When I was alot younger and growing up I always wondered what the great deception could be. Unbelievers can and will be decieved by alot because they don't believe in the first place. But my question has always been what could possibly decieve God's believers? The last few decade I've started to believe that it will be aliens. That to me anyway is the only possible explaination for something that could decieve believers. If aliens showed up tomorrow then the vast majority of religious people will abandon those beliefs because aliens just disproved it. The remaining believers will be ridiculed and mistreated, even to the point of being jailed and maybe put to death. I mean how can they not believe in aliens when they are standing right there.

What are your thoughts?

The great deception is that salvation comes from outside of oneself and that oneself is unworthy of God's love unless they believe in said outside salvation.

The only true salvation comes from within and with one's realization of what they truly are which is the divine and eternal light.

Why would people be jailed or put to death for believing in their fairytales?

That's just stupid.

The great deception is that there's a 'great deception'.

You sure the great deception is not a catch all cop out to pin on anyone who shows the flaws in christianities story???

God works in mysterious ways, it is all part of his plan, anything not of Jesus is evil, there is a vast conspiracy to make Christianity look bad..

Are all BS cop outs that sound good, but mean nothing.

If Christianity was real, why has every single testable historical claim has been debunked??

How come no biblical scholar has ever used to bible to discover a scientific theory or the origins of...well anything.

No person has ever done some experiment that led them to become a Christian..

How can you still consider Christianity when they got EVERYTHING wrong??

Hell , it should have gotten something right just by random chance.

I'm starting to believe that the "Gods" either exported us or created us as a slave race hence "Worship" but the Humans began to breed and became many, Revolted against the "Gods" causing them to leave but on the way out they sent us a message in the form of the "meteor" that killed off just about all life as an effect of that it also caused the super continent to separate. Giving us all the stories from those few who survived and in reality blasted us back to the stone age eliminating all pre-flood/disaster knowledge.

Actually it's not really that far fetched. It has to do with what has historically happened when a more advanced civilization encounters a previously unknown and far less advanced civilization. Just look at our own history and what has happened in those situations. Now take that to the extreme with our current level of technology and an unbelievably more advanced inner stellar civilization. I can easily see a situation where the "aliens" provide assistance, and the people who don't buy in become a liability.

There's nothing that I've read that leads me to believe that just human nature.

I have always wondered why people think that aliens disprove God..
As a christian who has a relationship with him, nothing or nobody would convince me that he wasn't real..
I may be confused if someone came up with a reason why but that wouldn't make me not believe in him..

Historically has been done by one religion towards other religions..

More times than not with Christianity burning and murdering any nonbelievers...

The Jews did it to the phillistenes (hypothetically)..

The romans did it to the Christians..

The romans as Christians did it to everyone else..

Then the western Christians and Muslims started doing it to anyone else..

So for the last 60 years or so where ANY religion isn't really accepted in a political leaders policies and things have a far more secular bend.... now it seems to have almost stopped..

Hmm curious...

It couldn't have been the religions that were the problem there huh????

Because the Bible is considered so supreme in some circles that..

A) it should have mentioned them..

B) places earth and humanity at the Pennical of the universe.

C) maybe it did mention them and they are demons.

D) the Bible is all encompassing and holds all the info humanity will ever need to know.

E) doesn't match the creation story, so must be fake.

Plus dozens of reasons more...

When discussing a ancient text that long, it is so up to interpretation you can figure in literally anything you want.

Some of the most spiritual and spiritually gifted christians believe in extraterrestrial life.

St. Pio ... a very gifted Italian Capuchin monk had this to say when asked about the existence of extraterrestrial life

"The Lord certainly did not limit His glory to this small earth. On other planets other beings exist, who did not fall as we did."

wouldn't god and the angels be considered aliens since they are not of earth? i have heard some people believe fallen angels are demons, if that is the case then maybe they will play it out they are aliens at some point if they haven't already.

Hiya. It will be interesting to see how we ALL react when various sectors of the humans on earth begin real interaction with "aliens." I just saw a documentary called Watchers. It has a section on religion in which a science director from the Vatican says, on telly in the early 90s, "the aliens are our brothers." Apparently, this guy had the ear of John Paul and has the support of the current Pontiff. According to a Vatican rep, the Church has altered the image of Christ from a Worldly Christ to a Universal Christ. I don't know how or if anyone has noticed. I doubt the American Church would mention this to its flock.

The Bhagavatam (Indian text) has a very nice description of the universe that seems to hold up to modern astronomy, putting the progenitors, those who seeded us (and whom we might at first think of as God) in the Pleiades or Seven Sisters star cluster (Kryon says there are nine planets all populated, some with humanoids). I personally like Krishna's four armed form but in the end I think we are just spirit sparks having an Earthly experience and we're heading for Galactic membership.
