It's gotten pretty difficult to find threads on current events that haven't had political trolling, name calling and bickering in them.

It's just the way it is but it does get old. There are usually more than one when it comes to burning down the village.

The best thing about this site is that there are people who aren't afraid to stand up to the bullies on the left. Take FB for one example, just try to defend Trump in any way, shape or form and see how you get ganged up on by a bunch of vicious bullies that you thought were your friends.

I'm far from "right wing" and would call myself "liberal" in the truest sense of the word but I'm sorry, I definitely don't identify with the brain washed, progressive, leftist bullies that call themselves the Democrat party today.

I didn't vote for Trump but every single time I try to point out a lie that has been perpetrated by the msm I get immediately attacked for being a Trumpist or whatever.

I keep telling my Trump hating friends (the ones that haven't unfriended me) that their behavior has caused more support for the buffoon.

As a token of good will top the OP and other in this thread concerned about right wing rhetoric or too much political arguing on ATS, I will extend the following two olive branches.

1) If I ever am being a jerk or making personal attacks, I encourage anyone to refer to this post where I am making a pledge to try to limit this type of posting and too call me out on it. I will try my best to be humble and admit my wrong doing in those situations.

2) I will read at least one non political thread every time I am on ATS for a reasonable time. I will try to post on those topics where I feel I can add something, and I will even try to post threads of my own on those forums.

Having said that, I think the mods and owners here do a great job. This is coming from someone who has had several threads deleted, and that had to admit that even though they were not overtly negative, they would have led to personal attacks that would not be good for the cite.

Lets be honest, there are some extreme personalities on here. To allow them to express themselves while also keeping the cite running smoothly would be a difficult thing to do.

Overall, ATS owners and mods allow the users to drive the content, and with the exception of some very extreme things, allow pretty much any kind of conversation. If you have a problem with content, I don't think they are to blame at all.

I think its just that there are a lot of users (perhaps just more vocal) that are into politics. But the other forums still exist, and I am sure based on the number of threads like these, that if users place new threads on those forums, they would get a tremendous response.

Reading through this thread...I actually chuckled to myself. Why?
I realized that my ATS conspiratorial mind was saying there is a conspiracy here! Perhaps...we did have a reset in 2012? Not the end of the world...but a reset. Focus and perspectives altered?

I stumble into the Mud Pit by in attention often. I love the recent page when I am needing my ATS fix. I believe early in this thread Vasa Croe had made a brilliant suggestion. That was move the Mud Pit into general chit chat...since that is basically what it is...just more extreme than a rant!

Those who love to throw mud...roll in it...like an addiction, will seek it out. I am not complaining...just think there will be less cross-over confusion in regular threads if it is more contained. It is to easy to mix up which thread you are responding to in the recent tab, currently. I believe there would be less alerts created if ATS took this action.

Edit add: because quite frankly...it is extremely annoying to read only 1-2 posts on a page of a thread and the mods had deleted all of the other stuff!

I believe this is the 1,020th "ATS is in decline" thread I've seen here in the past 15 years(!)...

I could go through the old threads and pull up this EXACT SAME OP thesis from someone on the "right", saying that ATS has become a bastion of the "left" and is in decline, that would have been from around mid 2008.

Folks it's simple, when the "right" is in command those on the "left" see the insults and bravado coming from the "right" as pervasive and, when the "left" is in command those on the "right" see the insults and bravado coming from the "left" as pervasive.

It just seems more obvious this cycle because the MSM is making hay with it. They have to, their ratings, and therefor their revenue, depends on it.

The internet destroyed the traditional newsroom that was run by real journalists who would never allow their personal bias to show ("right" or "left"). They can't spend the time developing real journalism, by the time the research is done there are 37 versions of the same incident all over Twitter, FB, YT, etc... By noon on any given day anything that happened that morning is already yesterday's news. That means nobody will view it which means you won't get paid for the article that was written or produced on video, and that's why newspapers and local newsrooms in broadcast TV affiliates are shutting down.

I said when all of the 2012 mania was going on that the world wasn't going to burn and turn to Ash, but that something was going to happen and 2012 would be looked upon 10 or 20 years later and people would say, "Yep, that's when there was a change." Bottom line, they were always bigots just waiting to be led by the lowest common denominator when the jihadi terror came upon us. All the sinister, wicked centers of evil came together to produce the horrible era of open hatred and bigotry we have today.

Perhaps the problem lies with the person who finds all of those with a different opinion than them as racist?

Or would you like to explain to me how the Supreme Court codified racism??

Been here since 2004, been in a few scraps, made a fool out of myself on occasion, been hard headed, but.... despite my faults, I have learned FAR much more here, than any other destination on the web...

With that said, I would like to raise a glass and toast the owners, the tireless volunteer staff, and to every single member who voices an opinion, presents a theory, who shares an experience, etc etc....

You make ATS what it is... a platform for sharing knowledge thoughts and opinions in a civil venue...

I think the my first response in this thread was what does anyone expect when one side constantly demonizes everyone that opposes them as "racist".

Look, partisan bickering is one thing, but when one side stacks up a dogmatic PC vernacular where racism is the most ultimate evil, and then they set about demonizing all opposition (including people not of the "other team") as "racists", that's a whole new precedent and the results are Social Devolution. Any social psychologist could have predicted it. And it was liberal social psychologists that engineered it.
