There are anywhere from 6 to 10 trillion dollars worth of minerals and rare earths under those mountains.

Which is why I've never understood why South Korea, and the North for that matter, haven't pushed for reunification harder.

Those resources, along with the South's tech, turns Korea into a powerhouse in Asia.

They both have always wanted reunification. The South want a unified, democratic Korea, the North want it unified, but under the Kim dynasty rule.

Do you really have to wonder much why it hasn't happened?

Nope, I'm under no delusions as to why they not done so. More fools they.

The south will not consider, at least seriously, any reunification with the north that leaves the Kims in control even slightly. Too much blood.

The north, or rather the Kims will not, because they know they will not retain anything like control of a village, much less the country.

Since then of course we have JUST learned to GET surrounded as a tactic,then kill them.

Nobody wants radioactive materials. NK is a lose-lose situation now if any nukes go off.

I served my time in war zones.....arrogance and underestimating your enemy will get you and your men killed.....

I am NOT claiming folly I am SHOWING how it is.
This won't be an INFANTRY fight DOOR to door like the recent wars at all.

War with fat boy kim and NK. Nuclear would all be over quick and NK a radioactive wasteland, South Korea gets some radiation, very bad, highly unlikely.

Conventional war NK vs South Korea, US possibly Japan and some other allies. NK airforce, navy destroyed easily in a few days. Most army armour and artillery destroyed in a bit longer a week or 2, depending on the amount of airpower assets in theater.

The non easy part is the 1 million plus man infantry plus another 600,000 or so infantry reserve. The terrain of North Korea has a lot of forest, mountain, urban, city areas for good cover and concealment of infantry forces. Not like open desert.

Could be worse than nam... There is no easy way to defeat a 1 million man army who are probably fanatical to a degree and fairly well trained and in their own territory. If you could take out Kim and the leadership they might stop but who knows. Korean war 1 was not a win.

South Korea has plans in place to annex North Korea if it was ever needed so US may not have to occupy.
However I think war is unlikely despite the big talking. North Korea would have to attack first I doubt they will do that as it would be bad for them, Trump could attack first possibly if he is nuts. My 2c.

That is just like asking to throw nukes at NK. When something is used. Everyone else will have an excuse to use it back at US military.
