Wow.. I'm blown away that there are people in this thread that are trying to attack or discredit the govenor in this thread.

The guy said white supremacists aren't welcome.

If you have a problem with that statement, it would be hard to convince me that you are not a racist/supremacist yourself.

This is insane that this even needs to be a conversation?
Didn't we all learn in school that we are all equal?
Haven't we all listened to Martin Luther King Jr.s "I have a dream" speech every year in school.

Crazy

ALL forms of HATE should be condemed not just the obvious ones making noise. Haven't you been paying attention?! You don't have to be WHITE and a RACIST to turn a peaceful protest into a violent mob attack.

Thanks, but I'm not so much interested in the video as I am in the OP's interpretation of it.

So why the fk did you make such a brouhaha over the source in the first place, you could have just say O.P what's your take on the Governor's statement..

This chump is a governor.
But you're right....He shouldn't be saying this for us...We should all be saying it ourselves. There is no room for bigotry in democracy.
There's no room for people who hate merely because of what you look like.
Nothing is more ignorant than hating someone for the color of their skin.

Erm... I thought you hated Orange skinned people Silly!?

Do you think Governor Mc Allif's words will be different if you listen to his speech on a different network?
Did you think before you asked that question or did you just dismiss it because of a history against CNN?
I mean really dude. It's a recorded speech. It will be the same no matter what logo is in the corner of your screen.

Hey, unless it was edited!

I think someone said exactly this to you when it came to O'keefe videos.

None of it changes the fact they have the permits to protest there.

Either the law protects all of us or it protects none of us because once you start letting our officials pick and choose who are worthy of protection under the law, then we cease to be a nation of laws.

And just to clarify, Satanists are allowed into schools now on this same argument.

he is the governor of virginia, to answer your question since no one else did. i would think everyone who lives in Va would care what this guy says and does, or at least be worried what he says/does.

The Governor should have just kept his mouth shut. He put his foot in it, in the moment he picked sides. The guy's a liberal with an (D) after his name. He may be Governor, but in America he doesn't get a say-so in who is welcome and who is not ... not where American Citizens are concerned.

I could give him a pass if he said, "Just like Snarl, I hate those Nazi MFers too. Enough campaigning for today. I've gotta get back to work and do my job. "

Didn't we all learn in school that we are all equal?

The level of equality you're espousing is nothing more than so many fancy words. Do you really believe you and I are equal ... at all?

Then why issue permits to them in the first place? What McAulifee thought it was going to be some encounter group arm-in-arm singing Kumbaya with the opposition?

This idiot needs to resign asap. He clearly allowed the clash between both groups to happen otherwise the police would've reacted sooner to deescalate the situation. Antifa are a violent group by default and nothing was done to prevent them from attacking the other side. Both sides are full of idiots granted but don't act surprise when you make a already volatile situation worse by allowing Antifa to attend the protest as well. I saw an unreal looking pic of an Antifa member using a homemade flamethrower on another person. These people are dangerous and it's clearly getting out of hand.

The "police" allowed hundreds of Neo Nazi fascists to march on the University campus with lit torches. But, I don't see any police standing around and allowing that man's homemade "flame thrower" as part of a demonstration like those torches were the night before. I guess he figured he'd fight fire with fire, eh?

I saw a skin-head throat punch an ANTIFA guy. Best protest march ever.

The governor should have let the CIA provide both sides with automatic weapons and a limitless supply of ammo.

Pretty hilarious you talk about linear thinking and that all yanks have it.

Guess you missed the irony of your statement.

Hi,

I think a major part of peoples' gripe is the double standards employed by those who are in a position to ensure the scales are balanced fairly.

In any case where white people are behaving ignorantly, 'offensively' and, at times, illegally the condemnation is swift and absolute (as it should be). However, when any other group behave in the same way there is no condemnation, sometimes praise and encouragement or, at best, half hearted "it is wrong but...." lame justifications and obfuscations.

It's clear as day to anyone who is even remotely objective and, even as someone who has very little, if anything at all, invested in this silliness, the hypocrisy does kind of stick in my throat as well.

I think a lot of the anger from people comes from the perceived unfairness and lack of even-handedness in the responses to these kinds of issues, whether it be the double standards of the left, the right, the whites, the people of colour, the feminists the Muslim community, the Christian community etc.

If there was just more widespread acknowledgement of this it would do a lot to de-escalate tensions.

However, we now live in a world where "my way or the highway" seems to be the norm, where true and honest freedom of speech (and, by extension, freedom of thought) is suppressed by the loudest and most forceful, and the ability to reflect on one's own weaknesses and prejudices, to develop and cultivate self-awareness and to examine and critically evaluate one's own opinions has become increasingly rare and, sadly, in many ways, redundant.

There white supremacists were not the victims though nice try.

There are dozens of pic and videos of them starting the fights. Whether it's bearing an old man on the ground or whatever.

The point of these rallies is often to create a riot. My guess is a few people on the white nationalists side are going to be sued and Maybe charges with crimes once the nsa is done sifting through the emails. Also they were the ones with a permit so the blame will go to them. The opposition didn't register, they don't know who they are, but may be able to pull a few from photos.

They never should have allowed this without a massive police presence. That we can probably agree on.

Nothing happened when they did that and it was mostly peaceful last i heard. Trying to light people on fire is now okay in your book gotcha. Wow your emotions and hate is clearly truly blinding your judgment of completely different situations. Btw i would've posted the same pic if it was an Alt-Righter using the homemade flamethrower on a Antifa member. This has nothing to do with being partisan.
