And I see that some posters have the attitude that "what harm can it do?" to listen and read his books, despite the now obvious failings.
The harm is, put simply, that through the offer of free e-books and links to various bizarre photo montages that have an extremely suspect penchant
for certain members of the British monarchy and an unhealthy obsession with biblical stories and the pursuit of power (flames from the mouth etc), the
OP is clearly - despite what he states to the contrary - trying to gain followers, otherwise, why do it?
Out of altruism?
Since it was I who expressed a rather nonchalant attitude as this, I will answer-
Altruism? Where or how could you even find that as an explanation? I didn't. Not for a moment. What
good could actually be done for anyone,
even if his story is true??
Nah, that was not my suggestion at all. I think there can be many reasons for such behavior, ranging from money making schemes off book sales to basic
desire for attention or fame, to very simply becoming obsessed and lost in self delusion.
It could be a mix of reasons, it could be that he really believes every word- he's not "lying".
It could be that some very paranormal experiences DID happen to him... and he he did pick up some very interesting information... but some details
were misinterpretted (as he has said, the misinterpretation of one word can throw the whole thing sideways). Or from a few insights were formed some
rather fancy and elaborate nonsense.
My point is-
You don't NEED to determine he is a bad person with bad intent in order to keep yourself safe from being swept up in his world.
People make enough mistakes with totally good intents to make total trust impossible already. No judgement of evil is even needed!
But... if you feel there are vulnerable people out there ready to throw away their lives to follow a guy with such claims, then you should do what
feels right to protect them. I don't think I am in a good place for that because I have trouble relating to them and might just laugh instead.
My opinion is only mine, your mileage may vary.
(but truly, if anyone thinks there is some sort of altruistic benefit here, ask yourself, what exactly might be in this for you, besides just a moment
of fantastical escape from a boring life?)
