ATS In Decline?

I'm working on another IB thread, it's called "Identitäre Bewegung" (Identity Movement) here in Germany. But it's so effing boring that something way more interesting usually keeps coming up instead.

Guess we'll have to dissolve our delusions on another day then.

I came to this site quite a few years ago and in all honesty some of the things I've found out after reading threads on here have shattered my world view (I know don't believe everything you read on the net lol). It opened my eyes to things I would never have known or even thought possible.

ATS is a fountain of knowledge, a place to start your awakening. The information is still all here but it takes too much digging to find a gem nowadays.

I stopped coming here when election fever kicked in last year as the site and most of the patrons got pretty unbearable. It's really very sad to see what has happened to this once great site over the years I've been coming here.

All things change for better or worse. UGC set the stage for commercialism then a snowball effect happened that made some people very wealthy while ruining good outlets like ATS.

If this place is getting to people so much maybe they need some time away. I see left as well as right here and see trolls on both sides. I really don't like the term troll. To me it is name calling. It is actually someone looking for attention. I personally think if someone needs to be called out then call them out. Don't pull any punches. Remember this is the internet. We will more than likely never meet. So basically someone being a Di#k is just that. It isn't going to add up to a hill of beans in the long run now is it.

stay out of the political forums and you'll be fine. there are plenty of interesting conversations in the other ones

I couldn't figure out how the moderation on this site lost the control they did until my husband (an admin on his own site) pointed it out.

Even they don't stick to the behavioral rules. In his opinion, it's a major forum f# no to do -- you lead by example, not "do as I say, not as I do".

His opinion reading over my shoulder on here on occasion is they they need buck up & get back to being the leaders, not chummy in the threads. Enforce -- and strictly --the rules, and not arbitrarily anymore. Do not allow partisan bleed-over into other forums, and friggin' enforce the decorum even if it means post bans (of the timed variety, not perma-bans) until offenders get the idea, and sitting in a hot thread editing snipes out of posts to keep it civil (no mod enjoys that level of babysitting, but if need be it, do it)

But this will never happen. It's not that it's too much work, it's that it requires breaking their own habits first.

Now, that might be deliberate, but I should think that there are enough conservative echo chambers out there that the Three Amigos don't feel the need to compromise the integrity of the site to entertain a new business plan.

But somebody IS asleep at the switch.

Many years ago, I grew accustomed to the left wing being extremely vicious to the right wing and vice versa.

Neither side has ever seemed 'so much worse' than the other that it warranted calling one side out for any imbalance.

Meanwhile, everyone who doesn't take a side, and knows the two parties are in collusion and use the partisan divide as a distraction, moved along in the conversation and tried to ignore it.

People, like me, get called a liberal or a conservative depending on what I am criticizing at a given moment.

I have had to suck it up and not take it personally, so should you, OP.

Or change it, by example, by not being so partisan.

You found out about it just as the downward spiral began. I have been a member since 2006. I noticed a distinct change in the atmosphere and quality posts here around late 2010 early 2011. I went on hiatus for several years. Matter of fact, I have posted here more in the past two months than I have in the last 3 or 4 years combined.

I used to love the site, but frankly, it has turned into a partisan pissing match. Both rightists and leftists say the "center has seemingly disappeared." WRONG. We're alive and well... We just get ignored because we state things neither side wants to hear.

At that point I could still just read headlines and susrmise with astounding accuracy what the real jist of it all was (past the left/right tunnel vision shroud they use to keep us all ignorant and divided). But immediately thereafter I lost the 'vision' to such an extent when the MSM everyday cranked out headlines claiming Trump supporters were rioting their own rallies I had no context for WTF they would do that for or rather what was the social context for such spin...

Eventually the MSM's slant I just had to understand it, although I wasn't interested in the election at all, but long story short, right about 2010/2011 when I had dipped out was when the "Original SJW's" descended on occupy with their Political Stack (CRT 2.0) craziness and set the social fabric of the Western World ablaze with hyper-sensitivity, and all the rest of the race baiting & PC trends that that had been building up across liberalism.



2016 rolls around, I didnt even have time for any of this stuff, to my own detriment if I got sucked back in, but when I saw that even ATS was burning down with SJW's storming across the board launching multiple threads a day slandering everyone as racists, the moment when I finally came to grasp the full width & breadth of the sea change they had brought with this melodrama it I swear was like the morning of 9/11, when I had just came running back in from a 2 mile jog in the forest, and came inside and watched the Twin Towers implode live on TV.

And for what? They screaming pulling out their hair about "OPPRESSION". Half of them spoiled rich kids no less.

Them looking like asshats in the realm of left/right partisansnip isn't oppression. The stuff they obsess about riddled in hypocrisy and fallacy.

Perhaps most telling regarding this "oppression" is an almost COMPLETE LACK OF PERSECUTION across society on essentially all the groups they claim need to get together to persecute white people even the ones whom mind their own business.

There you go, SJW Supremacists, start destroying my nation claiming oppression despite a lack of persecution, and when I throw my hat in the ring on account in this Century this kind of social total warfare promises the extinction of our species you label me a far right white supremacist and as a team set about ALERTing my posts for staff review.

Yes. ATS has been around since at least 2001 because I lurked here for several years before I ever became a member. And yes, it has changed tremendously, particularly over the last 4 or 5 years.

Well first you do realize Trump is not a politician, don't you? He was elected as an anti-Washington, an outsider. People just want to get things fixed that are broken that professional politicians just seem to talk about with little actions.

Obama was my President when he came up with the crappy unsustainable ACA, Trump is their President... plain and simple...voted into office plain and simple...Trump wasn't even in office yet when the up roars started, so saying people have the right to complain about what he has done with Medicaid is just making excuses since he has done nothing with it.... lol

As Obamacare fails what do we do?

I was just thinking that the analysis on this website used to be better and used to really appreciate the thought members put into their posts and the consideration. The collaboration members used to put in to subjects, each knowing a different part of the jigsaw has been really valued over the years.

Obviously, thanks also to mods for trying to hold things together.

Now before you call me a conservative I am a libertarian. There is a lot of Trump support from people like me who make 17.50 an hour working 12 hour shifts who can barely afford medical coverage now if not at all. Secondly Trump is the first outlier who became president.

Third... it's very typical of the left to shutdown the conversation rather than prove theor ideology.

And last... there are tons of liberals here. I being one of them I am just not going to support the modern left because it has turned to crap.

Gary Johnson did a lot pf damage to the Libertarian party this year.

America's loudest voices have split it down the middle, and no one side is inherently the problem - the vitriol seemingly taking over this site is due in part to this, one side constantly accusing the other of everything they're also guilty of, and few if any of those voices have any ability to be introspective enough to see this, or purposely ignore it.

The right seems rather reactive... The loud voice towards Obama was rather soft compared to the avalanche from the left towards the current administration.

Do you realize that Obama did many things the right really hated too, that 50% of the country really disliked Obama so where was all the protesting at even a small level of what we see today with Trump... In Trump case he does nothing yet and the hate is legendary..lol

Hey we gave Obama a few years before we realized he was bad... The scary part is Trump is well on his way to actually be successful in meeting his campaign promises. You don't like them, better luck in 2020, but in the mean time he is your president, you should support him....
