Yes its official he was targeting Republicans,Congressman Jeff Duncan said in the news. Base on the few spoken words of the shooter before targeting Republicans.

It was live in the news.

End of story.

I do not doubt he was targeting republicans. But why? What are his motivations?

Before we blame the media and such, shouldn't we get more info?

Blaming this on a narrative built by the MSM is simply lazy.

Playing apologist already I see. You did this all last summer with every attack from Nice to BLM.

Geeeeeeeeeee, we just cant fathom why a leftist psycho would go and gun down GOP party people. NO WAY it would have anything to do woth thw cirrent political climate. NO WAY it would have anythng to do with the MSM that had been fueling all this stuff. NO WAY it would have anything to do with the election fallout and all the "resistance" talk. NO WAY!!!

He's probably just pissed about the new coal mine. That's all. Nothing to see here.

This kind of apologism derailing every discussion critical of these kinds of atrocities, the mentality behind effectively defending the worst kinds of crimes (all in the name of partisansnip), is just as much to blame for this ongoing wave of hate & atrocitities as anythibg else.

Then you showed up and all of a sudden its all about you.

It's about defending others as well. The vast majority of us on the Left are not what you and others make us out to be.

You just jump in saying you are hard left but this is not who you are. Did anyone ask? Why did you feel it was necessary to do that? The only thing I can think of is that there was a fast moving thread that was not talking about you. But you took care of that, didn't you...

I don't care if anyone did or did not ask. I addressed the comments I wanted to and it's none of your damn business why.

From what I've READ...sounds like a neckbeard to me. A LIBERTARIAN or one of THOSE screwball sovereign guys possibly...they hate ANYTHING government.

Rabid Bernie supporter...

That's already been established.

Last time I looked it were the right-wingers that were all up in arms (literally) when the decent folks, like Bernie supporters, suggested banning fire-arms. They often suggest that the Government should be afraid of their citizens, hence the need for guns. Well, somebody got himself a gun and used it against a member of his Government. Dig this: if that person would not have been able to get a gun, nobody would have been shot.

But I guess it's all right for the left-wingers to be afraid of right-wingers, but not vice versa, right..

The right for US citizens to own firearms is established and granted by the 2nd Amendment as a firewall against tyranny.

Are you suggesting that Americans like me should surrender our ability to defend our persons and homes against tyrannical government?

Unlike some at least Bernie Sanders has come out to condemn the shooter who volunteered to work on his campaign.
Unfortunately for Bernie, his supporters seem to be very violent.. perhaps he should consider dialling down his own rhetoric.

His own rhetoric is pretty tame. I remember he was like "I don't like the banks, the establishment sucks, war sucks".

He went off the deep end once or twice when he came out in support of the BLM terrorist organisation who made a mockery of one of his rallies, but for the most part I don't remember anything like what the regressive left goes on about.

He was very active on FB. And I think his motive is plain after reading through four years of it. You should really read through it for some insight. He had two FB accounts, I read through the 'James Hodgkinson' one.

BTW, I haven't even read any of the MSM reporting, so far.

I do not doubt that his motivations may have been political.

But I think I'll wait till more comes out before I jump on my own political hate bandwagon.

Do what you want. But don't call people lazy when there is a direct source of information available for you to examine and you aren't interested in doing that.

I prefer to get my information straight from the source, if possible. And there is a plethora to be found on his FB page.

My dad's former neighbor! They just showed his house on CBS. That is his recent house. His previous address was by my dad.

His wife says that he has been staying in Virginia for the last 3 months. (from a Facebook friend).

Scalise is fine, the gunman is dead.

I wonder what this will do for gun control as issues like this always forces action when it hits too close to home, I always thought this kind of attack was bound to happen to Trump, not to one of his colleagues.

Are you serious?

People that can actually think straight know laws against guns do not make guns disappear from people who want guns. At best they take guns away from law abiding citizens.

The only reason the congressmen are alive is because of the capital police who had guns. If they had been killed this maniac would have killed most or all of them, whereas if the congressmen were carrying themselves they could fight back.

Anybody that can think straight does not say - this demonstrates the need for gun control - it demonstrates the opposite.

Thank you. I'm heart broken by this. Then to come on here and all but get blamed for it by my fellow members. Well .
I think this is a horror.

Shut up Silly. We're terrorists.

Get it straight.

Hey the redneck and I have stuck up for you.

But lets not pretend that even on this thread there are people making excuses for this attack, or saying other republicans like Trump and sessions are terrible and somehow more deserving of being shot.

You seem to focus all of your time denouncing people for lumping all liberals in this basket (which I agree with you) but have yet to comment on these people on the left making this horrible comments.

Yes, I already addressed the comment made by people on the Left.

introvert and Silllyolme, using the victimized card doesn't look good on either of you.

So cut it off.

Trump fanatics USE it all the time? Turnabout's FAIR play?

In EITHER case, people CHOOSE to be a VICTIM.

More anti gun bs.

But nice of you to admit all of you "decent" people are for "banning firearms".

Its nice to see the true beliefs rather than the normal lies about only wanting to ban certain guns to certain people.

Funny how those "decent" people who want the second amendment banned also want to stifle free speech from conservatives on campuses, thereby banning the 1st amendment too.

Reports say police responded to his home back in March for shots fired.
He had a permit for the weapon.

After Sanders folded he apparently jumped on the Hillary bandwagon, as all good Bernie people were told to do. He had Hillary support on his Facebook page.

And what ongoing wave are you talking about?

Yes it would of been interesting to find out why/what made him cross the line, I guess he has left enough bread crumbs behind to get a general idea, never as confirming as out of the horses mouth.
God speed to those wounded.
