As usual, common sense no longer applies in the Senate. I seriously can't stand establishment Democrats and Republicans who have no ethics or common sense.

thefreethoughtproject.com...

Paul proposed an amendment that would allocate $7.85 billion in aid for repairing the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey, with an additional $2.5 billion set aside to prepare for Hurricane Irma—all by simply making cuts to foreign aid.

“My amendment, the ‘America First’ amendment, would take the money from money that we were going to send to foreign countries,” Paul said. “We send billions and billions of dollars to countries who hate us. We send billions and billions of dollars to countries who burn our flag. I think it’s a very simple choice that when we’re looking at those in need in our country, we quit sending money to other countries.”

This is worth watching. Reason and Common sense and a lot of information you probably didn't know on how foreign aid is spent.

If it makes sense then it shall not pass.

Time to audit the entire government.

I agree but dick cheney and the rest of the lobbyists that actually receive our" foreign aid"..corporations get the money in most instances not starving 3rd world nations. Same as the Clintons with their so called Haiti relief...theyre all bilking the #$#% out of the tax payers while plucking our heart strings and of course keeping us busy with the great partisan divide.

That would be a very interesting experiment. Stop giving these countries bribe money and see how their reactions change to our role as world police. Hmmm, maybe we would be back to just defending our boarders within a month.

Win-Win. Yep, the flow of spice will never be allowed to stop.

Its way too logical and doesnt line the pockets of the corrupt officials that line the halls of washington.

Our government sucks a big one. Its only amazing that there are a couple people left that actually want to represent us. Rand Paul is a stand up guy.

I understand why at one time money was shipped overseas to other countries. There was a reason for each. Those reasons have long ago passed...
Why continue ?
Time to end it.

I hope by some miracle 310+ million people hear about this and see it. May not reach everyone but if this doesn't expose our corrupt politician class as the selfish unrepresentative asses they are I'm afraid nothing ever really will.

The way it work's is the same for all the old powers and the US, foreign aid is essentially stealing tax payer money to BRIBE foreign country's and in those deal's a percentage of that BRIBE money is then laundered and end's up back in the hand's of the private company's that are then given lucrative contract's in those country's, private company's that one way or another have link's to the very politician's that have worked this Scheme.

Giving that money to the poor in there own country (or any country it never reaches the poor and almost always ends up in Swiss bank account's) would be a threat to the status quo and also useless to them because the only reason they are ripping off the Taxpayer in this money laundering racket is so that they or there backers can then gain a percentage of that money in those back door deal's but of course those opportunity to launder the money back into there own account's do not actually exist when helping there own people.

Just the way of the world and when you realize almost all politician's the world over are nothing but crook's or else puppet's OF crook's then you realize that our nation's are really being ran by a group of international gangster's.

I think once Irma hits land, our representatives will be up against the wall trying to fund disaster relief for 2 or more states. Not only should foreign aid stop, but so should our continued occupation and fighting in the middle east. Some foreign bases should also be shut down. Too much is being spent on America's military budget. Countries around the world need to start taking care of their own country and regional conflicts. It's about time America starts focusing on helping its citizens here at home!

These two catastrophic hurricanes may finally force our government to start investing and spending tax payer's money on Americans here at home. The amount of people who have and will become homeless due to these hurricanes may ruffle many feathers. Many protests could arise from this if our government doesn't tend to the needs of these people affected by this disaster. This may become a pivoting point in American history. The people may finally make a stand and say "enough is enough!"

The world financial system is at it's breaking point. I can't imagine how America and the world can continue to handle this enormous financial debt the world banking system has created. We need to clear the game board and start all over again or devise a new system altogether. Global debt forgiveness would be a good start.

...Not to add more fuel to the fire, Hurricane Jose may cause more devastating damage to the U.S..

This should be a Trump talking point after Irma. Let everyone know what's really going on in DC and what their priorities are.

Its looking like im about to lose like you just wouldnt believe. But psychopaths only relate to fellow psychopath megalomaniacs so better send that money their way and add the costs to mine everyones share of the historically unprecidented national debt.

I've heard on the grapevine that the government of Chadguaystan is applying for some US foreign aid so I can start a program teaching it's people how to make paper mache umbrellas.

After watching the video, I'd say by the sounds of it they'll likely be approved.

I agree money shouldn't go to foreign dictators.
Is that where all foreign aid goes?

Every one of the people who voted to block this should be elected out of their office , as stated if this doesn't show you who is more important, than nothing will .
Good on rand for at least trying , and showing us again what our government thinks of its own people.

You should watch the video of his floor speech. Plenty of examples, such as the 100's of billions blown in Afghanistan.

I would be surprised if anyone can rationally argue against what he presents.

Wait...it doesn't?

I'm just saying why would we borrow that kinda money on top of our deficits when there is plenty of room to trim some useless stuff just like he spoke about, unless you had a motive to send it to wasteful things before sending it to people here. Hmmm whats the most likely motive for such an in your face horrible decision such as that?

Money should not go to foreign dictators.
OK.
You know all foreign aid does not go to dictators.
Does all foreign aid go to where it is supposed to go?
