Singing the national anthem before every game in a national league in which every team and player is american is pathetic.

Amazing...

Trump thinks the neo nazi's and KKK are good people but feels the need to attack black athletes exercising their constitutional right to free speech.

I commend and respect the players, coaches, owners and managers of the NFL for standing together and resisting Trumps bullying tactics.

This is the response to the NFL controversy from underwear bomber whistle blower and retired lawyer Kurt Richard Haskell on Facebook. He's quite the political analyst.

Burning the bread and circuses.

A few months ago, I read an article concerning the large drop in NFL ratings last season. The survey indicated the number one reason NFL ratings were down so much was due to the anthem protests of Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick was pretty much on his own protesting the national anthem last season. Kaepernick said his reasoning for protesting the anthem was due to the unwarranted killing of black people by cops. The NFL knew it lost a huge amount of viewers over this issue last season. Yet, it took no action over this issue before the new season started recently. This season, the amount of anthem protestors has slowly been increasing even though Kaepernick is not currently on any team. Yesterday, Trump made a statement about this and said all anthem protestors should be fired and the NFL should be boycotted. Today, the amount of anthem protestors at the games was unprecedented. Some entire teams refused to enter the stadium for the anthem. This statement by Trump, as well as the lack of action by the NFL to a known problem, is going to have a tremendously negative affect on the NFL. The NFL is going to lose many viewers and advertisers over this issue and gain zero new ones. I fully expect large scale protests outside of stadiums with jerseys being burnt.

The below article on zero hedge about the subject has the most comments of any article this entire year! Anyway, the NFL owners are not stupid. They have previously taken many millions of dollars in payments to promote the military. This anthem protest becoming a huge issue appears to also be planned. It has been obvious that the elites have been pushing the divide and conquer narrative for quite some time. It appears to me that this anthem issue is just another example pushing racial division. It would not surprise me in the slightest if the NFL owners were paid a huge amount of money to push this anthem protest issue. This is the only logical conclusion I can draw from the actions of wealthy business men knowingly not taking any action to stop an activity that will devastate their businesses. I have to say I am quite surprised that the elites are now actively destroying the "bread and circuses" that keep people distracted over what is really going on. Time must really be running short.

I said this all last season when Colin decided to be an ass hat and make Sunday all about politics. He has every right to his opinion as well as to protest but do it in a manner that doesn't interfere with my enjoyment of a sport. He is paid to throw a ball. That's it. Nothing more. I could care less about his political views along with any other athlete or celebrity.

Right!

Politics do not belong on the job....and players jobs are to play.
First amendment rights don't even belong here....I know when I worked, we could not even wear political buttons to work.

Thats Old School then. I work for a fortune 100 company with 40k + employees and in the office we can bedazzle our cubes with political everything if we want. Freedom of speech. At my workplace we also have employee organizations, we have ones for future women leaders, minorities, LGBT's, Millennials, etc. We also get corporate emails about legislation that can effect our work that encourages us to speak to our politicians.

So, if someone in your company wore a MAGA hat to work, he wouldn't cop any flak at all?

Well first off, you cant wear hats, its against the dress code. I work in a giant office with strict dress code rules.

Secondly, I have seen one or 2 MAGA hats on peoples cubes... granted my office has 2,500 people in it and I only saw one or two. That person may get some looks, and maybe people will refrain from talking politics around that person... but no... no flak

one of my closest 2 coworkers voted for Trump, we razz each-other all the time about the others politics, but never on a malicious level. We debate sometimes, but it stays there at a "agree to disagree" stage

I live in Patriot country, and just about cried when they lost Randy Moss. I lost some interest after that. I do have friends that are season ticket holders who are furious over this.

I literally got 5 phone calls from friends who are refusing to watch not only yesterday's game but the rest of the season.

Unless you have a disability - you stand for the National Anthem!

faux outrage,

1. to compare kneeling to 'acting like 10 year old'
2. can you source the legal agreement mentioning not 'acting like 10 year old'? nope.

Your argument doesn't even exist outside of hyperbole. You have to exaggerate this is super offensive to you to maintain your position what you propose is even remotely true.

But you're not alone, so who cares about you specifically. The point is without all the fake hype, this wouldn't even be a topic, so carry on bitchin'.

I am so sick of politics and if I want it then I can watch cable news.

What you fail to realize is that sports, weather, game shows, variety, talk show programming, are all designed to pull you to the TV so that you will get to hear the political propaganda.

TV programming is programmed to program you.

It was invented by the master of political propaganda in Nazi Germany, Joesph Goebbels. It is been developed and refined to a high degree since then.

After all you love your sports don't you?

Now stay tuned for a message form our sponsors. And in other news, terror, terror, patriotism, flags, terror and Nationalism.

So totally true. Your post is what a Liberal professor of Mass Communications 101 in college had told us about and put questions about it on the exam. Eye opening and forebode I would read posts on ATS.

You might enjoy reading this about dissemination of propaganda in Germany prior to WWII.

Goebbels gives a speech at the 1933 Radio Convention on the power of the press and developing mass communication thru the use of' 'programming', by radio.

