The guy spoke the truth.

There are some jobs that women are not suited to, same as men are not suited to some jobs. It has nothing to do with intelligence or capability, and all to do with interest and desire to do certain types of jobs.

Still, pretty dumb move to criticise an employer in that way.

It's not that they're not suited, it's just a lack of interest. There's no reason men can't be teachers or nurses; it's just that relatively few want to.

Similarly, there's no reason woman can't be techies; it's just that relatively few want to.

Forty percent of secondary school teachers in the US in 2015 were men.

Source

Male nurses are about 9% of the population, except nurse anesthetists, which are 40% of the profession.

Stating men are more interested and actively pursue these types of high tech jobs. No one is saying women can't do these types of job, just that not as many women seek this career path.

Actually, the author of the memo stated that women don't seek these jobs because of "biological differences"

Its as simple as that.

This push for getting minorities and women into High paying jobs has nothing todo with, solving a problem, or good will by corporate America and Politicians. Instead its a BS ploy to saturate high paying jobs to bring the cost down for corporations in high paying fields of study. Where is the push for getting more Women into already saturated fields with lower paying jobs?

When I decided to go into Computer Engineering I had nobody chasing me , telling me, or supporting me to go into Computer Engineering because I had a penis. I wen't into it because It was something I was fascinated with and had a passion for and I saw a great return for my future.

They are hoping to attract more engineers into the industry because a larger pool of workers helps decrease their compensation and nothing more. What is keeping a women from going to the engineering fields of studies ?

In the email, he alleged that the reason there are less women in the tech industry was due to psychological differences rather than some kind of nationwide misogynistic program to actively prevent women from working

No, that is a dumb reason and some lazy reasoning at that. I read that email and I already stated that I'm unmoved and uninterested in his closeted ideals, it's the conservatives talking points memo of women in the workplace. Pass. And he started contradicting himself. Sleeping on this memo like Z.

Should he have lost his job? Nah, firing the guy proves his point, a valid point to. If you have an opinion that is different from others, especially today, you can actually lose your job. Crappy.

I wonder what his job position was.

Soooooo.............no hiring on merit alone????

Criticising your employers is usually done discreetly and with trustworthy colleagues. Blaring it out at full volume through the works email system is always gonna end badly. Having it amplified across social media turned it into professional suicide.

Social media is a loaded gun with millions of idiots having access to the trigger.

The thing is if he wrote a screed like that promoting diversity and all the SJW causes du jour he would have been held up as a hero.

Sooner or later though, people are going to learn to keep their mouths shut at work. Further, anything you do on social media outside of work can also come back to bite you.

Gee, don't you think lack of interest is a biological difference?

Relatively few women get into fishing too. It's not that we can't fish, it's just that we aren't as interested in it. Just like it's not that men can't shop obsessively for shoes, it's just that men aren't as interested in it.

That's a biological difference. You will, of course, always find women who do like to go fishing. I do, and I assume you will always find some men who do like to obsessively shop for shoes. And you will also find women who want to work in computers just like you will find men who want to be elementary school teachers or nurses because that like to nurture others.

My wife worked at a start up. She is black. For the longest time, every employee was a white male. It wasn't so much because the employees were racist, but that there was very little diversity within their social circle. So any time a position opened, they 'd reach out to their personal/business network and invariably, almost all the candidates were white males.

My wife pushed them to look in places they don't normally look and sure enough they eventually hired three more women.

As others have stated, the reason you don't see as many women and certain minorities is that by in large, the pool of qualified candidates is fairly small. There is a lot of self selection going on where minorities choose not to go into certain fields.

Unfortunately it's impossible to have any sort of conservative feelings when working with or at Google.

This company is beginning to thrive on censorship. During the entire 2016 presidential election, Google censored all of it's search results in favor of extremely pro-liberal bias. Honestly, between Google and Facebook, I don't know what is worse anymore.

If you think about it, the individual who sent this email out knew, 100%, what the end result would be. I'm assuming he was just in the mood to stir the pot, and possibly shed some light on how Google has become more of a political entity than anything else... in my opinion.

Oh absolutely anyone who sends a 10-page manifesto to every single other employee has to know they are getting the axe. I'm surprised he didn't end it with one 2-word sentence -- I Quit!

Interest is a matter of personality. Are you saying that you think personality, which you probably understand as at least some component of "the soul" is biological?

You're not talking about biology, you're talking about stereotypes and anecdotal evidence.

But it also illustrates the massive hypocrisy of the left when a person expressing an opinion opposite the left's is crucified for having the audacity to express an alternative view.

Liberals are the moral death of this country with their liberal hypocrisy.

Sadly there is a gender gap in the IT fields.

The big question is why?

I don't think that it's simple. I worked in IT and saw many successful women but their numbers were small compared to the men in the field.

That is a reality. However I don't think the answer is simple.

That's not 100% accurate. There are plenty of CEOs of publicly traded companies who espouse their anti-Trump, anti-right, pro socialist, liberal policies that have absolutely nothing to do with being the head of a publicly traded company. A CEO's sole purpose is to growth share holder equity. Not use their position as a mouth piece. Firing this employee once again proves how hypocritical the left is and will always be when you present opposing viewpoints.

Actually, it is in fact biology. Go ahead and google "differences between male and female brains". And yes, personality does come partly from one's biology.
