Comey was in charge of the investigation into Trump's team colluding with the Russians. By asking for his loyalty, Trump was asking Comey to "let this go" (Trump's own words) and stop the Russia investigation. When Comey did not, he was fired.

That sounds like obstruction of justice.

No h e asked comey to let this go about flynn.

Wrong. "Let this go" was referring to the Flynn investigation.

The Flynn investigation is part of the trump investigation..

that may be so but its still just asking and not stopping anything.

Yeah, then when Comey doesn't do what Trump asked, he gets fired.

You guys are just playing dumb to not see it.

Or maybe you're not playing, I can't tell.

Depends...

One should be loyal to the constitution not loyal to a person occupying the office of the presidency.

You mean that piece of parchment that Obama called it?

“Our Constitution is a remarkable, beautiful gift,” said Obama. “But it’s really just a piece of parchment.”

“It has no power on its own,” he went on. “We the people give it power. We the people give it meaning with our participation and with the choices that we make and the alliances that we forge…”

Kinda true, no?

Maybe you should use this soundbite instead:

"I don't give a goddamn," Bush retorted. "I'm the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way."

"Mr. President," one aide in the meeting said. "There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution."

"Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," Bush screamed back. "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"

Unfortunately, that one wasn't Obama.

It is not illegal for trump to excercise his constitutional rights of office.

He could have pardoned anyone. At that point he says, hey public servant, I pardoned so and so....stop investigating him.

Him asking the FBI director to clear up fake news circulating about Trump being under investigation.

That is Effing retarded that he cant have a formal Effing statement on the FBI website saying our president IS NOT under investigation. Fake news...

Trump did say it was interfering with his ability to do his job. Thats priority number one as far as that over blown police man with a title is concerned. You are a federal representative. Start making the job easier on your team.

Trump didnt break the law by asking a public servant to not waste resources on a pardoned man.

Also, at least Trump met with him and called several times and tried to work with him. Obama waved at him one day and eight years later waved good bye.....in the golden age of global terrorism. Think about that.

Whose team is Comey on? Thats the problem. No one knows but he is absolutely not neutral.

Mainstream people? You mean Trump FOLLOWERS? THEY are in POWER now...they ARE the so-called "mainstream".

Fox news and conservative radio are main stream media, yes.

They aren't alternative media that's for sure.

President Trump wanted Comey to tell the public what he told him, that he was not under investigation.

Trump wanted Comey to "clear" him in public, the same way he cleared Hillary in July 2016.

Comey didn't do it, so he was fired, just like we would be, for not doing what our boss asked.

Comey isn't a mouth piece for Trump.

Besides, Trump already said that he fired Comey because it took pressure off of him and the investigations.

That's what he said. He probably shouldn't have but he did.

Clearly he wanted Comey out of there because he wouldn't play ball and be "Loyal" to Trumps every demand. So he fired him.

I don't understand why the liberal media is so AMAZED that President Trump asked Comey for loyalty.

The media has stated hundreds of times since Trump started campaigning that he "values loyalty" in everyone who works for him. He's probably asked every potential campaign or administration hire, if he'll have his/her loyalty. That's how Trump operates. The MSM knew this, and so did all Americans who watch the news.

Unfortunately, we only have one side of the story. The person who writes the story always portrays himself as "the good guy". That's human nature. While Trump is "live tweeting" his reactions during the testimony later this morning, we'll get his side. I'm sure he'll be the "the good guy" in his tweets.

At the end of the day, unless Comey comes out with a bombshell and has REAL PROOF, most of the "smoke" is gone from this circus. The Republican DOJ and Republican Congress are not going to bring any kind of legal charges against a President from their own party, unless something very very wrong was done. The bar is set very high right now.

Fox news has been the definition of mainstream even before they helped Bush push for the Iraq war.

If Comney told Pres.Trump he was not the subject of the investigation ,then should it not be called the Flyn investigation. Unless you've realized without calling the Trump investigation you have nothing on him. Cause at this point its more of a witch hunt and we all know the wicked witch lost.

Now that Mueller have all the facts coming from what the media propagandized as "bombshells" "reliable leaks", "phone call release of memos", the witch hunt is falling apart.

The salivation about Comey "secret inside" about Trump, is falling apart.

the Democrats have nothing, the pony show is over,

I will never vote Democrat ever in my life.

and the circle jerk continues. How about we see what happens today, they when the truth, or the version we get to see, comes out we will all know what's next. Maybe the Trumpites are right, and maybe the tardites are right, who knows.

The FBI Director works for the President.

The Director of the FBI works for the people of the United States, not the President. The term of office is ten years so that it will span at least two presidencies in order to prevent exactly the sort of corrupt patronage Trump was angling for. Firing Comey was perhaps the stupidest thing this stupid man has ever done. Comey now has nothing to lose by telling the truth.

Yes, you are right, unless you are a Democrat president and then you work for that president and not for the people.

The hypocrisy.

Remember when just chatting with the Attorney General was a crime? Remember when Comey was a hero for reopening the Clinton investigation? Talk about hypocrisy!

Not a crime - but very suspect as the person chatting to the AG was the husband of a woman being investigated.
Not the same example with Trump as we know he was not under investigation.