Tim Tebow is the double standard here. I've never been much of a football fan, but since his controversy, I gave up on it. So what would happen if literally only a couple hundred fans started showing up to games? What steps would the NFL take?

Can I ask why people feel that this is disrespecting your flag and your nation?

I'm trying to get my head around why some people on here are so angry about it because as far as I can see, people are trying to show that racism and violence is still affecting a huge demographic and they are doing it in a non violent way with as much resonance as possible.

So, are you saying that:

(1) People who are scared about where the US is going in relation to racism and violence, shouldn't bring it up during your recreational time when you want to watch tv and relax? Even if it is bringing the matter to prominence and hopefully starts a dialogue, in a non violent way?

(2) Or that you should you sing the national anthem no-matter how you are treated/abused by some of those in power?

(3) Isn't the national anthem about the free and the brave? Standing up for what is right and just? If it is, isn't it ironic that you want them to NOT do that in front of you?

(4) Why does it matter how much they make??? If you're rich why can't you still support your fellow man? How much money are you allowed to earn and still be allowed to have a voice? Why does money have any basis for excluding someone from saying that something is not right?

(5) Isn't the most important aspect of this, that you have a large amount of people who feel abused and disenfranchised from the country they live in, through no fault of their own. Isn't THIS what you should be trying to resolve? It seems like you are angry that people are voicing their opinions during your relaxing time, even though it is doing what it was designed to do, which is bringing the debate into the open in a non violet way.

I would genuinely be very interested to hear answers to these questions.

This use to happen only during election cycles and then things went back to normal, now it is engraved in perpetuity.

I think it's to be expected when the Leader of the free world is more concerned with pandering to his base of supporters with silly macho tweets, racism and ego photo ops, than taking care of the nations more pressing problems.

Actually if Hillary would have won, the other 35% would be freaking out as gun control got rolled out and a liberal lefty judge was appointed to the supreme court, it would have happened either way, the country is very divided straight down ideological lines, and when one side makes a compromise the base freaks out. It's a mess, America is divided like never before.

If hillary had won america would be no more 40 year old dreamers with no education and a criminal record would get a free pass.

Probably over half a million immigrants and acting as if we had open borders. People forced to house economic migrants attempts to remove the right to bear arms. Terrorist attacks every other week.

Amazing - I dare you to find anywhere Trump was shown to have said the KKK are good people when there are several clips of him denouncing KKK and David Duke through the decade, not just in politics? I wish people would actually RESEARCH what is being thrown around instead of just adding to the massive propaganda meme propagated and supported by MSM, Hollywood and now National Sports. They are all supporting this anti-Americanism because they're pissed Killary didn't get in despite the rigged primaries and election to sail the USA down the globalists tubes forever losing everything. There is a much bigger picture here and when you step back it all becomes crystal clear. Wake up and stop buying into the propaganda - Obama, Bill, Killary are all globalists, Trump is a patriot - easy choice for me, boggles my mind how much people are so brainwashed to see the complete opposite thanks to.... MSM, Hollywood, National sports.... so very, very sad :-(

It is disrespectful to not stand for the national anthem/flag for the country you are a citizen in and the only reason they can get away with it is because there "is" freedom of speech in America - try doing that in China or North Korea or any Muslim country or another hundred places and see how much freedom you have - it is disrespectful to ALL those men and women who fought and died to GET that freedom - that's the problem. Is not about free speech, its about disrespecting ALL that America and Americans have done to have freedoms and is not about who is President or BLM or anything else. Its a "sports" game, not a political arena and by coercing entire teams to do this is pure peer pressure, just like banning free speech at Berkeley - haven't you noticed how "selective" this all is? How coincidentally they are shutting down ANY arena for people to discuss conservative views? It's a psy-ops, people - wakeup!

There are a SMALL amount of people feeling disenfranchised and abused, not a "great" amount - and they are given platforms to make it "look" like there's more. It has been proven BLM and the anti-fa thugs are funded by Soros and even Hillary Clinton - Gee, wonder why that would be? Could it be they don't want patriotism? Don't want Americans to do well? Those that aren't happy can do something about it - run for an office, start a productive collective of people and become proactive - all this protesting is ridiculous and unfounded.

I guess it doesn't count that in between tweets the US economy was infused with trillions of dollars, over a million jobs have been created, food stamps are at their lowest in decades, the "secret" TPP was scrapped, small businesses are able to get going because he removed all the red tape and restrictions, illegal immigration is down upwards of 80+%, the Paris Climate Accord (If you actually know what was in it) was an abomination for the USA, and Trump has been blocked at every turn to get the wall built and get the Obamacare-bankrupt-the-American-people-made-by-big-insurance-companies plan scrapped. Amazing how people will just whine that he "tweets", lol - which take what, 15 seconds? The rest of the 18 hours a day he works tireless to stop the takeover of the country. You sound like a robot parroting the narrative created to divide the country by the globalists through their "controlled" media, Hollywood and national sports. Trump has done more good in the first months than Obama or Bill did in their entire terms. Why? Because Trump is NOT a globalist selling out the US like they did, he's trying to turn it around. Yeah, such a bad man for putting America first and protecting its borders and getting its own people to work and its own vets taken care of.
