What's with the obsession about "socialism" in conspiracy-circles lately?

Most of the "socialism is coming!"-wackos seem to be Americans - as a non-American I find that highly bizarre. Of all western countries, the US is probably the least socialist in terms of economics (compared to Germany, France, Britain, Sweden, Canada etc.) and yet it's the most important thing suddenly in the scene.

Some of us "wackos" want to keep it that way.

Truer words have never been spoken.

I dont know. Whats the obsession with people pushing socialism and neo-communism on us as a form of political system?

To clarify my own post -- im not against all social programs, but ours seem to be too many, poorly applied, lacking thought in their design and often bloated. My political opinions are generally minimalist. Thats the best way to describe them. Not left or right.

FYI people have been having the socialism debate for near a century. It is not something new that is a boogeyman. Socialism run rampant ends up like Venezuela or the Soviet Union. Its not awesome. That doesnt mean 100% of socialist programs are bad. Some are very helpful when well managed. It does however mean socialism unchecked is rather dangerous. Socialism as a complete political system is not based in reality, but more of a state quasi-religion.

I have noticed that frequently, the media rails on about something being bad when it would be good for the people and bad for the government.

True socialism would render most of government irrelevant wouldn't it?.

I think it's because the most common bogeymen won't work when the right wing's in power. It's not believable to say "the President's going to take away your guns!", "Hillary/Obama is going to start WW3!", "the big bad govt's leader is actually the Antichrist!", "the President's a secret Muslim agent!", or any of that crap right now. So they have to go with something that can keep their base amped up & scared.

I actually lived trough the Bush years and there was no shortage of paranoia at that time. Alex Jones' best work comes from that era - Rise of the Police State anyone? (which makes current infowar's current stance on Venezuela etc. all the more standout) Or the Bush anti-Christ book: www.amazon.com...

As I said, I lived through the "scene's" obsessions of the past 17 years. "Socialism" was never on the agenda much - prominent conspies like AJ were obsessed with Bohemian Grove, Bilderberg and Skull & Bones most of the time. So the focus on socialism all of sudden and the very handy and convenient alt-right/antifa divide smells very fishy. It's almost like a complete 180° turn.

But don't worry, things will go back to normal once the midterm elections come up.

In general, the mood of the internet as a whole is contrary to the supposed image of the US-president of that time. When Bush was in power, the talking points on the net were more leftist (remember open source software fanatics or the RIAA/MPAA outrages?), under Obama it turned more to the right (alt-right), it will probably shift again with Trump.

The reason its come along is because its part of someones agenda what ever that may be. Nothing springs up out of nowhere.

I for one suspect what they are not talking about is how socialism is bad for the masses which means its good for the corporate sector.

For some years no I've been coming to the view that the reason for ever expanding forms of hidden form of taxation particularly in relation to infringements is that govt is desperate because corporates are paying less and less tax and someone has to make for they what corporations are not paying.

Weren't you asking why socialism's become the new obsession in conspiracy circles? There are a lot of left wing conspiracy theories against Trump right now, which usually revolve around his administration being overrun with Russian agents, him allying with white supremacists, his plans to purge minority voters from voter rolls, him trying to start WW3, his hypocrisy towards outsourcing jobs, etc. But none of those involve socialism.

It's the right wing/conservatives whose conspiracy circles are seemingly obsessed with socialism right now, hence my response. The right can't really push the conspiracies that they did against Obama right now, like the "secret Muslim/creeping Sharia" & "he's gonna take our guns", so they're sticking to the "big bad socialism" approach.

Why is THAT suddenly a top-priority on the conspiri-internets? I've followed the scene for quite a while (since 2001) and it never was a big topic, until now.

Put succinctly it is a method to avoid thinking and legitimate, fact based debate.

All Republicans are Nazi's.
All non-republicans are Socialists.

What's the current obsession with socialism?

Misdirection.

If you're looking for reds under the bed, you won't notice how Trump is making America great again for Wall Street.

The obsession with socialism is a ploy to bring back a far right presence around the world. The history of Hitler has even been blurred to further push people away from a perceived evil socialism toward a more historically evil right wing extremism.

People are stupid and easily swayed by bias. Hitler was long ago for the lesson to now be twisted as it is.

Even here on this site and many others you’ll find the disinformation... that Hitler was left wing or Nazi’s were left wing socialists. Lies spread because the truth of Right wing hate too terrible to be openly accepted... and yet the policies they push, the ethnicities they target and the extreme nationalism all there...

It’s coming back and people may be too stupid to stop it— which is what right wing extremism counts on.

Why don't you march to the White House, demanding to put an end to this Total War of yours? Worked like a charme with Vietnam, remember?

I don't applaud US failure, it would've been nice to see the US coming up with a decent plan for Iraq after Hussein. And we didn't create new markets for the mercenary army that's about to set foot in Afghanistan.

Wake the fck up? Marxists are not your enemy, they're your ally in this struggle for peace.

Because, for whatever reason, it is enjoying a comeback, even despite the evidence that socialism has failed monumentally, and ultimately led to the deaths of millions and millions of people.

In the UK, British people are more likely to view socialism favourably than capitalism.

In the US, Younger Americans have a much better view of socialism, and worse view of capitalism, than their elders

As a conspiracy theorist, maybe you can figure out why that is.

Most of it, accordingly, is the failure to understand socialism:

A new Reason-Rupe report on millennials finds that young people are more favorable to the word “socialism” than a government-managed economy, even though the latter is less interventionist. Millennials don’t like government intervention in the economy when you spell it out precisely, rather than use vague terms like “socialism.”

Millenials don't know what socialism means

With that in mind, it becomes very worrying that many of these people will vote in socialist governments without understanding either the meaning of socialism, or what a socialist society entails, thereby ruining the lives of the people living there.

Well. Space marines wont help much once China finds a sack of oranges messing with their backyard. Frankly? It's obviously a mission to save the Dollar and it's directed against China for working on a gold standart. Little Kim is just the kickstarter to get your ducks in a row.
That's the strategic necessity right there, mark my words. This isn't fear talking, it's common sense waving a fencepost. Stop crapping in your pants for a few pathetic nuke programs? The propaganda is strong with you but there is no way in hell they would actually launch them to get hammered down, it's plain suicidal. Nuclear deterrent works.

We should continue this elsewhere to keep the OT in check. Thanks for the reply and have a nice ride, CAV guy.
