordi?

It doesn't matter what he thinks aside from the fact he's driving you and your Mother crazy and wreaking emotional havoc. He has an illness and if he isn't at least taking his meds to help in any way, someone has to tell his Doctor or tell his Doctor what is going on at home and continues to go on. There has to be some kind of resources they can give you to help out in some way.

You need to get a power of attorney to be in control of the finances and for the rest like using the car, get the key, make a copy of the key and hide it. Let your Doctor know exactly how much stress you are under having to deal with Dad. I don't know what else to advise accept to be the Sheddite warrior that you are and don't surrender!

From Fin

What, in your opinion, are the alternatives to make your situation better? I am not talking about like... your heart suddenly repairs itself by magic... But viable options here?

An option that would make things happier for me would be the ability to get out of this house to go places and do things that I wish I could do. As my only real-world friend lives about 50 miles away and works two jobs that makes this more difficult for me. As I spend my life on the internet I have found a volunteer service called Best Buddies.

We are the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Basically the offer volunteer friends.
www.bestbuddies.org...

I signed up for this a month or two ago. Recently I have been given the first name of my new friend. I have no idea how long it will be before I am contacted by him.

Night Star

My sister did go to my dad's doctor appointments to let the doctors know that he has been lying about exercise and not taking his medication. He is supposed to be taking all his meds now but who knows.

I reported him to the Texas Adult Protective Service and told them all that he has done. They investigated this which ticked of family members and came away with nothing I could do.

About using a vehicle, all I can do is steel one of two cars of my dad's. As he is an ass he doesn't want me to drive. As I could die any day from heart failure my doctor doesn't want me to drive either. Not to mention my vision keeps getting worse by wearing glasses two years old. Taking the car is one stick of dynamite that I'd rather not light. My sister is the one with control over what gets done in the family so everything is one big mess.

I can't wait for you to get in touch with your new best buddy friend. That should be a tremendous help and take some of the stress away from you. I don't mean to get on your case my friend, I just get so frustrated when I don't see a solution when someone is hurting. You know I mean well. Hugs!

Hope you are having a good day!

I will be off in my antique clawed tub with scented oils and soap. Ah, I can feel any stress just melt away.

This is all the lovely ladies of the shed...

And for everyone

And now I must leave you all for a while to the enchanting Shed and Shedlands to hang out, explore and to find your peace, love and joy.

You are not getting on my case as you are the most Night Starly person I know. You were just exploring what options the may be available to assist me.

To everyone,
As you may already know my short-term plan is to deal with dad and things the best way I can think of. The long-term plan is to get out of Dodge once I start receiving Social Security again. I'm saying this with my fingers crossed of course.
