There are anywhere from 6 to 10 trillion dollars worth of minerals and rare earths under those mountains.
Which is why I've never understood why South Korea, and the North for that matter, haven't pushed for reunification harder.
Those resources, along with the South's tech, turns Korea into a powerhouse in Asia.

Guess you forgot what 1ST Cav Div did in Desert Storm by itself , huh?
CAUSE that's the TRIPWIRE force before hell shows up.
AN ARMORRED recon DIVISION is already there...so WHAT the hell is this STALINGRAD fantasy at all?
NOT intelligent or capable ...like the Russians are and have been AT ALL .
Programmed hostages are EASY pickings to US forces TIME and time again ,Commies never win.limited caste-controlled extrapolative abilities hamstring such laborious beasts WAY WORSE than Europeans WAFFLING in place.THEY have to wait for MORE authority, which is WHY the officers go first.
So as a FORMER LURSD, FROM Korea 1986 (C 4/7 Recon platoon)I say that.
