The radar at Portreath is noted for its ability to track individual rain drops...
Thats their words not mine.
The bunker holds the operators, and it is one thick concrete bunker i can tell you now.
In it were at the time seven radar operators. 6 individual screens, and the officer in charge at the times screen. His was larger and he could call up
the details of any other screen he needed.
As a demonstration, we watched as they tracked a military aircraft over the irish sea.
The radio came into life, and a smooth voice over the net came on and said.." err tracking station xxxx, please lower the power as your starting to
cut out my electrics.. say again, please lower power as your cutting my electrics." we all loked at each other, and this officr just smiled and
started to talk about the bunker itself and its ww2 heratige, and history as a chemical weapons base during ww2.
