Sounds like Mr. Casey is being politically correct.

It's up to the people of the town .. and their elected representatives.

just a rhetorical question :

what effect do ATS members think that the removal of such monuments will have on the type of people [ i use the word loosely ] who enacted the charlotteville violence ?`

That's an amazingly broad question.

In my opinion, as long as there are no Constitutional rights being thwarted, State and local governments have to do what they think is best for the people in their communities. I'm not a big fan of taking down statues and memorials, but that's only my personal opinion.

I think if we just quoted relevant portions of Vice President Stevens' "Cornerstone Speech" on a plaque nearby, that would be far more informative about what the Confederacy stood for.

Remember when it was, "Just one flag" and people were getting upset over nothing and nothing would ever come of it and it wouldn't go any further than that.

Someone rightly posted earlier that the graves of Confederate soldiers are protected by Federal statute.

By allowing possible racist a burial plot then protecting them from emotionally charged vigilantes.

Rights sould be dictated by feelings.

It's Federal law. The people buried in such graves are American soldiers.

The ideals of the Confederacy were the protection of slavery and the establishment of White Supremacy as a governing principle.

Perhaps you're confused between the two?

Indeed. When someone doesn't play silly games with pallid attempts at sarcasm, it often gets lost in the breeze.

We've had this problem with the UK education system for decades (at least since the 1980's). Every year, someone would decide that something was offensive. They started with children's nursery rhymes; "Baa, Baa Black Sheep" nursery rhyme, "Puff the magic dragon". Then they moved onto playground games for being too dangerous. Then it was the
British union flag and St. George cross as being offensive to those in Commonwealth countries. Then it moves onto
statues of people, street and building names for those individuals being racist.

It'll never end. They will always redefine some historical figure as racist. It will start with one history student who decides to write an "alternative" research thesis about a particular individual. That long gone person will then be deemed to be "racist" by groupthink and therefore must be airbrushed out of history. All statues, plaques and must be taken down, buildings and streets must be renamed. They tried this with Admiral Nelson. The march of the morons continues.

Yes, it's called 'death, by a thousand cuts'. You see, it's the convenient go-to excuse for morons to hold dear to so that they can disassociate themselves from that which they are obsessed about bringing about.

Like in the ATS mudpit, we see tards daily say "so what, this one person does not represent everyone', whilst they secretly smirk that this is EXACTLY what they are obsessed about ensuring happens - one person at a time, one monument at a time, one cultural axiom at a time.

Pathetic pieces of sh!t think they are actually convincing others of their deluded logic.

Fight them where ever you see them, bring them down low, shine a light on their retardedness, they are oxygen thieves, always are, always will be.

and they are easily triggered by words, mainly because they associate themselves with what I'm saying, and it pisses them off when they are called out.

I find it odd that those calling themselves the Resistance are so quick to tear down symbols of resistance in the past.
This shows me they aren't what they claim, they represent the NWO and blindly do their bidding for them.
