No driving from Denver to Santa Fe, north to south, was stopped and searched. Our Constitution is being eroded.

"We come in and out of California, and this is the first time they've ever asked us to open the trailer,” said Henry Haurand, a native of Salt Lake City who regularly comes through California.

Like I said....a lack of knowing ones rights and exercising them effectively.
The net full of videos showing people exercising their right and being thrown into secondary inspection where they are FORCIBLY made to comply or risk seasure and arrest.
Yeah.... the whole guilty before innocence scenario..
That's constitutional??
We all have rights, but traveling on a public highway, they be somewhat deminished.
Motor vehicles have a lesser protection than a persons house under the 4th.
REALLY???? I don't recall the 4th specifically distinguishing the two.....hmmm
I dont recall the 4th amendment specifically stating motor vehicles. Secondly driving is a privilege and not a right. The initial scotus ruling is Carrol vs. US, which created the exceptions. Motor homes are also an exception but only while in motion.
Reasonable suspicion is needed to perform a traffic stop. Absent the officer requesting and being granted consent to search, probable cause is needed IE - search incident to arrest, contraband in plain sight, etc.
with this said my apologies to the op for derailing the thread. If you want to start a new thread or work this topic into the op topic we can.

and you never provided the reason they asked to search or if the search was forced.... I just not saw you said it was in the 90's so kind of a moot point since the laws have changed.

Interjecting your incident into the conversation I was having with the other poster. Its not hard to reach the conclusion you were complaining based on the conversation with the other poster and your response to it.
Next time be clear.

Not really a complaining kind of guy, am a vet. You have to realize how far this country is split right now. Only 30% support our president, but he is our president.
I never responded to anyone but you, not sure who this third party is?

Doesn't Sharia Law only apply to those that follow it? I can see in other countries where it is the law of the land so women etc are screwed, but here it is pretty much a law that one follows or not.

I don't understand why people are bothering to march for Sharia Law when it is not allowed in this country, per our constitution.
Can anyone answer this for me?
No one is marching for Sharia law, they are marching against hate.

Lol, look at those dumb Americans. Protesting sharia law on the street corners while wearing MAGA hats !? Make America great again by selling weapons to a country where sharia law is practiced ?
Your president danced with people who practice and enforce sharia on their citizens yet you are protesting Sharia law wearing MAGA hats and American flags !!!!!!!!!
Loooooool. This is some Monthy Python material right there.
Academics tend to be more relaxed, saying that "fears that councils are forming a parallel legal system appear to be unfounded". A new book by a Dutch researcher is reportedly more critical about how women in particular are treated. Researchers also stress that we need more information to work out how important Sharia councils are on the ground, and the experiences of people using them. Similarly, the government now says that "there is evidence of a problem, but we have an inadequate understanding of all the issues involved". It has commissioned a review into whether Sharia is being "misused or applied in a way which is incompatible with the law", to report in 2017.
