No, the two are separate issues, but it is an example of what Trump is trying to cover up. Most of Russia's effort consisted of targeted disinformation. Access to various databases could help them focus in on particular groups with particular types of propaganda. You work in IT, don't you? You understand the value of this sort of "market research."

I hope I am wrong, but I get this feeling that:

If he were dealing with people honestly, the leaks would not matter. You can tell just by the fear in the eyes of his spokespeople that there is a serious morale crisis in the White House. The leaks merely confirm this. Rather than try to stifle the leaks, he should focus on getting his team working.

I suppose in the spirit of openness, he should really just do business on Facebook and friend everyone.

Ironically, that's exactly one of the causes of the morale crisis. The grown ups in the administration craft a message to sell their policies, then Trump tweets something that completely overturns it. The SCOTUS may have to rule on whether an EO should be judged on its wording or on the intent its author voices. Sad.

That seems to be the open security you are in favor of.

Take that up with Trump. There are some things that need to be kept secret, and there are secrets that need to be made public for the greater good. Trump is heading for a Nixonian exit in record time.

Which is probably the greatest reason to believe she was set up in accordance with her publicly stated views. The intial leak had everyone all worked up... only to have it all dashed when she was arrested. No one knows if the NSA report was genuine or just created for this very purpose. (Well, someone knows -- but not us!) I'm leaning toward a canary trap: Whisper something in someone's ear and see if it becomes public and if it does you know who the leak is.
