A lot of bitter sad people in this thread.

Gotta find something to complain about, in order to give meaning and relevance to their own sad, pathetic lives.

I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit that I don't know what the Emmys are all about. Are they soap opera Awards, or news Awards?

Wow. So no tv? No Netflix no YouTube?

Last time I checked, YouTube is free and yes, I have Netflix.
I said I have not spent a dime at the "movie theater"

There were even more at the Emmys.

I like to think of it as coming back to reality. I'm sure the players would love ever more obscene contracts but if there are no big TV deals......salaries plummet. Owners aren't stupid.

It's kind of difficult to put that salary/profit genie back in the bottle.

It will be real easy once TV revenue shares plummet

Maybe, there's also participation issues at all levels that baseball and football are experiencing.

Yep especially football.

I think the concussion evidence and coverup is frighteining a lot of parents (rightly so) out of wanting their kids to play football.

Couple that with technology meaning less kids want to participate, and it does have a bleak outlook.

But I have seen enough anime to know that Robot Football League is not far off into the future!

2015 was an all time low. Then 2016 was a new all time low. And now 2017 is another all time low.

The decline started before Trump.

I suggest the decline therefore has nothing to do with Trump.

They have became political in nature. Folks dont want to see that sh** . If they want to see that sh** they tune in to CNN or Fox.

I read an article a couple weeks ago that discussed how high school programs have fallen by 6% over the past few years due to both concussion concerns and immigrants not understanding the sport.

As long as they don't cancel the Lingerie Bowl.

Well I don't think head trauma is the number one concern there. My guess is that other body areas are far more likely to be heavily impacted.

Nope, they're definitely not there for their genius level intellect.

They're totally into baseball, basketball and hockey. There are channels that broadcast those in Hindi here. Football is quite complex though.

Nah, just far-left politics in general.

The same article explained why baseball is in trouble as well. Not enough minorities playing and an aging demographic coupled with expensive venues makes for a bad future prognosis.

They should be called the Enemas instead of the Emmy's because there's a lot of shat in the audience .

Basically, it rewards the (scripted) television shows that suck the least of all the sucky (scripted) television shows.

"Congratulations! Your show doesn't suck as bad as all the others!"

Of which minorities are you speaking? There are plenty of hispanic baseball players....And they tend to own it.

I went to the Emmys In 96 I think, it was the first year they upended up tickets sales. My family got for tickets for free. It was pretty cool. As we were walking out we ran into Jon Lovitz and my sister was acting like a fool and Jon asked her her name. She said Monica and he replied, oh that's a real popular name right about now in his signature voice. Pretty funny.

This was nothing more than the ruling class demonizing and belittling the lower classes. I'll never understand why people like to watch rich people congratulate and give themselves awards.
